AD,

I am not an expert on brainwashing and I can't address all the ways it can occur but I do accept what the experts say about it occurring in very controlling cults. Also on this forum we have the testimony of posters who say they were brainwashed. I don't doubt them. How many have commented regarding their involvement....what was I thinking?

I think of brainwashing this way. Some parents who have a strong hatred for certain racial/ethnic groups often influence their children and teach their children the same hatred and I think their children are deceived and brainwashed that certain racial/ethnic groups are bad (they aren't bad) and the child is brainwashed to hate. In a Bible based cult I think members can be deceived that they are maturing spiritually into Christ in the flesh (even though they don't even walk in the key and foundational tenets of compassion, forgiveness and love or any spiritual power) because that's what their spiritual leaders tell them and if they believe it, I think the members have been brainwashed...heavily influenced and persuaded they are becoming little gods. This may be a very simplistic way of understanding brainwashing and as you say perhaps not everyone is easily influenced but according the Rick Ross he as helped doctors, lawyers, etc. folks who rely on their critical thinking skills for their professions who got fooled by the persuasion and influence of cult leaders.

There has been a noticable rise in Facebook activity regarding Marilyn Farms lately. The march towards normalcy continues, along with the continued depletion of any doctrinal nutrients they once believed set them apart from the rest of the field.

A focus more in this direction will hopefully dilute the Kool-Aid enough for it to completely lose its color, flavor and popularity.

While I have said that I don't think JRS INTENTIONALLY taught anything false, in that he believed in my opinion what he taught, I do think that he used every trick in the book to play on the stupidity of a bunch of burned out people that were often without father figures, or were often from broken homes, and he got them to look to him as if he were their savior, or at least didn't do or say a hell of a lot to discourage them. When Paul and Barnabas saw they were being treated like deity, the bible says the "tore their robes" which was what Jews did in total disgust as a statement against blasphemy. I have heard it written here that "John allowed them to worship him, Gary and Marilyn DEMANDED them to worship them." That might be one of the truest statement every written here on this forum.

I am really sorry that Living Word Fellowship turned out to be such a huge cult and such a huge misfire, John Robert Steven's biggest mistakes was A- marrying Marilyn, B-getting such a big head and needing praise to the point of placing the kiss ups into POSITIONS of authority so that they would fulfill his own prophecy of his life's work and ministry being run into the ground by a younger Judas, (and he didn't know it, a JEZEBEL). Those are his biggest mistakes.

As far as Latter Rain theology, I know there are many people from the Walk still teaching the Manifest Sons of God idea, and other parts of the theology, they are more honest people for the most part than the ones that took charge of the walk up to now. I see that two Walks have formed at the same time, it seems the one that stayed together under the logo and on the property was one, and the various other ones, (really I said that wrong, there are several other small Walks out there still, I know of at least three or four) but as far as the theology goes, we will see, and i think soon. The proof is in the finally, we will see if Christ returns like He said, or we will see if there will be any manifest sons of God that are immortal or if it is just garbage. I know that we are in the end time, they are sawing off heads just like John said in Revelation, and there is certainly an anti-Christ system in the world going strong, and it appears there are several people trying to get that POSITION of the Anti-Christ himself. We see the rapture has not happened pre-trib, let's see if it happens mid-trib, or post-trib or not at all. I think it is all comeing to a head now.
