I am glad you checked in slandjt. I think the Holy Spirit is real but I don't think it was the dog and pony show of visions, voices from heaven, prophecies, trips to the future that we saw in the Walk. Cults and deceivers coopt the term Holy Spirit (HS) and exploit it and then they demand not to be criticized for its misuse. My experience has been similar to yours in seeking it for comfort but it does other things to help us and after my prodigal adventure I am only now learning more about the HS. Also, I think it is a mistake for churches to single out and label women in their congregation as a Jezebel. Jezebel was a pagan OT character who worshiped idols and false gods so of course she behaved badly, and there is nothing in the scriptures that refers to a "Jezebel spirit" that is put on women. We (men and women) all screw up. I am sorry that happened to you. Peace to you too.

O.K.--I take full responsibility for this loss. And I'll make it up to you guys. I have this investment opportunity in a silver mine that is a sure thing. Details to follow.

It's possible, out of spite, they may join the cult. I hope not. Talk about being counterproductive!
I agree--let's stay with the original purpose, which if I recall, was to examine whether gun control will have any measurable effect in reducing crime. I mean...
Wow--these tangents have really taken a toll on my focus. Sorry about that.

p.s. welcome, slandjt.

Psychotic break

There's an interesting post on another strand (listed below our strand) "My time in a new thought cult-reflections" by Julie S who recounts the psychotic break she experienced as a result of her participation in a cult.

I recall a young man in the Walk who was taking meds for mental health issues until he heard a message from JRS that debunked the fields of psychology and psychiatry. After the young man stopped taking his meds he became obsessed with a young woman in the church and the situation became very awkward for the young woman. The pastor at the time, Glen Oswald, intervened and the young man went back on his meds. While JRS never told folks to go off their meds, I think the young man was deeply influenced by what JRS said about psychology and psychiatry. Suicide, depression, psychotic breaks can be one of the destructive effects of cults. Anyway, I thought some of Julie's insights were worth reading.

Shazaam. Haven't checked in for over a week. I caught up on the reading of posts. I think it is good that once in a while it gets a little heated--at the end of the day--we all we carry on holding a candle, saying a prayer, being there for those who escape and hoping for the freedom of those who still suffer under the LW tyranny. It is sad that so many pass away not knowing they were living a delusion not their own. Sad---very sad.

Damn the liars and cheaters and thieves who continue to perpetuate this insanity.
