RRMOD You're quite within your rights to ban me if you wish. I'm not going to apologise for my comments because I never meant to offend anyone. But just at look at BBC's reaction. This is just what I would have expected! Let me see if I've got the facts straight about this woman (and I'm willing to bet my bottom, top and middle dollar that it is a woman). She left

RRMOD I'm not trying to be insulting. I am merely trying to question whether people really want to shut her down. Some people seem to be more interested in past events than in future possibilities. Further, on another of your threads (the one to do with Potters House) one guy has been reporting about people putting up posters outside churches and informing passers-by of how much the pa

ALL Going by some recent comments it looks like some of you are STILL at KCF, at least mentally. You can take the person out of KCF, but you can't take the KCF out of the person? The longer you pick at your wounds the longer they'll take to heal, and the more of a victory you'll give this C Doyle. Don't get mad (or even slightly miffed!) get her shut down. There is ALREA

POLAR BEAR I am sorry if you found some of my comments offensive, and my manner a little aggressive. But it seems to me that time is important in this situation. C Doyle seems to me to be making things up as she goes along: divination, "knitting", let's move there because that's where God's annointing is. What else is she going to come with? Especially if you force

YETTIGOOSEMONSTER Do you know any info about the messianic synagogue in Hove? I am trying to piece together what happened in the final months (I presume they are no longer going). If you know ANYTHING I would be very interested in knowing. In fact, the very first meeting I attended there was something dodgy, but in such a subtle way that I simply dismissed it. It was during a mid-week Bibl

YETIGOOSEMONSTER Do you know if it's been shut down? Last I know he (the so called Rabbi) was operating out of a building near the Exchange pub, which is about 5 minutes' walk from Hove station. This has been closed down. Was it closed permantely or has he simply found somethere else to "preach" from. I am not in contact with anyone who ever went anymore, so I have no w

ROSEBUD I haven't 'fought' against any cults; I don't want you to get the impression that I am some sort of cult-buster! The only two I've known (both quite small) disintigrated on their own when certain allegations came to light. My only success is not getting dragged in in the first place. Many churches in my area, while not exactly cults, use methods and have th

ROSEBUD I am sorry, I forget that cults sometimes involve children, too. I hope my comments haven't caused any offence. It's just my only experiences have been with adults - so I tend to think along those lines. My friend had left the cult for some time; it was a hippie-type cult which she had joined in the late 70s. After she left she was never really able to take responsibility

Why don't you all email the BBC's Heaven & Earth show and insist that they do an investigative feature on KCF? The complaints procedure is very easy to use on the BBC website. Further, I emailed KCF to get their side of the story; they haven't got back to me yet, but I'll let you know if they do.

BBC I have direct and in indirect experience wih at least two uhhealthy organisations. Several years ago some friends of mine began attending a Messianic shul. It was completely independent and based on the vision of one man. I was never a member but did attend on a few occasions with my friends. As time went on this individual became more erratic and authoritarian. In the end he was (like D

RRMOD I'm please to hear that Scientology's membership is declining. Let's hope it dwindles to nothing very soon. BBC As I said, I DO have some direct experience of cults, but the main reason I am on this site is to find out as much information as possible and help to do as much damage as possible to any group or individual that I feel is fraudulent and damaging.

RRMOD If the best solution according to you is public awareness then why do groups like Scientology still exist? And indeed, exist very successfully. You know what they preach is rubbish, I know what they preach is rubbish and I would hope that everyone reading this knows what they preach is rubbish. This doesn't stop them! And then there are groups like JWs whose theology is so bankru

RRMODERATOR I don't blame victims of cults; I believe they have SOME responsibility for their own well-being - there is a subtle difference! I should know. Some years ago I become friends with someone who had been in a cult in the 70s. She left but she never recovered. She ended up committing suicided. Kennelwood has shown that it is perfectely possible to get involved with such groups

RRMOD Further, if you had been doing your job properly you wouldn't have allowed LIVERPOOL WRITER to make that comment about why don't abusive wives leave their husbands. The dynaimcs are completely different! Are we we going to include EVERY social ill and problem is this discussion, or are we going to stick to the main problem?: How can this KCF be stopped from doing any more harm?

RRMODERATOR My point is that ALL churces (but especially independent and "charasmatic"-type churches) have the potential to go bad. People need to be educated to look for the warning signs. Many start out in benign fashion but at some point take a turn towards the sinister.

LIVERPOOL WRITER Yes, why don't wives leave their abusive husbands? I woudl always advise them to do so. And I have first hand experience of such a scenario! LIVERPOOL WRITER Have you ever played chess? Or indeed any other game? I'll assume the anwer is a postive one. Then you know you can only win by being better than your opponent at mastering the rules and skills. Luck, by itself rarely wins anything by itself. By all the reports I've read on this page, KCF seem be (at the very least) theologically unsound. I wish I could attend to see

LIVERPOOL WRITER, I am merely trying to offer an objective viewpoint. People who don't attend church often have little understanding of the problems faced by people caught up in such circumstances. A reporter for the Liverpool Echo (or any other media outlet) might well say, and with good reason: "If it's as bad as you say it is - why are people still going?" You need to f

I hate to put a wet blanket on all your aspirations to get rid of Cheryl Dolye, but can I offer some sober judgments. If there are any of you that are still attending KCF and posting negative comments on this site then you're not doing cause much good. Most people (including the Liverpool Echo) would ask the question: "If you disagree so much with the place and the people running it,

The Charities Commission would only be interested if you could prove (or have very good reason to suspect) that there are serious breaches of charities rules. Authoritarian behaviour by a leader, no matter offensive and hurtful, does not fit this category. Further, it sounds to me that any people at this place (KCF) that have detailed knowledge and access to sensitive financial information ar

I am not questioning what you say about John Galt. But 500 pounds to do a set of accounts isn't a lot of money. Accountants, like lawyers, are very expensive and charge by the hour. My guess is that he is probably on at least 150 pounds an hour. Even if he get an underling to most of the work for him - he's still not making a lot of money. Of course, if he's making money becau

My main concern is to make charities like KCF and many others more finanncially accountable. If the leadership feel they are above reproach then I can bet there are probably financial misdealings. Currently the Charities Commission is pretty toothless; bascially no one is interested is cases like your because there are no votes in it. Sad fact.

It's sad what's been happening at places like Kirby Christian Fellowship. But let's face it - there's nothing unique about it. What gets me (at least here in England) is why more people don't complain to their MPs to get the law changed. I'm no expert (though I want to learn) but it seems to me that at the moment it's easier to get a television advert banned

I once attended a Messianic Synagogue in Hove, England. I only began attending because some friends of mine used to go on Saturday mornings/afternoons. I was never a member. Orginally the synagogue was based in Portland Road, Hove in the south of England. Then they moved Sommerhill School and then to a church-like building about five minutes' walk from Hove station. Last time I passed th

Too many people seem to be giving cult status to any religious organisation that they don't agree with or with whom they've had less than happy dealings with. Recently I fell out with the (acting) pastor of my Baptst church because he wouldn't give me a reference. This doesn't make him a bad person or the organistation a cult. However, some years ago I also fell out wi

I am looking for groups in England that display cultish behaviour. If anyone knows of any organised groups which meet for religious or pseudo-spiritual reasons (and in my experience there are often several in all major cities) which they feel are not healthy, please let me know via this site.
