My father, who attends an American Baptist Church, had an operation three weeks ago. During the operation while I was in the waiting room my father’s “pastor” showed up. This pastor had taken part of the day off from his normal job (federal court official) to be with my dad. He has a degree from a divinity school and also served a Christian mission to the Philippines.
We began talking and I mentioned to him that I used to attend a “Latter Rain” type of church. He said, “Never heard of that.” That was the end of the religious discussion.
He was totally courteous, showing respect for me and my dad as well as giving part of his time in a serving manner. It was like a breath of fresh air and very strange to me since he seemed to operate on a level of love, service and concern only.
I need to learn about the “loving levels of service and ways of life” existing in perhaps ninety-nine percent of the rest of Christianity. It is a “Twilight Zone” experience when you begin to wonder if you’ve been walking around in a “cloud” for the greater part of your life.
I suspect “Militant Latter Rain Manifest Sons of God Teachings” have unduly besmirched and judged the rest of Christianity as well as generating a strong delusion for unfortunate adherents.
