For new readers,
Anyone contemplating joing the Jesus Christians is encouraged to go over all the pages on this forum, look at the information here:
[culteducation.com]
and do their own research into this cult before deciding to give all their worldly possessions to David McKay without ever getting their money back.
They should also be aware of the strong possibilty of sustatining spiritual, physical, emotional and/or social injury as a result of joining this cult, even to the point of organ sacrifice for ritual purposes.

Anyone considering joining the Jesus Christians should also bear in mind one of the universal truths that applies to all cults.
Namely, "give up everything and follow God" actually means "sell everything you have and give the money to the cult leadership".
Watch out for your wallets, people!

A LETTER TO DAVID
The most positive aspect of David's past and present life is his 86 year-old mother, Alice. She's a most kind woman, who is deeply religious. Her faith in God sees her through the grief of having raised a son like David, a man, who causes as much devastation to other families as he has caused to hers. She loves her son, though is ashamed of him, but does not support his self-seeking mission. She hardly ever hears from him and that's hard for any mother, especially in her reclining years.Quote
This kind of takes it back to basics...

Apostate, what is wrong with delving into Dave's background? I, for one, thought it interesting as well as emotionally painful thinking about her. She is not being exploited by us. I certainly would not stand for it. Zeuszor is not selling the story to the tabloids. This is our forum and we ought to love Dave's mother, as she seems to be one of us.

"I met another missionary here in Kenya this week, and he was wanting to know something about ourselves. He asked us to describe a Christian group that might be similar to us, and I mentioned Youth With a Mission (Y-WAM). He said, "Oh, did you know that a crazed ex-member just shot and killed a number of Y-WAM staff in two different cities this week?"
I was so struck by the similarities between that and the death threats that we have received as a result of the Jeremy Kyle Show that I just started blurting out something about the Brian Birmingham types that we have encountered lately. Only afterwards did it get through to me that he probably thought we were weird to have even mentioned such a thing.
Anyway, the point of the story is that I realised for the first time just how much I make false assumptions on the basis of CO-INCIDENCES... assuming that a co-incidence is a tip from God to act on it in some way. I am going to try to be a lot more cautious about acting just because I spot a coincidence in future!
Oh yeah, the other coincidence was that we had been talking about drilling a bore well, and this missionary specialised in drilling bore wells. So I just kind of assumed some deep spiritual unity from that which wasn't really there."

FACT: It was an ex-member.
FACT: Co-incidences happen every day by order of maths. That simple. To assume divine ordinance from co-incidences is an indication of religious delusion.
Hope your day gets better, David.
