(Glass raised) Salut!

Not bad for a guy with a whiny face and sweaty voice. Very gratifying.

Thanks again, ITV!

Some extracts from the Jeremy Kyle show at the Bebo link above.

Call for Art Work for ICSA 2008 Conference
Phoenix Project Ex-member Art and Literary Works

If you are an ex-member of a cult or high demand organization, The Phoenix Project, presented in cooperation with the International Cultic Studies Association, is pleased to invite you to participate in our next annual exhibit, scheduled for the last weekend of June 2008, at the ICSA Conference in Philadelphia, PA. This call for work is for those works of art that are related to the cult, or high demand organization experience.

You are invited to submit proposals of your visual art, drama, dance, music, video, or literary works that illustrate the world of the cult survivor, including the previous (group) world, healing or recovery, or aspects of the time of transition from the cult or high-demand organization.

Creations may be in any art form, including but not limited to: literary (such as poetry, drama, short story, or other writings), music of any kind, dance, and the visual arts (such as paintings, drawings, collage, sculpture, fiber arts, photography, film, video, or multi-media).

If desired, this work may be presented anonymously, through another presenter.

We hope that not only will this exhibit illuminate the reality of life in a high-demand organization or cult, and of its effects on individuals, but that it will provide an empowering experience for participating artists, who will have the opportunity to tell their own stories in their own ways.

For more information, please e-mail Phoenix Project Director and Coordinator Diana Pletts at: exmemberartwork@yahoo.com

We look forward to considering your artwork for this event, and hope that you will consider working with us in this presentation of ex-cult member artwork.

Please pass this announcement on. Thank you.

I've been following this thread with interest and thought I'd add a few thoughts on the Jeremy Kyle Show.

The Jesus Christians certainly didn't come across very well, but I think this was self-inflicted, rather than the result of the conspiracy that they'll doubtless allege. As an example, Jeremy Kyle's first question to David McKay was an absolute gift - an opportunity for him to set out the group's beliefs and teachings. But what happened? Instead of answering the question, David McKay launched into a complaint about the previous day's show.

What struck me as particularly interesting were the observations consistently made on the show by the 'cult-busters', former cult members and people from families ripped apart by cults: namely that despite the protestations, the behaviour and psychological make-up of David McKay was virtually indistinguishable from people like Jim Jones and David Berg.

He, he-
you've gotta love Dave! Someone has written in with a message of support- Dave writes- ' I'm so glad that so many people feel the same way'. Uh....it's one person Dave- who sounds like they have a grudge against Jeremy Kyle!lol
When he's on the Testimonies page- then I'll be impressed........
If he's not Jinny's boyfriend.....!lol

...a sample "Letter of Support"

Dear Mr Kyle,

If David McKay were really as bad as you make out....why then most people would eventually walk out on him....How do you account for that?.... knowing full well as you do that David makes it quite clear to anyone who dares to stand up to him that once they are no longer members of the Jesuschristians, that they no longer "count" in any sense of the word, hence only those who remain betoken to him, genuinely merit inclusion in any statistical data!

yours

Brian, I have to say after watching the JK show on Bebo that you did a good job of stating things how you saw them. Dave came off looking like the one with "problems". Well done.

I saw what was up at bebo of the Kyle show.

Looked good.

Someone should try to get both shows up on YouTube, where they will reach a wider audience.

It's amazing how much media attention such a small group has received over the years.

McKay seems to still crave attention.

But he really is his own worst enemy.

He came across very badly and didn't look too well.

Despite what some people may say, all press is not good press.

Bad press is just plain bad. And this was another bitter dose for McKay. It seems pretty much all his media coverage is bad.

His wife came across like a robot.

Maybe McKay will retire from the media and make this his farewell performance.

Something like a rat scurrying for its hole when the lights come on.

He did make a run for it when Kyle asked him too many questions?
