I'm lonely and have a feeling of LOSS since having left the group.

We would always play such fun games. There was a Jewish holiday and we dressed up in costumes one year.

At coffee house we would put on PLAYS and there were BOARD games.

What if my peers wanted to put on a play? How would they do it these days? What BOARD would they PLAY on?

Could they coroborate and put on a WRITTEN PLAY?

What names would they use? What roles would they create?

DAMAGED is a suitable name for a player in the VICTIM ROLE.

SURFER DUDE in the ROLE of THERAPIST? Survivors of sex abuse would turn to him instead of the cops.
No need to dial 911.
Just have a chat with surfer guy.

MARVelous MARVIE would be a good name for the LEADER ROLE or discussion leader.

Xcellent XFOLLOWED could hang on Marvelous Marvies every word with total agreement and rapt attention.

The plot could involve some delightful conversations which would take place between old timers who longingly reflect upon the days when the cult first originated.
The characters would have to appear manly. Maybe they could talk about guns and hunting. Best not to talking about sodomizing young children. No. That wouldn't work.

Let's see the theme?

Well the theme could be reflected in the undertones of the dialogue. You know the theme could be that
''abuse is such a vague term. How do we define it? No no no...don't dial 911''

Sallie, while sometimes I find you hard to follow...you know much more about this group than I. I find your honesty hysterical and appreciate someone who is willing to call out other "victims" of this group on this board who continue to say they are not all that bad. They are the worse kind of bad there is.

To anyone look up "narcicistic (sp?) personality disorder. I have never known an entire group of people before these that fit the profile perfectly.

One last thing. Damaged sounds an awful like most of the Smestads I knew. Are you related? I noticed noone else other than Sallie posted regarding the facts that I recently posted on abuse.
Fact - Smestad volluntarily gave up his daughter to avoid further investigation. Come on let's hear how you would defend that. Whoever the poster was liebuster or something like that - where are you with your "evidence" to the contrary.
Back then you -yes I believe I know who you are - claimed that Greg had to give up his daughter because that is what his attorney advised.
Two Questions:

What kind of attorney advises his "innocent" client who has "evidence" of his innocence to permanantly give up his 5 year old (she was 3 when the abuse was uncovered, 5 when the adoption was finalized)?

What kind of "innocent" father who believes his ex-wife to be "unstable" permanantly gives up his 5 year old daughter leaving her in the care of said "unstable" woman?

Come on folks, lets talk about the facts.

Here's part of a letter I found addressed to Richie Walsh back in 2009. The writer wants to confront him about something which was done to him when he was 20.

He wrote...

I want to tell you where I am coming from. In October of 1976 I was informed that I was to participate in a winter survival trip. I was just short of 21 years old, very naive, had never been on a camping trip and did not particularly like cold weather. There were seven of us plus you and Larry. Having been given a list of items to bring in order to be prepared for the trip it seemed odd that you specifically requested that we each bring a pair of shorts and a tee shirt. Well on December 26, 1976 we all met in Southold and spent the day learning about cross country skiing. It was after sunset that you brought us outside to the lake behind the house. We had all stripped down to shorts and a tee shirt. The lake was frozen over. A hole was cut in the ice and each of us was lowered into the water up to our necks for approximately twenty seconds or so. The purpose being that in the case of an accident in the wildernes we would know to control our body temperature.
Before dinner as we were preparing our backpacks I pulled you aside and asked you for my keys and my wallet as I decided I had to be out of my mind to be going on this trip. You responded by telling me that we would talk about it later on in the evening. Little did I know that in the middle of dinner you would tell everyone that I had something to share with the group. After I explained to everyone my misgivings about going on the trip there was a short discussion and then a vote. It was unanimously decided that I was going on the trip. The trip was somewhere in the mountains upstate. The first night in the tent I flipped out and had to be calmed down by my tent mate. I did not know at the time that I alarmed everyone in the camp as they all heard what was going on. However, by the third night you had expressed amazement at how I pulled myself together; how I owned up to something that I had to go through. That was a trip that changed me in many ways and I will never forget it.

Well that link isn't working. Another poster has it on their post. It was a Jan 2010 post I think. Somewhere around that time.

I think divorce court records are public info.
Finding out about the Smestad man giving up custody of his 3 year old after a therapist came forth with proof of sexual abuse would be public info.
Is that right?

Above are FOUR examples of ''outsiders'' accusing some of the groups founders of sex crimes .
Also a claim about something that sounded to me like kidnapping.

Gosh...

No one from within the group has ever accused any of the founders of sex crimes against minors??

Wow.

Do lower ranking members have access to computers and phones etc...???

4 years ago when I found this site and started posting here, you would have been hard pressed to convince me that these sexual abuses were as widespread as they clearly are. Since it didn't happen to me, and not having witnessed it happen in my family I was naive I guess in thinking, hoping the perversion stopped at Hickman. Obviously that's not the case. There is no way now I would ever try to deny it. It clearly happened to many, and I appreciate this site and how it can hopefully open the eyes of many others.
