Can anyone describe specific methods are used to recruit for Uma?

Where and how does Uma advertise?

If anyone can describe a recruitment process that might help others avoid
stepping into the trap.

Well, definitely sounds familiar, and I completely understand not wanting to possibly expose your identity...understand that very very well. I hope you weren't too harmed in the process, and that you were able to get out before getting too "in."

Corboy, my experience of her recruiting is...

she teaches yoga & offers Ayurvedic consultations. She is powerful, extremely charismatic, has a LOT of energy, and does "intriguing" (depending on your perspective) things such as shaking, hissing, growling, convulsing. She love-bombs HARD. Many of the people who stood up so strongly for her on the FACT expose were, in my opinion, not past the love-bombing stage.

As people become involved they will start to hear about things like "the process" and "conscious death" and "serving Uma to serve your death." (I don't know if these phrases are still in use but these were some that were in use when I was around). "Inner sanctum" was another phrase in use. And "the door."

This will all be coupled with "warnings" that Uma is "dangerous" because she is "Death itself," and being around her is an "acid bath" that strips away layers of ego to reveal your true nature. "The consequences" of being around here are spoken of often, and its said that because you are playing with "God's power" or "Uma's fire" that "the consequences" will increase for any "unconscious action" (deemed so by Uma).

At the time people were required to sign a waiver and have their parents sign the waiver that suggested that things such as HIV, "spontaneous" STDs, broken limbs, miscarriages, psychotic breaks, etc are all possible "consequences" to "the process" with Uma. There was also an NDA to be signed.

Again, I don't know if this is all still in practice. But generally speaking I'd be aware that there is a definite "love bombing" process, a series of "warnings" (that I heard someone dub as "sexy warnings" because they were often presented in a way of "well, if you're strong enough..." or "if you stay you are choosing Truth, if you leave you are living a lie..." etc.), and at some point thereafter...the trauma-bonding begins.

Sounds like the subtext is that those willing to take the risk and plunge into Uma's fire 'have what it takes' and those who stay away are written off as
'not tough enough'.

A subtle dare.

How many of us feel secure enough to say, "Yep. I am not tough enough - not tough enough to plunge myself into Uma's acid bath.'

there is a dangerous region of the spiritual scene where abusive gurus are supported, even endorsed.

To be regarded as a 'real' and 'serious' disciple, you are expected to abandon
all claim to fundamental human rights.

Ken Wilber wrote this endorsement of Andrew Cohen, an egregiously abusive "spiritual teacher."

This sounds similar to what some describe of the scene around Uma.

[www3.telus.net]

Quote

When it comes to spiritual teachers, there are those who are safe, gentle, consoling, soothing, caring; and there are the outlaws, the living terrors, the Rude Boys and Nasty Girls of God realization, the men and women who are in your face, disturbing you, terrifying you, until you radically awaken to who and what you really are.

And may I suggest?: choose your teachers carefully.

If you want encouragement, soft smiles, ego stroking, gentle caresses of your self-contracting ways, pats on the back and sweet words of solace, find yourself a Nice Guy or Good Girl, and hold their hand on the sweet path of stress reduction and egoic comfort. But if you want Enlightenment, if you want to wake up, if you want to get fried in the fire of passionate Infinity, then, I promise you: find yourself a Rude Boy or a Nasty Girl, the ones who make you uncomfortable in their presence, who scare you witless, who will turn on you in a second and hold you up for ridicule, who will make you wish you were never born, who will offer you not sweet comfort but abject terror, not saccharin solace but scorching angst, for then, just then, you might very well be on the path to your own Original Face.

Most of us, I suspect, prefer our spiritual teachers to be of the Nice-Guy variety. Soft, comforting, non-threatening, a source of succor for a worn and weary soul, a safe harbor in the samsaric storm. There is nothing wrong with that, of course; spirituality comes in all sorts of flavors, and I have known some awfully Nice Guys. But if the flavor tends toward Enlightenment instead of consolation, if it drifts away from soothing dreams toward actually waking up, if it rumbles toward a God realization and not egoic fortification, then that demands a brutal, shocking death: a literal death of your separate self, a painful, frightening, horrifying dissolution—a miraculous extinction you will actually witness as you expand into the boundless, formless, radical Truth that will pervade your every cell and drench your being to the core and expand what you thought was your self until it embraces the distant galaxies. For only on the other side of death lies Spirit, only on the other side of egoic slaughter lies the Good and the True and the Beautiful. "You will come in due course to realize that your true glory lies where you cease to exist," as the illustrious Sri Ramana Maharshi constantly reminded us. Your true glory lies on the other side of your death, and who will show you that?

