"Happy and I'm smiling
Walk a mile to drink your water
You know I'd love to love you
And above you there's no other
We'll go walking out
While others shout of war's disaster
Oh, we won't give in
Let's go living in the past
Once I used to join in
Every boy and girl was my friend
Now there's revolution, but they don't know
What they're fighting
Let us close our eyes
Outside their lives go on much faster
Oh, we won't give in
We'll keep living in the past
Oh, we won't give in
Let's go living in the past
Oh no, no we won't give in
Let's go living in the past..."

Once, in the spring or summer of 1994, I was in a class that Tamal Krishna Maharaja was giving. He told a story that I thought was quite nice, and which I remembered. It was about a little boy who saved his allowance money all year long to buy his father a tie for Christmas, who in his naive little-boy mind did not think to himself that his father has a closet full of ties, and that the allowance money his father had been giving him all year long was simply returning to the father, in a different form. Years later I was reading "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis, and came across the "sixpence to the good on the transaction" passage in that book. Then I thought to myself "Say, I've heard this story before." In other words, TKG told the exact same story that C.S. Lewis told in "Mere Christianity," but he "Hare Krishna-ized" it. I don't recall if TKG mentioned the name of C.S. Lewis or not, in that class I was attending in the summer of 1994. But I remembered the story, and recognized it when I was reading C.S. Lewis years later. I wish I could find a recording or a transcript of that class, too. I am not saying that TKG presented C.S. Lewis' ideas as his own, but I am saying that I remember him using a story from "Mere Christianity" and I do not remember him mentioning C.S. Lewis. Maybe he did, though.

Speaking of citations... :-)

Hey XKRISHNA,

I did a very quick scroll of this thread regarding CB's inimitable way of treating his disciples.

Check out page 64 and scroll a few posts down to a post by I think it's "quotesman" and there are some examples. These continue in the ensuing posts.

Actually the whole thread is chock full of his terrible treatment of devotees.

I myself heard him say on a lecture tape: My disciples are all assholes." This was not uncommon. It was his demeanor.

Namaste

Good Lord. And let's not forget Chris Butler's rantings about AIDS and "faggots," either.

“I am more humble than anyone, even my own guru.”

Yeah, I'm sure Chris Butler is very proud of how humble he is. Much like Dave McKay.

Yeah I'm not sure if every one of those quotes is exact, paraphrased, or simply symbolic of his attitude in many private interactions with people on-site, in letters, audio/video etc. But it sums up what we all constantly felt in his presence.

There's discipline and chastisement and strong instructions, then there is being an asshole and tyrant.

People stay with this man not out of a deep love for guru, but out of fear.

There are babajis who live humbly in a hut, rejecting a need to make followers and support themselves on the backs of others for telling them they are a spirit soul, not a body. It perverts and distorts when it grows beyond that.

Preaching, proselytizing, and orders like sanyasa are largely an invention of contemporary hare krishnas.

Sanyas was a Shankara order that begged door to door. They lived together and meditated for long hours, ate nothing, and put up no flyers.

They firmly believed in karma. And if someone's karma was to run into them and heed thier words, that was the extent of any outreach efforts.

Sanyasis also debated. Frequently. Modern sanyasis live in thier FB friends group and parrot thier gurus words for likes.

They eat good, live well, and never fret about thier survival. They are soft garbage men.

Bhaktisiddhanta was willing to serve meat at his temples to attract people. Them some car salesman tactics if I ever heard any. I don't have anything personally against meat eating, but considering the cult rather build goshalas and spend money on housing and feeding cattle as more important than a homeless shelter, I gather eating meat rubs them the wrong way.

Once bhaktivednata made his books, set up temples and ashram communities, preaching was less important. Hitting the airport up for donations to support the whole contraption was top tier "service".

Seva is a funny thing. It can almost be whatever you want as long as it's important to the guru and by proxies krishna.

After 40 to 50 years it amounts to a virtue signaling Christian style faith. Shoot, you'd be hard pressed finding even old prabhupada disciples who don't smoke ganja. Yoy know, cuz Shiva did it and he the best devotee.

Of course, only the small hate krishna faith has reduced every other faiths God to lesser than thier own blue playboy. Sound familiar?

RUN.
