‘Esme, if you look back on my previous posts you'll see that I have written the same concerning Pauline Anderson. She was a holier-than-thou bully who now needs to openly apologise to her "victims" before writing sanctimonious open letters to the very warped organisation she once represented. In my opinion she wanted the coveted "top spot" and when she didn't get it she hit Struthers with her very public, very stroppy, open letter’

I have scanned the recent letters but will look at them in more detail when I’ve got more time.

I agree with all of the above.

If you look at all the points in the letter I would definitely say that the people in the forum could have come together and wrote similar . The use of scripture was also excellent. What the letter accomplished is that we got a response from SMC in writing and their current stand on each point which is very beneficial for the forum. Because it shows that they have no interest in making real changes or taking responsibility for past harm done.
There are a number of people who like Liz believe that the letters (Alan’s as well) were probably written by a group i.e. Pauline, Alan Martin, Susie Sharky and Paul Sharky. If not please update us.
But regardless of who wrote them I do think that the response of SMC is what we really look at.

Also, with reference to Pauline and the ‘top job’ it has filtered through the grapevine that she did indeed want a major position in one of the Scottish churches (not glasgow)but was told ‘no’. I made reference to this in a previous post.
She basically had a conversation with Diana (and possibly others)and said she would come back up to Scotland but she wanted a joint leadership in one of the main Scottish churches (not Glasgow).
So are the letters a response to being told ‘no’ ….well only Pauline can answer this.

Been interesting reading the past week . All I would like to add is that . It's not just the main leaders in the church . That need to say sorry for the hurt they caused. It's everyone who had any authority over anyone else. Sunday school leaders . Youth leaders. As the never know they could have hurt and offended others who attended years ago. I know reading the forum there's only one person who I know had authority at one point in the church . Has came on and said sorry to anyone they had hurt in the pass. As being one of the folk this person had hurt this meant alot to me.

Myself has said sorry to anyone I have hurt. I also apologise to anyone I brought into this church. And they were alot back then.I blamed myself for years for ruining all these young folk lifes.

So to sum this up I was never a leader or had authority over others but I'm not ashamed to say sorry . Will any other appokigise .From those who lead others to the main leaders .

Being privy to some inside information i can confirm that the leadership in SMC are now describing Pauline Anderson and Allen Martin as "very troublesome and misguided". They are now seen as usurpers and Offenders of the "Faith."
Now there's a surprise!

The last few weeks, I have been thinking about sharing my memories and thoughts about this. I must admit I thought twice but feel this is the right time to share this

When I was at Winston one year, I was out for a walk one evening after the meeting with a friend. We hung out down at the graveyard, just chatting away. Well, we heard voices and knew we would be in trouble if we were caught being out the grounds. We hid under a gravestone

it was the female youth leader from Falkirk, and I knew I was in big trouble of she caught us. So we stayed silent. Well, what we have seen was her not acting appropriately and being up to no good , to be someone who made out she was a lot better than us all and lead a godly life and looked down at us, This stayed in my memory for a while.

This leader picked on a very vulnerable female; a lot of us were brought up with from the scheme we lived in. It was common knowledge this girl had a very hard time at home; she was abused with a member of her family, social work was involved ect. But did this leader support this girl No, she made her life hell at church. The girl was banned from the church for doing something silly, and we all were told not to speak to her etc I must admit I still spoke to her. I was told this young female turned up at an outdoor meeting and sat in the distance, watching it.A few of the young folk said to this leader Cant we let her join us? we feel sorry for her The leader turned around, saying no, she can't as she deserves everything she is getting treated with within the church and outwith ..So she was saying she deserved to be physically abused at home also. This young girl needed help and the church turned her back on her,,

I also mind she treated us like I was dirt on her shoes looked down at me for where we were brought up a council estate we were all treated different back then .P also mind her given her testimony at a Friday youth meeting in Falkirk and Hugh Black telling us all we should aim to be alike her, I thought to myself so I have to be like someone who did things with boys and also bully those younger than her and treat everyone bad I so wanted to shout out what she was doing but didn't

You all might wonder why I am sharing this now.

Well, the Stories I have heard over the last year about this leader who preaches a lot in Falkirk are shocking. She is not changed, and even worse, from what I hear, she went on to marry someone who is now on the church board. She is the person they say will take over from Jennifer Jack in Falkirk when she steps down. Do they think this would be advisable for another Bully to run a church? Then again, what we read here is the norm. So from my last post, it is not just the Main leaders in Struthers who need to say sorry; it's from us who brought folk into this church to the top who is running the church,

I hope this gets people thinking and watching what we say to others. I know a simple remark can cause a lot of harm

I could tell more stories about this female, but it's not my place to share others' stories.

This is from 2 others who remeber this and experienced Excorcism, I am helping them out by sharing, given Pauline Anderson wants to be transparent:

4: She was at these camps year in year out telling people they were filthy, don't read magazines, paper, watch screens and TV was straight from a very hot place and l don't mean pizza hut!