Not the Nice Guys and not the Good Girls. They don't want to hurt your feelings. They don't want to upset you. They are here to whisper sweet nothings in your ear and place consolation prizes in the outstretched hand of the self-contraction, balm for a war-torn weary ego, techniques to prop it up in its constant battle with the world of otherness. In a sense, it's very easy being a Nice-Guy teacher: no muss, no fuss, no wrestling with egoic resistance and exhausting confrontation. Be nice to the ego, pat it on the back, have it count its breaths, hum a few mantras.

Rude Boys know better. They are not here to console but to shatter, not to comfort but to demolish. They are uncompromising, brutal, laser-like. They are in your face until you recognize your Original Face—and they simply will not back off, they will not back down, they will not let up until you let go—radically, fully, completely, unhesitatingly. They live as Compassion—real compassion, not idiot compassion—and real compassion uses a sword more often than a sweet. They deeply offend the ego (and the greater the offense, the bigger the ego). They are alive as Truth, they are everywhere confronted with egos, and they choose the former uncompromisingly.

Fritz Perls, the founder of Gestalt Therapy, used to say that nobody comes to a therapist to get better (although they always say they do); they really come to perfect their neurosis. Just so, nobody comes to a spiritual teacher to get Enlightenment (although everybody claims they do); rather, they come to a spiritual teacher to learn more subtle and sophisticated egoic games—in this case, the game of "Look at me being really spiritual."

After all, what is it in you that brings you to a spiritual teacher in the first place? It's not the Spirit in you, since that is already enlightened and has no need to seek. No, it is the ego in you that brings you to a teacher: you want to see yourself in the presence of the spiritual game, you want to meet yourself tomorrow as a realized being—in plain language, you want your ego to continue into a spiritual paradise.

And what's a poor teacher to do, confronted with such egoic cunning? Everybody who comes to a spiritual teacher comes egoically motivated. And teachers have two choices in the face of this onslaught of the separate selves, this conference of the self-contractions: they can play to the audience, or they can blow the entire building up.

Andrew Cohen is a Rude Boy. He is not here to offer comfort; he is here to tear you into approximately a thousand pieces...so that Infinity can reassemble you, Freedom can replace imprisonment, Fullness can outshine fear. And that simply will not happen if all you want is consolation, soothing prayers, ruffle-free platitudes, "It will all be okay." Well, it will not be okay if you want Enlightenment. It will, in fact, be hell, and only Rude Boys are rude enough to tell you that, and to show you that—if you can stand the rudeness, stay in the fire, burn clean as Infinity and radiate as the stars.

Ugh, that sounds exactly what it was like around Uma! Different flavor but same idea. And we all know what happened with Andrew Cohen...

She lead'Laya Yoga' and offered Ayurveda Consultations. I think she still does. I had been informed by a friend on Google search she came up as a business advertised as
'Uma Inder Yoga and Ayurveda Consultant'
- 'Health consultant in Indonesia'
Jl.Raya Singakerta, Singakerta, Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali, 80571

but for some reason this does not come up on Google search where I am.

She will invite you for further 'consultations' and then 'ghost consultations - paid for consultations but is not conducted so she can have more free time, in the name of 'love' and 'service'. Invitation extends to breakfasts, teas, dinner, privates at her house, and so on, I guess depending how 'commited' you are, or maybe more suitably: how much you want to do for her. She was always greedy for money and free labor.

Its very encouraging that FACT posted an expose, now others have some more information to consider and reflect on.

I agree that people were pulled into the group through consultations, meetings after class and through friends already in the group.

