I thought I would write to make sure that everyone knows that the website www.gnosticawakenings.com/ or the group gnostic awakenings is the same organization as the Gnostic Movement and what was known as Gnosticweb which was was known as mysticweb. If you suspect this group of being a cult or cultish this is the best place to have that discussion. This new website is nothing more than a trick

The news has just come down to me from others that the Gnostic Movement has no started using a different website and appears to have little or no activity now on Gnosticweb. The New site is called Gnostic Awakening . Not sure what the difference is but they seem to feel the need to continually re brand themselves. If you are looking for anything on Gnosticweb, searching for it on Gnosticawakening

I was just doing some searching and I thought I would share something hilarious with everyone. It turns out that you can no longer view the "public forums" over at Gnostic Web unless you create an account. What else could this be a reaction to, other than myself and others here criticizing what they are saying and occasionally re-posting it here. Could there be a more obvious example of

Thanks so much Justdan, That is a very helpful account, certainly don't be sorry, I don't expect you to know everything just wanted to see what you did know or at least better get your perspective and you have kindly given both. I think you have give some really good clues for further research, mostly in the area of the suggestions of his sexual activities later in life. Quite li

I think they are all available online and have been published by different groups that support Samael Aun Weor. However if you were interested in knowing what he actually wrote such copies might be worth while, depending on the publisher as I don't think anyone who is currently publishing his books is trustworthy, they all have an agenda. Was this a used book store? Sounds like the store

To start with esoteric does not mean secret teachings it means deeper teachings or deeper message. exoteric means to follow the literalistic or materialist message. All the Gnostic Movement and the teaching of Samael Aun Weor attempt to do is give an esoteric sounding lesson to exoteric concepts. An esoteric message should speak to the unconscious part of your mind in a way that could not be comp

Hi Justdan, Maybe you can go more into what you know about the sexual activities of Victor Gomez aka Samael Aun Weor or at least from the perspective of what you have heard. My understanding of it from what I had heard in this thread was that he took another woman to preform "alchemy" with after his wife hit menopause. As you may have eluted to in my time with the Gnostic Movement/Gn

Thanks Justdan, That is great. I believe that it is common for Aun Weor groups to do a lot with very little money. The Gnostic Movement /Gnosticweb is the same way. Both the organization you were with and the Gnostic movement over very simliar programs, online courses, publishing of books and centres. Glorian press or what ever name it may use seems to be more middle in general than the Gno

Hi Justdan, Thanks for your contribution to our discussion, you are certainly in the right place, however if you also want to have an indepth discussion about the particular group you can also create a discussion for that as well. I participate in this discussion, when there is anything to talk about but I have also created a discussion-information piece on the group I was in (from my point of

No I am trying to do anything like that I was just point out the problems of your position. I feel I have an obligation to do so and will continue to take such action. I said you were a Samael Aun Weor follower, not that you belonged to any particular group. If you think he was a good collaborator than you need to look further. There is nothing revolutionary about what he wrote. However he di

This is pretty funny. Clearly silver here is a Samael Aun Weor follower. You wish to dispute how Victor Gomez was a plagiarizer (he was also insane by the way), but so far you have done nothing to come back the argument that has been made in this area. What did Victor do was original in any way shape or form that was not obviously created to put down others or to spread fear? I am not a bi

Ok QuickDave, I think there has been a bit of a misunderstanding. I was not saying that you need to understand a cult or new age speach to leave it but understanding and knowledge is needed in order to leave it behind. Also since we do not want to be just attacking anyone for being spiritual or religious a clear level of understanding is required to understand what a problem group is and how t

Hi QuackDave, Your perspective is helpful, however remember that knowledge is power. You can't just leave something without understanding what you are leaving, so you don't just get stuck back in it again or something like it.

Great stuff in general I like how the nonsense is being dissected here but I would also like to say that I found Sparrows balance perspective of New agers vs Atheist skeptic to be quite refreshing. It is not an easy place to be, having a balanced perspective like that.

Personally I don't know of a clear definition for the the New Age movement, accept for the sometimes applicable idea that there is a New Age coming but I like to think of them as over simplifying and perhaps perverting genuine spirituality and science. Two examples are the Gaia theory and the work of Carl Jung. When the new age movement uses these ideas they really don't know what they

Good stuff Thistle, I wish to put a note here for anyone from the Gnostic Movement who may try to dismiss criticisms based on them being literalists. The Gnostic Movement may try to attach a symbolic meaning to something in the Bible or other place, but as long as they believe that they actually happened the way they are told than they are literalists. being a non-literalists requires you to u

Hi Thistle, My believe is that true free speech, which does not really exist by the way, along with education will sort out the messes and the truth will come out. To do this you need to avoid the intimidation that can come from so many places, including lawsuits. So when I talk about Lawyers being willing to help that is what I mean a support for people who wish to speak out against cults and d

Lately I have been thinking of the interesting situation we are in with the Samael Aun Weor teachings and how to deal with all these different groups. Clearly with Victor Gomez aka Samael Aun Weor we are not dealing with a current cult leader but a former cult leader and his suspect teachings. One way to bring up a concern is just simple on the basis of his wacky ideas or the weird things he d

Keir you said "Some of these popular myths about cults (also perpetuated by them ) needs to die. The public needs to be educated about it. " How are we going to do this? We also need lawyers who believe in the principle of true freedom of religion and are willing to do pro bono work. I think it is time that someone advocated the cult watch community position. These people are abusing

I think it is safe to say that within true Gnostic Philosophy the Gnostic Movement is just another level of the demiurge or as Neo said in the Matrix Reloaded "How do I know your not just another system of control, an agent of the system" when he is speaking to the Oracle for the first time after realizing his power. It turned out he was right to a certain extent. The appearance of bein

Ok the death technique is quite a head spin, which is a task to get back into. The idea is that you would start by being "aware" or constantly on alert for any egos, essentially any undesired mental or physical occurrences, such as a song popping up or a muscles spasm or an itch. Once you notice this problem you meditate on it and then you prey to the "divine mother" for assis

Hi Quetzal, Sounds like good news, please keep us informed. One thing that may also be of mutual interest is posted about "Samaul Aun Weor" on Wkipedia and the false quotations they use to justify what is written. I am not sure if the Englsih and Spanish versions have the same content but there is some real dishonesty on the part of the posters. Wkipedia is effectively acting as a fr

I would like to point out that Seekinglight was not able even answer a simple and objective question like how he or she saw that people here were planning on getting back at teachers of the Gnostic Movement nor were they able respond positively to our reassurances that that was not the case. I am pretty sure that would go against the rules in some way and the moderator would speak up about it.
