Former devotees of Muktananda and Gurumayi refer to 'shakti' energy and have reported experiences similar to what you describe.

Wonder if this Dharma Yoga stuff includes material from that set of toxic gurus?

Yes my experience was toxic. Shakti energy is very powerful, like a drug. I was high off of it preaching God in my cycling classes.
