ASININE JC-RELATED QUOTES OF THE DAY
These guys are a group of regular C.S. Lewises. Theological geniuses. They are are having a discussion over there called, "Does Evil Exist?"
Seriously though, DM does not know the Bible nearly as well as he thinks he does, and is not qualified to lead a blind man to the toilet, much less lead a spiritual movement. He never asks, what did Jesus say on the topic? He only says "I think this, I think that." DM (or anybody else for that matter) never quotes from the Bible ever in the course of the discussion, let alone asks what Jesus said on the matter. David only proffers a lot , "Well, in my opinion..." A very revealing quote from Professor McKay (italics added for emphasis by myself):

As you probably know, I have used the same terminology that you have used, i.e. that God "created" evil, in order to give us something else to choose, but understanding that the WAY he created it is simply by giving us free choice shows us that evil is just something that comes from our abuse of free choice.
As for this idea about evil not existing, I have found it to be quite practical, especially when I was preaching in Kenya about superstition. The local pastors had encountered a LOT of superstition, which is, essentially, fear of the devil. And so the theme of my preaching was along the lines of recognising that the devil/evil is just the absence of God. When you turn the light on, you realise what a silly thing it is to be afraid of the devil... just like when a parent turns the light on in the bedroom of a child who has just had a nightmare. It doesn't take away ALL of the fear, but it is a very important step in overcoming fear... just to see how much of it is just in our imagination.
So David is telling us that there is no such thing as evil. Therefore, David can do no wrong. I am not going to bother to explain to him how he has abused his power of free choice to wreak havoc in other people's lives, it's so glaringly obvious that even Stevie Wonder could see it. But not David!
Hmmm...I wonder, what did JESUS say on the matter, Apostle? This quote makes it abundantly clear to me that you believe that
whatever David McKay thinks is superior to
what Jesus says. "I have found it to be quite practical." Of course you have. It's a convenient excuse to do whatever you want. Good Lord.
Golly Gee, look over at blueletterbible.org and run a search for the word "evil" occurring in KJV. Looks like Jesus said a lot about evil. Jesus knew that evil is real. Here is a sampling of what Jesus said on whether evil exists:
Mat 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.
Mat 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Mat 6:23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great [is] that darkness!
Mat 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day [is] the evil thereof.
Mat 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
Mat 7:17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
Mat 7:18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither [can] a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
See how much the Bible talks about whether evil exists, Jesus Christians. Did it ever occur to any of you to look in there? I overestimated you, David, gave you too much credit. You are even less intelligent than I thought.
Let's try not to think about it and chant The Casey Mantra instead:
"Lahaahlah...look at all the pretty colors...lalalala...David good, critics bad, David good, critics bad, David good, critics bad...me like David...David so smart...me want to BE David...David good, critics bad, David good, critics bad, David good, critics bad..."
Isa 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these [things].Edited 11 time(s). Last edit at 02/10/2008 06:32AM by zeuszor.
