And another thing.... just kidding. But, yes, here is another thing. People talk a lot about the "tax exempt purpose" and "nonprofit purpose" and now there is discussion after Ron Caquelin mentioned purpose in the newspaper article - and this is my take. Remember I'm not a lawyer so this is just my humble and pissed off opinion. The language regarding purpose as

Sorry for the odd editing and dangling line at the end of my post about misuse of restricted funds. I have a really pretty new computer but the same ol' brain is operating it. Money from Bob's memorial went to the APCO travel? Why? That's such a load of crap that Bob would have wanted that. When Bob was treated like the offscouring of the earth for so many years as MAGNIFIED

I am thrilled that someone from Shiloh made reference to restricted funds as in those funds received for a specific purpose and the purpose was then dropped. "Sometimes there may be circumstances that make it impossible or impracticable for restricted funds to be used for the restricted purpose for which they were given. If the temple knows who gave the funds, it can ask the donors for p

Changedagain - Thank you. Loved laughing so hard I spit out my $200 wine. There is an app for computers/cells called "Detrumpify." Every time you read a newsfeed online, it automatically changes the name "Donald Trump" to something nonsensical and hilarious. I highly recommend it! Here is a sample: “'Nielsen's ouster fits with a pattern of Rage-Addled Oompa

Richard M. - The Brighton house was rented to 2 girls/women who eventually moved into the Blix house and the Brighton house was sold. Do you remember the street number? I am still friends with one of the gals who lived there and then moved to Blix. She got out of the church decades ago. Smart gal.

Lots of lovely action happening on the legal front in California. Assembly Bill 218 would expand both the statute of limitations for victims of childhood sexual assault, from age 26 to age 40, and the period for delayed reasonable discovery, from three to five years. After enactment, the measure would also allow for a window of three years for the revival of past claims that might have expired

It would be interesting if Shiloh could become something beneficial to the area what with trails and lakes and such. It would be interesting to see if people can turn the amphitheater into something that can be used by anyone but Rick. Do you think he will call Kalona city folk on the phone when they open the storage rooms and yell at them for touching "his stuff" as he has in the

Me too Changedagain. Hey everyone out there - Does anyone know what is being planned for Shiloh U? I don't think the U can survive without offerings from the churches. I hope no other locations take on that burden. Another brilliant business idea with no plan.

Just because a nonprofit gives away property it built in violation of IRS rules for nonprofits, doesn't mean they are off the hook for their history of violations. If money is involved, there will be a paper trail. If tax exempt money was used to benefit an individual, especially an insider (someone involved in the oversight of a nonprofit or is a family member of a leader) there will be t

KByrne - I so appreciate your measured and wise description of what we go thru in the imprisonment of our minds by the cult. The comparison you made to the abused children you've met in your work with CASA is exactly what we all need to remember. I am familiar with CASA's work from my many years working in family law in Los Angeles. You are really the heroes of the family law court s

kbyrne my friend - I was thinking about that "protection" and all the unapproachable stuff that ALWAYS blew back on the people with the horrible and abusive message that we were "not enough" or worse. I spoke with a friend of mine today who, like many of us, is a veteran of many years of being used as a tool, a pawn, a servant, etc., in the walk/cult for decades. When some

F.M.T. I remember clearly the conversation when I sighed about the many promises JRS made to me personally that died with him. My sister said, "Oh honey, he was just blowing smoke up your skirt to keep you working for him." My sister also told me she wanted to tell me for a long time that Marilyn was not to be trusted but she knew if she told me that, she would lose me forever beca

Fool me twice - I would love to hear any and every story where JRS' mask slipped and his true motivation was exposed. Dick Holbrook helped a lot with that and there must be many more stories that "coulda-shoulda" been red flags but we were intentionally blinded. By deception and now we know, by paint chips. Does the exposure of their horrible motivations ever reach the end? N

JRS was such a high-level conman. He always presented himself as living a sacrificial life. I believed he lived as we all did in order to bring in the kingdom. If we had all still maintained our ability to exercise critical thinking, I wonder if we would have asked how exactly our sacrifice would bring in the kingdom. Thank God blind allegiance/submission is a thing of the past. And really, t

If fine wine opens a channel of communication to God, and if cheap wine bolsters the carnal nature, then clearly the people buying the $200 bottles of wine were ordering expensive wine with a cheap wine back. Carnal exuded from their pores in their relationships, molestations, misuse of church money and the list of carnal goes on. Using slave labor? I made $70 per month when I first left my

I just learned that employees of the TLWF churches as far back as 2011, were paid $60k per year and carried "company credit cards." If anyone who worked in the accounting or money management areas had the gall/balls to tell someone that a charge for a $200 bottle of wine was likely a luxury item and not a business expense, was quickly shown the door. When both spouses worked for say,

One thing about all of us ex-walk/cult robots/slaves, we're rambunctious at times and eloquent at times. They say the worse fate for a cowboy on the frontier was to be turned over to the squaws when captured by "hostiles." That's because women are fierce and we are very serious about our wars and our enemies. So Boys - K & Pretty, no offense in objecting to being ca

I have heard a lot of victims and supporters of those victims mention that the legal approach for all of the harm is over or down the drain, etc. It is not. One approach was taken and hit a snag and folded. That's one approach and it was thru civil court. There are many more approaches and some may include something civil but may also be primarily criminal under State or IRS laws