Corboy, from my own experience and research - this gives detail of the requirements people were following in the group or as they were entering the group. In my opinion it is quite a clear overview of the group, how people are drawn in and the various aspects, stages and processes of being in the group. Hope it offers insight. The following is taken from documents written by some of Uma’s closest followers in 2014 :

“Requirements Step 1. Preliminary Requirements for Participation on Forum

Initial Steps:

First step - Class: For those wanting to practice with Umaa you can attend Laya - Kundalini Tantra Yoga classes at Yoga Barn, these occur three times a week. It's a public class where you can learn about the tradition of this practice and have greater context for the teachings. You will be able to experience an essential and preliminary part of the process. Class is a practice of clearing the way, purification, removing blocks, both mental and physical, being in a circle, transparency, asking questions, speaking what
arises and listening. This is the beginning. Teachings are weaved throughout the practice. Some may have no resonance for the teachings and others may have experiences that lead to a desire for greater integration. Its a step into the process of what it is to "relax all expectations" (U). It's a way to determine whether you
wish to engage further.

Second step - Satsang: There is no invitation and you show up self responsible. It's an open system and doors are always open. This involves a greater degree of participation and self
responsibility. It is also a place for you to have a voice, where
every one is free to come and speak their concerns, fears,
doubts, objections, questions, experiences and to integrate
further. It is also a place where you can co-create a conversation with Umaa. The only requirement is that you offer up your transparency as it spontaneously arises, what happens is relative to this. Transparency because when sitting in a circle others can often feel what is not spoken, which can lead to undigested residue. There is an understanding that there is no "private world of thoughts and feelings" (U). This is where you come with “no expectations and prepare for anything" (U).

Third step, if there is a desire to immerse yourself into a greater degree of commitment and sustained and continued integration with Umaa, then you may do so through active participation on the forum. The forum is a place where we can meet Umaa in 'Naked Truth' as the mirror of Absolute Truth. This comes from a desire for Absolute Love.
This is a process that once begun may take 12 years or more to complete. It is a process of going into all that was hidden and what arises may not seem spiritual. It is painstaking work,
intensive and can take hours to integrate, it's a sacrifice of time. This process is relentless once begun and can seem endless. This process is death. "Enter at your own risk" (U). It is not for everyone.
All conditions and requirements are seen in light of the
subjective circumstances unique to each individual, "for whom, where and when" (U).

Forum Participation
The only requirement for interacting on the forum is the offering up of transparency. To speak anything and everything as it arises and to leave no stone unturned, to speak the smallest insignificant thoughts. To not speak them may leave you unable to digest what you experience here. To speak them is showing up transparently real in front of all, as a way to purify what is latent within us.

Prerequisites to Joining the Forum:
1. State in writing what joining the forum means to you and why you desire to do so.
2. Sign the waiver.
This insures that you are self responsible for your choices and
any and all consequences related to this. It is an acknowledgment that you are a willing participant, that you have been warned of the dangers of Laya - Kundalini Tantra Yoga and and having read them you choose to engage further.
2. Sign the nondisclosure agreement.
This protects the identities and information of forum members
both in Bali and abroad. It also protects material from Umaa’s
teachings or classes from being sold or marketed without
Umaa’s consent, including but not limited to audio, video,
books, and live classes or workshops.

Requirements:
Full disclosure of your mental and medical history. Laya -
Kundalini Tantra Yoga practices carry certain risks, and it is
essential that you provide this information before you begin this process.
Full disclosure of any addictions including pornography,
facebook, food addictions, eating disorders, gambling and any
debt.
Full disclosure of any and all drug use, this applies to
recreational, medicinal plants, and prescription medication
outside of a doctor's recommendation, alcohol and cigarettes.
Those taking such substances will be evaluated on a case by
case basis and it maybe determined and recommended that some not participate further. Any addictions and drug use can be harmful to those practicing Laya - Kundalini Tantra Yoga and this would need to be addressed before participation on the forum. They are simply ways of retoxing your body when we are in the process of detoxing and purifying, its counter to the purpose of this practice. Also if Kundalini has been awakened in you then there is also a potential for danger.

Offerings:
Dakshina is an offering to Umaa of goods or services. There is no requirement for offerings of anything save transparency. All successful offerings of dakshina are made out of an overflow of gratitude from the abundance of the giver. Money given with expectations, conscious or not will be returned or diverted to a project appropriate to the intention of the giver. Currently all members of the forum, including Umaa, are of independent financial means.”

