I admit, I kinda like this song...and yet there's something triggering about it. I can't quite put my finger on it.

Reminds me of Mindshift. Anyone from COHK remember those guys? The band members all played music for worship in San Diego (I still have one of their albums, somewhere). Jason Sayer, their keyboardist ended up leading the church in Palmer Lake (took over for his dad). I used to hang out with him and play piano back in San Diego.

I think an appropriate name for a punk band in TLWF would be Mindfuck, but then they would likely be shunned by the fellowship, and that would be no fun.
Anyway, glad you had the opportunity to play music in the church. Finding a healthy outlet made the place a bit more tolerable--at least for those who managed to do that.

Note: My wife, without my permission, sold my trombone in a garage sale in the mid-70's, which in retrospect was probably a good thing. It would have been tempting for me to bring it to some of the violent intercession services, just to add to the noise. I'm certain at least a few people were spared Tinnitus as a result of her bold (Elijah-like) decision. A belated thanks to her.

Ahhh…, the violent intercession meetings. That was the straw that broke the camel’s back for me. I was driving home at 1:30am one Monday morning (after a Sunday night service at Coniah). After some 2 hours of fist pumping and hollering “we loose the apostle”, realizing I had to start work in about 6 hours, I decided I’d had enough. I told my wife in the AM that I wanted to set all that aside for a while - to which she replied, good, I did it a while ago.

Maybe it would have gone better if I’d had a tambourine ;-).

Thank the universe you did not have a tambourine, TheJewel.

It was during the nineties at a conference that I got busted by the sound booth guys for unauthorized musical accompaniment with a shakere. It was a gourd instrument with a net of beads covering the outside. I had purchased it from a man calling himself Shakere Joe in Echo Park. Great fun!

If it's unauthorized, that means you must do it. It is now mandatory. :)
