duxdeluxe: You support other LGATs such as Sterling Institute of Relationship, how is Justin Sterling accountable? On other threads you have apologized for other LGATs and even endorsed them, why not Landmark? IMO -- Sterling as an LGAT weekend is potentially as damaging or more damaging than Landmark Education Forum.

duxdeluxe: I have been receiving complaints first had about Sterling from past participants, concerned spouses, families and friends for more than ten years. Sterling has a horrible history of complaints, bad press and is generally seen as a fringe group and not well respected. It is not necessary for someone to drive drunk, smoke or attend Klan meetings to know it's a bad idea.

RRModerator, I completely agree with everything you said factuallyabout Justin Sterling and his work. I just disagree with what it all means. For some people it its probably the last place they should go. For others it might be exactly what the doctor ordered. (and yes some therapists have recommended it to their clients) I support forums like this one because I feel people should kno

duxdeluxe: You seem to be here to defend Sterling and MDI. You are posting at another thread largely defending Justin Sterling and his privately owned for-profit company Sterling Institute for Relationship. See Sterling has a notorious history of bad press and complaints. See You say, "Men tend not to respond well to ultimatums. telling your husband you will leave him if

duxdeluxe: Sterling is a for-profit privately owned company, not a church, government, political party or branch of military service. The Sterling company is based upon the personality, leadership and programs devised by Justin Sterling (aka Arthur ''Artie'' Kasarjian). Sterling has no credentials in marriage and family therapy, counseling, etc. and has only his pers

There are questions posed seeking information and those posed as rhetorical. I read yours as rhetorical, the danger of the internet and not having the ability to speak face to face. You say, "T

I never said I "oppose the Sterling Weekend and would not recommend that anyone do the Weekend under any circumstances." If you are going to moderate this board please be responsible and do not misquote what people say. The LD differs from the Sterling Mens Weekend possibly everyway imagineable. Just the size of the event distiguishes them. There is no denying the difference i

QuotenaivenomoreHas anyone unwittingly been "the other woman" with a Sterling man? I have read through many of the threads here, and find it all intriguing, but I was very much in love with someone who claimed to be single, even does professional trainings about living an "intentional and mindful life"... I just discovered his lies. I had suspected he was a coward when he abru

Hi Naivenomore, A lot of your concerns/ questions are the same as those I came out with in the end of my relationship with a Sterling man. I'm pretty sure that I know how you feel. That kind of manipulation is a pretty mind-boggling thing to have been through. I know that Dave Vanian is trying to create a balanced perspective, and I appreciate any information that comes to the table,

Naivenomore, As a former Sterling man who does not like much about Justin and his organization, and is not a brainwashed idiot, I have to say that I think it is highly unlikely that his behavior has anything to do with the fact that he was/is involved with Sterling. In my time there I never once encountered men engaging in infidelity, or for that matter, condoning it. I believe that is/was the

Nancy, That seems to be the pattern. Find vulnerable men and convince them to do The Weekend so that they can have Justin's approval. FYI: I do not blame you for wanting to steer clear of a 'Sterling Man.' Many have a bad reputation. You are a woman, you posess intuition men do not have, you know a good man when you see/meet one. I think you will do the right thing. The "

Maybe it was just the guy -- it was at least partially the guy because he is still responsible for his own actions to some degree, but I've read enough tid bits in other people's posts to see some uncanny similarities in behavior and to get a better understanding of the philosophies that would condone emotional cruelty and physical violence towards women if interpreted to their extreme

Pinky, I was involved with Sterling off and on for a number of years. Some good experiences but overall it left a bad taste in my mouth. There is a lot the organization will not tell you when they want you to sign up. The bottom-line to them is Justin's bottom-line. Enroll, enroll, enroll. And once in, if you do not enroll other men yourself, cult-like tactics are used to elicit guilt and

One thing is true that Sterling said though "there is nothing like the love of a woman". I have my woman standing beside me on this ultimatum and I hope her father realizes he is playing with fire. I’ll update soon… I look forward to seeing your update. I ta

I found out why their website was down. They changed the name of the website back to what it was a long time ago. It is now www.sterling-institute.com. Still, it's a colossal waste of electrons. They just had a men's weekend this past weekend in Oakland, and I stayed home and prayed that very few, if any, of the men who attended "bought into" the crap Justin spews at peopl

You know, the thought had not occurred to me about it being "fakery". Wouldn't that just be a typical LGAT maneuver?! Maybe they're revamping their website. Still, I had a moment of hope there... I just want my friends back. Of course, I am not sure now if they ever were true friends, but they seemed like such good people. Having them in our lives did change us foreve

My husband and I recently had our entire lives tossled upside down because of the Sterling Institute and the hold Justin has on some of our friends (and yes, they know Justin Sterling personally and have been active in his organization for well over a decade, paticipating in the brainwashing of everyday folks just looking for some meaning in life, which Justin w

From what I have found, Justin Sterling (aka Arthur Kasarjian) is a former student of EST (Werner Erhard) which is now known as Landmark Forum. Sterling teaches the dominance of the male over women. According to him, women are 100% responsible for the relationship and for stroking the man's ego. The woman is to completely trust the man even if he cheats on her. Sterling says that men hav

I agree that it sounds like Sterling crap. We have some really sweet friends that we cared about a whole lot, spent a lot of time with. They tried to get my husband to go to a men's weekend, said it would change his life, had NO answer for us when we asked them point blank what organization conducted these "events". Mentioned they would let me know when a women's we

That's an interesting (though long) read. I like the part about hering's scatterbrained etc. Notice the references to Justin Sterling and group therapr/psychology. Interesting note, the local Woman within chapter just had to cancel their training weekend for low enrollment. I hope it's a sign of things to come.

Quotebigboyx5Can anyone answer how the three founders of MKP met? Was it through another LGAT? I'm just curious how they knew each other? I can't believe that there isn't anyone who has ever heard about Justin Sterling or the Sterling Institute. But then again there have only been 20,000 members since 1979. How creditable could that be? Good or Bad I haven't heard a thing except for Rick Ross's website. Most of that stuff made me sick. So if you know anything good or bad please let me know. I appreciate eve

QuoteVodnikHi. This is my first post here. Since lurking on this forum and learning about LGATs, I have been wondering if anyone can give me a name for the particular LGAT I am about to describe. I preface it with a little bit of a story, and the fact that receiving an answer is a complete shot in the dark. A long time ago (1990-92), I lived in California and had a friend whose name I will wit

Hello all, my name is Morgan, and I am a former staff member of Sterling Institute. I was the first male staff person, and I attended the very first men's seminar, in January of 1981. I was directly instrumantal in shifting the focus of Justin's work with men, from being more manageble by women, toward achieving a fuller sense of themselves as men. In looking up the Sterling in

Hello, my name is Morgan. I am responding to your inquiry about participation in the Sterling Institute seminars. I am in a unique position to do so, for several reasons. I attended the very first men's seminar, then called "Men, Sex and Power", in January of 1981. I had been volunteering as an assistant for EST, and was induced to enroll by a good female friend there,
