An older posting, but in it, a clue about how David perceives himself....
Of course, when one learns by example, there is always the problem of poor examples. In leadership, for example, I picked up some bad habits from both my own father and from David Berg (of Children of God notoriety). Both gave me the impression that "authority" is linked with "blasting" people who have done something wrong. I have tried to correct that in recent years (and I think my father did too, as he got older); but there are a lot of people who have been hurt by my blasts in the past, and I'm very sorry about that.[

I'll ignore the implied assertions about "leadership style" for the moment ("Honest" and "strong" the only fault being occasionally a little "overly assertive") and focus on the much vaunted "apology",
David has never privately contacted me to apologize for the misguided "blasts" I received in my day....nor am I aware of him EVER having privately contacted any other former (or CURRENT) members to apologize for the denigrating abuse he may have publicly subjected them to, time and time again, within the JesusChristians, as an act of belittlement, not to mention the years of unpaid servitude spent selling him....,
BUT...
...David would like to be perceived by the public at large, as a "humble" and "contrite" leader, hence we see an "apology" (without any intention of actually righting any of the injuries he has caused to the individuals concerned)
BROADCAST in this little passage....
...and now David can tell himself, that if perchance he has ever done any "wrong"....well at least he has had the "character" to apologize and of course, those involved all owe it within themselves to "forgive" him, should they be remotely Christian...
I think this farce would genuinely be, how he "resolves" any personal unease he may feel over he past (and present?) behaviour...."reconciling" himself with the truth...
