Hi, this is John Lobur. What Micro-Macro posted about me is incorrect. I am still part of the Guru's group.

I also disagree with his or her assessment of the teacher.

I also still stand by everything I wrote in this thread.

Thank you.

Sorry to hear that John.
You seem like an intelligent and discerning chap.
Be sure not to miss Sharon's latest video:

At some point you'll snap out of it.
Until then....

Hi micro-macro,

Thank you for the compliment.

Just watched the video you mentioned. Doesn't seem to scream "run to the hills." Or maybe I'm missing something?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, however.

This place is a sanctuary.

No one is obligated to reply to any query unless he or she feels like it.

Guru Watch:

My guess would be "Swami G" probably loses followers because she appears to be a "cult leader" and/or fraud.

That's usually the reason why such groups have defections and lose members.

I watched one of the group videos on YouTube and in my opinion the Swami G group appears to be little more than a personality-driven "cult."

It's sad how people are exploited by supposed "gurus" that are really little more than con artists running a scam.

Those that stay when they suspect something isn't quite right usually feel that leaving after years of personal investment seems to be too difficult. That is, that the "exit costs" are too high. It is difficult to walk away from a group or leader when you feel deeply invested after years of devotion. And in some cult situations there can be further complications through entanglements regarding business concerns, romantic relationships, friendships, etc.

Look at the Zimbardo Prison experiment.

Students were told at outset they were free to leave.

But after a few days in the sociall isolated prison simulation, everyone forgot they were free to leave.

Thats the power of isolation and group dynamics.

And that, after just a few days.

If anyone receives a private message that they find worrisome, send a copy of that message to Rick Ross, owner and moderator of this message board.

And this is not cowardice. It is prudence. Because the PM is private and out of public view, the only way to keep it clean is for anyone who feels concerned to send a PM to Mr Ross.

Holly already knows to do this, btw
