QuotenettieThe stress gets created by thinking in the way you are thinking. So true. The lgat version of self-improvement is the opposite! It's the antithesis of mental health. When I read or hear strategies for mental health I'm struck by how lgats teach the opposite. I thought of an example yesterday but don't remember it now. Cognitive approaches discuss all-or-nothi

question lady - We were instructed to stand a certain way (and for photos I incorporate the position when sitting). When making presentations to the group we were to have our hands at our sides, no "fig leaf" or "reverse fig leaf". For some reason when posing for pictures I think of where I am placing my arms, whether sitting or standing. I didn't know it at the ti

"Looking at oneself" is a unique endeavor when done the lgat way. As usual, there's a twist. The lgat way means that when you "look at yourself" you are looking for how YOU are at fault, how YOU are screwing up creating your reality. In your case question lady, the thing you're doing that's screwing you up is having expectations. See how easy it is to fin

Quotesonnie_deeI don't think people lack compassion more that they are trying to put the teachings they have learnt into practice and these teachings often overtake a persons natural compassion. The thing is, the "teachings" teach self-rejection, self-disconnection and lack of self-compassion. When one follows them one will be cold-hearted, as that is the nature of the "

Funny, what Tippytoe says is my sister's alibi. My sister traces the problems we had post-lgat to our childhood! HAHAHAHA! Sorry, I ain't buying it. What a coincidence that after the lgat her personality changed, then things changed between us. She denies that the lgat had anything to do with what happened between us. It couldn't be more obvious. All our lives we worked thin

Question lady, I feel for you. I don't have an answer for you as to whether there's a way to deal with it or if you need to leave. I can only commiserate with you, and also tell you that it's my observation and experience that lgats turn perfectly good human beings into disconnected, dehumanized, heart-LESS robots. My sister went through the lgat just as I was about done wit

QuoteGhost Dancer I even told her that we should go get counseling with someone who has knowledge with the working of these groups and can explain it better than I can. I feel very much out of my element with this and think it would help. Hi GD, I think this is a great idea. QuoteexImpactQuoteskepticThat's great that you found a therapist who is actually helpful. I'm about to quit looking for one such as yours, who's actually intelligent. Oh yes, they nod their heads and seem to understand, but in the end, I don't f

QuotenettieI read in Maurice's thread Landmark Forum revisited (inspired by me :-) ) that one of the things that makes it hard for people to get out of Landmark's clutches is that you are taught during the Forum to "hate" your old self. That is very much to the point. How do you relate to your old self when you know it is full of sh-t? It becomes a big dilemma even if you know

QuoteexImpactGOD, after I left the Impact LGAT, I was asked to find a therapist by my family (they begged me really). In the first session, no sooner had she asked me to close my eyes and meditate, I started to hyper-ventilate. She learned pretty quickly what the extent of the damage was. I'm fortunate she is brilliant, I've done about a 165 (still working on the 180) turnaround since s

If my behavior is negative to you, that means that YOU'RE being negative! You're right, this never-ending negative/positive loop is NUTSSSSSSSSS. When the mind is occupied playing games on itself it can't question the point of the whole thing or do much of anything. It's really disabled.

There's also the fact that lgats MISuse and hide behind many different ideas/concepts/philosophies, to give an air of legitimacy to their "trainings". When one takes an lgat at face value and defends an lgat on the basis of the stolen and twisted legitimate schools of thought (of whatever stripe), one is being duped. exImpact, I'm wondering if you have discovered a link (cause & effect) between the lgat experience & the anxiety you started to have post-lgat. QuoteTimberline I have experienced the Klemmer seminars, and I would say that most people approach the seminars without any ability to think critically, and that this was not something done to them in a seminar. Klemmer did not take their ability to think critically away, they never had it to begin with. This is true of the majority of the US, and is true of all of us in some form. Point w

And for playing their sophisticated tricks on the unsuspecting program attendees, lgats get to make some money. And that's what it's all about. Yet advertising their "seminars" as the miraculous answer to both. What a li

Quotequestion lady It's tough balancing my responsibilities to my husband, and my responsibilites to myself. That's how it was with my sister. Quotequestion lady I don't think all feelings do fit neatly into one of those boxes. So I am wondering, were you really wanting to control a woman? Were you really wanting her approval? Or were you just wanting sex? I mean, sometimes a person just wants sex. Would it have been enough if women just approved of you, but didn't have sex with you? Lgats are so twisted. On the one

Thanks ex. Lgats cause such destruction. It's sickening. The lgat we were in is an unknown one (because the leader is sooooooo ineffective, yet he was teaching us how to be winners, blah blah blah).
