Be very careful with that book, Halfway Up the Mountain. By the time you finish it, you may risk feeling as though your life is going to go down the drain and you're an ego driven self indulgent worm unless you submit yourself to a guru who will pound you into submission. Now, you wont read that in the book. But...if you do read the book through, monitor your states of mind and emo

Andrea, I forgot what a humorless prick he could be at times. At least he didn't order anyone to chop your head off. :-) I also had forgotten about the healing rays at the end of the awareness projections. Now that you've reminded me of it, I faintly remember wondering in the early days of doing them whether anyone had actually been healed miraculously at a distance because of thos

Here's the deal with Byron Katie. She is a businesswoman and entrepreneur, in partnership with the hubby co-writer. She is a very good salesperson, and manipulative persuader. She claims to have be suicidal for years, and then one day attained Enlightenment by her Magic Technique. that's her STORY. Her technique is exactly the false ideas being thrown around in this thread, based

Well, well, well. Dig, and what pops up? Scientology. Pat Grove is a "clear". Amazon.com has a book review on one of Pat Grove's books on "I Am" training (name of his courses) that says: Reader review: QuoteIn 1995 I participated in the Essence training, an ofspring of the I am training. Pat Grove trained Yiftach Sagiv, founder of Essence

QuoteRswintersFrom what I gathered by looking up most of the LGAT's that there seems to be more of them in California. The current crop of "transformational," "self-improvement," or "personal-development" cults trace their roots back to Mind Dynamics (Alexander Everett from England), Silva Mind Control (Jose Silva from Texas), and scientology (L. Ron Hubbard

Here is the article I mentioned in my previous post. Written my Mark Roggeman Notice when you read this how Mr. Roggeman finally points out to all of us how these LGATs all have a common background and are really "interconnected". Note, the Banquet that is given for these men on the last day was food brought in by the recruits and refrigerated until the last day. MKP did not sup

The book OUTRAGEOUS BETRAYAL is an excellent book, and a quick read. Everyone should get a copy from the library, or buy a copy and read it. It contains all sorts of information about Jack Rosenberg, Werner Erhard, and LGAT cults in general. Its all there, the wife-beating, child-abuse and child-beating, Werner Erhard's own daughter accusing him of sexual abuse, Erhard claiming he is o

You state... The people calling this a "cult" don't want to talk about that... MKP is listed under a government site as being a "watched" LGAT.....LGAT is under the heading "cult" and "watched" because of concern as to how they are doing things and treating people and the amount of money's required and their recruiting techniques. LGAT is an a

I'm not surprised. I know several people who've done Landmark (or the Forum or EST). It's amazing that I've never actually attended a workshop, although I did once attend an introductory type of meeting for EST back in the late '70s/early '80s. My best friend in high school's dad got involved in EST and Silva Mind Control. Somehow all of her friends (myself i

Don't think this one's been kicked around on the rrforum. Years ago my Mom participated in Silva Mind Control. This would have been in the 1970's. All very New Agey. She dragged my Dad along, too. Didn't do a thing for Dad -- he doesn't need this kind of junk, but Mom thought he did, and she thought she needed it, too. Can't say it did anything for her, pro or con

Wow. Silva Mind Control. This takes me back... corboy -- Dunno if you have already satisfied your interest in Silva, but it is a basic course in self-hypnosis along with various applications like awakening without an alarm clock. You learn some simple techiques for relaxing into a mild trance ("going to level") and from there do ESP exercises like sensing the health of a stranger.

--or 'Silva?' There's something called 'Silva Mind Control' (its original name) and now called 'Silva Method.' It has been used in various training packages for the work place and some legal issues have surfaced. Silva appears to use methods of self induced trance induction, visualization and self hypnosis. But back to my question--could that 'S

I hear it involves trance induction, but I am unsure of the precise details. Am curious: 1) what was taught & were they honest with you about what it would involve? 2)how it affected you (for better, for worse, or both?) 3)would you do it again, knowing what you know now 4) if you stopped using Silva, why you chose to do so.

My guess is that that technique you mention where there's a commerical, and at the very end of it, something's included that seemingly 'makes no sense'-- is this a method of inducing a subtle shock or disorientation, designed to enhance susceptibility to the previous message? I have heard that one way to make people suggestible is to shock them, or stun them for an instant, th

Silva Mind Control does seem to be controversial. You might look over some of the following links to get a better take on what it is and how it might be prolematic--
