They figured out very quick they didn't want that kind of trouble, so immediately launched a counterattack, as can be seen with hundreds of posts by the Raelians on the internet to take the focus off themselves on that issue.

This strategy has been nicknamed 'astroturfing'. Or (to mix metaphors) its simliar to what happens when crabgrass is seeded into a garden. The weeds take over and choke
the variety out of the space.

People who try to read discussions that are clotted up with 'crabgrass' posts often grow tired and give up.

Sometimes the only strategy would be this:

Find a discussion on the Raelians that has been 'crabgrassed.'

Open an blank Word file.

Select All on the Raelian discussion

Copy and Paste to the Word document.

Give it a skim and ID the main usernames who provide quality information.

Then, open EDIT then put each of the good faith discussants into Find and type Next.

That way you can leapfrog over the astroturfers and read contributions from the people who have something worthwhile to contribute and not part of the strategy to wreck discussion.

So in fact the Raelians do present a threat to the public, they are not benign.
Who knows, some disturbed Raelians could hire some crazy scientist and be illegally experimenting with human cloning using Raelian female followers as live HUMAN subjects, which would be a crime against humanity

Or the crazy scientist could already be a Raelian

All of the evidence so for points to the fact that the Raelians simply fabricated about doing anything with cloning, just to get media attention. Another fraud.

But of course there could be a mentally disturbed person, who happens to be a scientist, who gets lured into the Raelian scam.
Or maybe just a mentally disturbed scientist who wants to experiment with live human cloning, which is illegal, so he looks for some place to do it. There are people advocating for this.

What does he need?
He needs financing, a location, and willing female human subjects.

The Raelians could provide all of those for him, especially the female subjects.
And what happens, like with animal cloning, when most of the babies die or are deformed?