“Requirements Step 2. Introduction to the Forum
A forum for the naked truth - This forum is a living work that
thrives through active participation from us. It needs to be fed. If you’re merely observing posts on this forum without actually
responding with reflections or offering up what is true for you,
you’re likely not digesting what is offered here...and what
doesn’t get digested becomes toxic. The moderators will go
through the list of forum members every month or so and
remove those who haven’t participated in recent weeks (after
advance notice).
"If you fear that what you get is not what you need....Take heed. What you get has nothing to do with what you think you need. Which is why what you get only starts when you relax into what is. What is, is what happens when you allow it ALL to be. You forget too easily the bliss beyond duality. The whole new way of being beyond hard or soft. That you ride into when you allow me to be whatever it takes. To reveal the choice you can make.Between Free and your compression into 2-D." Umaa”

Definitions:
Non-participating observer: Someone who watches what
happens without speaking or engaging in any way. Perhaps s/he believes s/he has a private world of thoughts or feelings. Nonparticipating observers receive little to no fruit and actually
toxify themselves by not speaking up their questions, concerns, judgments. On the forum, this might be someone who only read posts occasionally, who never responds to other posts and doesn’t write any posts of their own.
- Participating observer: Someone who stays on the outskirts but listens actively to discussions and may ask some questions. On the forum, I consider this to be someone who reads others’ posts but never responds and/or someone who only posts their own experiences/questions without engaging with others.
- Co-creating participator: Someone who fully engages and
participates, who surrenders fully to offer up him/herself
transparently. On the forum, for me this means jumping into the stream of posts, offering reflections to fellow svakul and
offering up your own questions, concerns and experiences
without editing your thoughts as they stream into text.

First Posts:
-A detailed biography of your life to date. This will be posted
under your name, in the ‘US’ subforum.
-Your experiences with Umaa and your context for this relating.”

Disgusting. It puts all the burden on the disciple.

Soooo a person is expected to give full disclosure about his or her medical and emotional condition, plus all drugs used.

What about confidentiality? Does Uma sign and give you documentation that she and her minions will protect YOUR confidentiality?

Disciples who sign that waiver and non disclosure statement have agreed to respect Uma's intellectual property. Well, where does Uma reciprocate by respecting disciple's confidentiality, eh?

Oh, Corboy is unenlightened and toxic and has forgotten the main point. A perfectly enlightened being such as Uma has zero obligations to disciples.

Now, for the other stuff. Look at how non participants and occasional participants on the forums are invalidated, devalued and put down.

If former disciples have revealed highly sensitive information about themselves to Uma, could this possibly contribute to lingering anxiety, even terror after they have severed all social contact with Uma?

It must be a ghastly feeling to wake up and realize that one has entrusted such
tender and sensitive information to someone who has shown herself to be so very harsh.

Great way to control people is to do exactly this: get them to disclose embarrassing information while they are in the early stages of trusting you.

Later on, they will want to keep trusting you despite their many misgivings.

It ispainful and frightening to wonder if a person is untrustworthy after you've made yourself 'transparent'.

Rather than face this, it is tempting to ignore one's misgivings and hope for the best.

Abusive leaders like to compare themselves to Jesus
Posted by: corboy ()
Date: December 15, 2017 10:15PM

When they face bad publicity, abusive leaders often whine/whinge that Jesus was persecuted too.

No, folks. You cannot compare yourselves to Jesus.

Jesus had so little control over people that even his disciples misunderstood him.

Jesus warned the he would be a homewrecker. Most high demand leaders conceal how destructive they will be to your family relationships. Jesus gave people the bad news up front.

Jesus did not demand that followers tell him private details of their lives. He was too busy teaching and healing to waste time fucking around spying into his disciple's private lives.

The abusive leaders we discuss here on CEI message boards are control freaks who demand total domination over followers' beliefs, emotions, actions.

Jesus had so little control over his own disciples that:

* Some of the disciples were jealous of each other and squabbled over which of them would be the greatest.

* His disciples constantly misunderstood what he was saying.

* Many chose to leave when the going got tough.

* His disciples deserted him when the police arrived to arrest him.

* He was betrayed to the government by his own accountant.

Jesus did not even have ability to control the behavior of non disciples.

*He was run out of his home town

John 6:15

[biblehub.com]

* After he distributed food to a huge group, Jesus realized they were going
to kidnap him, make him king so they'd get free food on demand.

A typical cult leader would have exploited the free food angle and used it to gain PR and attract more followers.

Jesus did not do this. He fled and hid.
