Getting back my life and thoughts after LGAT/ Landmark

Let me point out a few good things I learn;

- to speak in public (learn in the ILP)
- how to really listen to people
- how to keep promises (that was also used against me when I had agreed to some Landmark activity that I really didn't have time for)
- how to let people be as they are without judging them (but the would be really ok only if they then signed up for the Forum)

This is the type of stuff you would get in a basic sales training course, which would have been nice if they'd informed you that's what it was. More than anything else, Landmark, and groups like Landmark want people to go out and sell more Landmark. People don't buy things from people they don't like, who don't seem to be listening to them or interested in them, who are rude or aggressive, or who judge them or make fun of them. The usually aggressive or predatory types who are drawn to sales have to be taught basic courtesy because they aren't used to extending it. In other words, they have to learn these methods to manipulate (or guide or persuade or convince) their prospects to buy from them. Aside from that, these are the same manners and decency that have been of use to salesmen as well as everybody else since men walked upright. You'd get more out of "How to Win Friends and Influence People," which came out in 1937, which reminds me of another book from the same year that was the basis for much of the Landmark (est) "training," Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich," which is probably kissing cousins to "The Secret."

Thanks for your sympathy and your care.

I think that I already have forgiven myself - I know I was used by them.

I wonder what inner boundary you must cross to go all the way to the top and become a forum leader. :?

LOL...

You'd have to turn into a sociopath. You'd have to develop a sense of entitlement. You'd have to enjoy the thrill of lording it over others. You'd have to get an emotional "charge" out of "scoring." You'd have to see things as some sort of game in which you are a winner.

I met with a lady who was once married to a forum leader wannabe. They both were heavily involved in Landmark.

When he was on the way of becoming a forum leader she had to flee their house because she was getting more and more scared of him.

He said to her at one time - and this I heard her saying to me face to face.

[b:138c0f1f3f]"if it wasn't for Landmark I would kill you"[/b:138c0f1f3f]

I guess he understood that he couldn't both comitt a murder and get away with it.

I got really cold when I heard her say this. I believe she told the truth.

She was very fragile when I met her and that was if I remember correctly
2 or 3 years after she had fled. Her whole life was uprooted.

I wonder what he meant?

That everyone at Landmark would know he killed her?

That he would betray his Landmark programming by killing another Landmarker?

That he didn't want to mess up his Landmark ambitions?

That he learned how not to be a victim of someone else's behavior at Landmark?

That he'd have to undergo hours and hours of coaching ~around~ his destructive tendencies?

That he might make Landmark ~look bad?~

What?

(Where were you in your Landmark involvement when this happened?)

I wonder what he meant?
-- he ment to really kill her, murder her.

That everyone at Landmark would know he killed her?
-- well even landmark has some morals

That he would betray his Landmark programming by killing another Landmarker?
-- well she had told him that she was scared at how he was behaving during the forum leader forwards - the internal forum for forum leaders -
and she stopped supporting his ambitions to become a forum leader.

That he didn't want to mess up his Landmark ambitions?
-- well he couldn't be a forum leader in jail :)

That he learned how not to be a victim of someone else's behavior at Landmark?
-- he was coached by other forum leader that he MUST make his wife
comply and get in line. There wasn't any way he would have been able to
become a forum leader unless she supported him.

That he'd have to undergo hours and hours of coaching ~around~ his destructive tendencies?
-- probably

That he might make Landmark ~look bad?~
-- sure

What?

(Where were you in your Landmark involvement when this happened?)
-- I stopped participating 1998 and met this woman in the US 2006.

-- The husband is a forum leader. I think these events took place some
2-3 years ago in the US. I am from Europe but met this woman in the US.

She also told me that when coming back from some intense training
he shifted between two roles and he didn't seem to have control of the process. That of course scared the s-t out of her.

She also told me that for futrure forumleaders they will assign 4-5 forumleaders to keep an eye on the prospect. She said it was like having
landmark in every corner of their life; in bed when and how to have sex
etc etc.

It was really scary to hear her talking about this. She has cut all ties to landmark and anyone who could reveal her current whereabouts.

As I said the former husband now is a fullblown forum leader.

They have no contact. She still loves him - at least the guy she married.

It's a very said story. One of many.

That's about as awful as any I've heard, though thirty years of similar and worse stories have piled up in Landmark history. Too bad one of these people hasn't been willing to go to the press. There have been enough journalists looking for people who would go public but they are few and far between. It would just take one....

I want to sort out one¨thing that was actualllý beneficial
from me going to the Forum. I want to point out though, that
I dont think that the good outweighs the bad, The bad experiences
are much heavier.

- a better and more relaxed relationship to my family. I learnt
to accept them as they are and stopped trying to fix them.
I think this is a very common result for people and it
is ment to happen during the forum so people have something
that is positive so they are up to the reruiting that follows

Hi Nettie

my opinion is:
there are certainly benefits from the training, maybe just by talking to many people and realizing that we ae all human beings sharing many common problems.

But Landmark is a business cult indoctrinating people with
-Never be citical about Landmark (it's the one and only)
and recruit recruit (all your well-being and transformation depends on recruitingyou know what I mean)