5: POLLY, SUZIE, Paul, and of course Mr Duplicitous Alan Martin it is clear that Spiders, Hyde and a few others stropped off because the top spot was just so near but yet so far.
So don't expect too many to fall for your sanctimonious clap trap Pauline, Martin, SUZIE and Paul for whilst you used lots of Scripture. You Were All in it up to your Necjsks so why be so hypocritical. Yes we all know Mrs Rutherford is over all leader and you all wanted that booo hoo,boo hooio pathetic so pathetic. it won't wash.

Katie had huge issues working out where Spiers fitted in, we all did. Apart from the precious ones like lamb chops, Hyde and Janice Henderson.

Hardly know where to start with all that’s been written recently.
Esme, you have a way with words that has made me smile, even though I suspect that just a little of it may be tongue in cheek? Or perhaps not. Either way, it is indeed a sobering read.
Why did Elaine Mc S bow down and worship Alison Speirs? And why did Alison Speirs accept the worship rather than pointing Elaine to Christ? Elaine McK S decided that Alison Speirs meant more to her than her career, livelihood, in fact, life itself….an altogether extraordinary wrong relationship that should never have been left to develop. Elaine McK had no spiritual life to call her own, everything came from Alison Speirs. Why was this left unchecked and unchallenged? It was clear to everyone that this was not healthy in any shape or form and Elaine was being given a place at the podium because she worshipped Alison . Why was this left to fester year in year out?
Alan Martin and Pauline Anderson have put their heads above the e parapet and have been well and truly shot down. They didn’t dodge the bullets but have taken them for all of us. I believe they are both good people (not perfect, no one is) and have had the courage to stand up and stand out. Pauline Anderson would appear to have done a lot of soul searching over the years and has drawn away from Struthers. I don’t think she would have been seeking a place of leadership as I’ve always heard that she is very happy in England and has no desire to come back to Scotland (can we blame her?)…I wonder if the source who is saying she sought a place of leadership or the top job is just a case of trying to muddy her name and reputation because she has spoken up? Worth a ponder perhaps.
I am in no doubt we have not heard the last of people leaving Struthers. People seem to be well and truly disillusioned with a failing church whose leadership make up the script as they go along and have their very own ‘Gospel According To Struthers’ which bears little resemblance to what I read in my Bible. For those still in Struthers who are ‘on the fence’, want to jump but are fearful, be encouraged: there is life (real life, not made up nonsense) after SMC and once you’ve taken the leap, you’ll wonder why you never did it sooner.

@Falkirkbairn67 that sounds shocking and I have no idea who you mean but I can totally resonate with what you said. I wasn’t there for Winston and had never heard of it but I asked my gran and she was there. I wasn’t at the camps at trossachs for long however I was there enough to recognise some similar things. For instance, the ring leader of our gang was often a target of spiritual bullying by those youth leaders older than us because they, I’m thinking, detected something out of the ordinary - him being gay.

Most of them lived a double life. One evening after they lead an intimate prayer meeting they again targeted me and a fellow friend; He - like me - is neurodivergent and didn’t deserve to be bullied in a place he was supposed to be protected. These older boys basically waterboarded us ‘in the name of the lord’. They were speaking in tongues and one had Andrew Jewell singing a song from his iPod touch 4th generation as put a wet towel on our faces - this was i think to trigger him - and held us down. Afterwords they hit me in my goolies and ran off. When I told the elder they scolded me for making up this story, even though we had a witness! It was maybe because their son was part of this group.

The reason they targeted us was because of our neurodivergence. Earlier that day They noticed my friend wasn’t fully in worship during the meeting. He was uncomfortable and was doing his finger flicking and I tried to talk to him. I got hit in the back of the head for talking and interrupting the sermon. Ironically enough, the same youth leaders had been talking about all types of sin earlier and now here they were policing the meeting.

The friends I made at the cult camps were fun but the culture of those at the top and middle of the spiritual ladder were definitely evil.


I hope the poor girl in your anecdote found solace later in life.

London calling was interesting reading your experience at camp
I think the boys you speak of is the Sons of the same youth leader in spoke of for what I have heard.
This seems a common thing it seems in Smc . Me being a parent and Nana to 8 grand kids I can assure you if anyone told me any of them bullied other kids anytime I can tell you they would be punished and made to apologise to the kids they bullied. Also they would be in my eyesight 24/7 till end of camp.

Sorry to say she is no longer with us. For what I heard she went to another church with a fellow ex falkirk youth member after I left and were treated great. But sadly died before I plucked up the courage to find.my youth friends again 4p years on

I can assure you, Londonscalling, that Pauline Anderson's motivation for writing the open letter was purely altruistic and vengeful. She didn't get the "top spot" and basically went in the huff. Read previous posts. This woman has proven to be a sanctimonious bully and in order to gain any credibility should come on here and apologise to those she hurt...perhaps in an open letter since that seems to be her modus operandi.
