I speak as a former devotee of Moo, as a casualty of his method, and thankfully now as a neutral observer on the path of Advaita. I have recovered from a truly devastating time in my life which can be directly attributed to the false teaching

in various tantric traditions (and yes, these include what is collectively termed Tibetan Buddhism) there are meditations in which one visualizes the guru and internalizes the guru image, visualizes oneself as buddha for some other deity. Could this carry risks of boundary puncture and identity disruption - and make a person vulnerable to grooming by a predator in guru robes? Quote Rosenm

All of the comments following Matthew Remski's article are worth reading. Some however are particularly interesting. Quoteguest December 17, 2014 at 10:50 pm Am quite shocked reading about all this. I remember going to a Gynecologist since i wanted to take up a long course at Bihar school. For the course we needed to be tested not HIV positive and as well not having any other STD. M

According to one witness the revered founder of the entire yoga network, Satyananda Saraswati, was also abusive, not just 'Shishi' the sadistic supervisor of the Mangrove Yoga ashram. He created his own franchise, Bihar Yoga. Reports now coming out about Satyananda Saraswati -- and calls to boycott his literature until reparations are made. ;* Straight Google search on

Caste discrimination alive and well in India today. So do we really want the caste-justifying Bhagavad Gita to be a source of guidance to an American who just might be elected to the US Senate someday? American civic life is already filled with polarizing tensions. We already have a shameful gap between rich and poor. The last thing we need added to American life is politicians who a

Here is an analogy. Imagine the Four Questions as a daisy flower. Put a daisy in a gold and diamond studded vase, with expert lighting. Photographs of that daisy, enhanced by all the props, will make that flower seem special. Photograph at that same flower at noon blooming among thousands like it in some vacant lot, with a few crumpled beer cans alongside. Photos of a daisy in

Giving away a scholarship in public is one of BK's favorite tricks. It costs her nothing, and you still have to pay for the accommodation in a luxureous hotel. The next step is the Turnaround house ($ 20.000) for one month and then the certification program, which costs at least $ 40.000, if you add up all the mandatory programs you need to attend. So the work is free? I hardly think so.

Yes, this is a huge thread with lots of good research, mixed with off-topic stuff, and some flaming, etc! But lots of good material in the thread. That text might be available offline on request from the author? also, try searching for the keywords in Google.

For the last few days I made my way through this thread as a visitor. I am up to page 244. Just too much input and too often stuff that is not bk related. I skipped pages between around 130 to around 190. I am interested in reading the whole Janaki text, but when I click on the links to her blog I am told that the blog is private. If I understand correctly there are two versions of this text.

Six degrees of separation...... the Willem de Ridder who co-founded Suck magazine is the same who interviewed and introduced Byron Katie to the wider public in Amsterdam while she was still honing her guru schtick. Very likely he was instrumental in bringing together BK and Janaki also, to Janaki's detriment as a subsequent ill-paid PR, manager and all-round dogsbody. De Ridder was inv

Fanclubs? Arnold Patent? Willem de Ridder had a radio show, too in the 1990s. A media impresario. BK may have had a chance to learn by observation of de Ridder how to turn a workshop based human potential business 'gig' into a media nexus. For in addition to his radio show, Willem de Ridder had apparently used material from Arnold Patent (and to his credit, acknowledged Patent

That's unfortunate that people now have to install the Nakido Flag first, to download the PDF. Its an upload/download manager for regular users. The good thing about Nakido is that the files seem to stay there and not get deleted after 30 days of no downloads, like some other websites. But perhaps someone who already has a copy of the PDF, can upload it to a site that doesn't requir

Concerning the "Janaki & Katie-pdf" I would like to download the file, but after three days of trying I gave up, as I can't get the nakido flag to work. Is there any other way to obtain the pdf? I read throught this thread and found it very, very useful, as I had started using the work some months ago after reading two books about it. First I thought it was a great idea

There is no indication that BKI went after Janaki or her blog in that way, they don't have a leg to stand on. Obviously Janaki was just telling it like it is. Its unfortunate that people who are new to the Byron Katie system won't be able to have the informative Janaki blog to read, to be able to get full information of what is going on. But there are probably many people with co

QuoteStoic I do hope that BK has not pressured Janaki to delete her blog and that it is her own decision to move on. When I saw that the blog had been deleted, for some reason I had this thought that maybe BKI was tired of the Janaki backlash and decided it would be financially in their best interest to offer her a compensatory sum to remove it. They had no legal grounds to demand that she d

I feel very confident in stating that NO ONE is making a living solely from facilitating the work of BK. True, there are some people trained as coaches, counselors, or psychotherapists who use the work in their practices, but they do not count since they already had an established clientele. Janaki is probably the biggest success story. She basically took her coaching business and, over the years
