That is a sweet property, half an acre on a cul de sac ending at the water. Zillow has it estimated at $3.59M. It's all public info and was easy enough to find online, but I have no problem sharing the address if anyone wants to view it.

One topic I haven't read about in this forum is the treatment of gays in the walk. I had a friend that was kicked out and shunned when it was discovered that he was gay, over 30 years ago. Does anyone know if the walk became more tolerant? Are gay couples completely accepted now as they obviously should be? Do you suppose Gary and Marilyn would celebrate a same-sex marriage ceremony?

Forbes has Ted Turner listed at $2.2 billion, self made. Perhaps his opinion of Christianity held him back from his true potential.

Ditch--may I call you Ditch?--that is good logic, but I notice the free flow of information isn't resulting in fewer cults or less bizarre beliefs out there. People will believe anything. The pope is infallible--why not Marilyn? And believing that one or two persons are the ticket into the kingdom isn't really all that far fetched. After all, it has been 2000 years, and Jesus hasn&#

Here is another thought. Has anyone else considered that the walk may not die out, but may pick up steam and regenerate? Stranger things have happened. Look at Mormonism. What were the odds that it would go anywhere with that crazy story of its inception? Yet it is a force to be reckoned with in the religious world (despite intense hilarious ridicule by South Park). The walk has been around

So no early resurrection for Super Apostle! Nicely put, FCSLC! An ex-walker I met randomly a couple of weeks ago was so in love with Stevens I had to wonder why he left the walk. He rather irritatedly said that Stevens never made much money as though that is a rumor spread by the disgruntled. How do we know what Stevens was worth, by the way? Has anyone ever gotten their hands on his tax ret

Ditch Digging Yasper! Glad you shared that with me. I got myself into a university after the walk, learned I have a brain, and have a richer view of the world for it. That "everything I need to know is right here in my Bible" attitude is so limiting, and as I recall, quite the investment of one's time and mental resources. It is a big interesting world out there and we only go

I don't mind at all. I am no longer religious. But it has nothing to do with the enemies of God, or a bitter walk experience. I view it more as the process of growing up and putting aside childish things. I learned to trust my intellect and I stand by it. I am an adult. I don't ask for permission or confirmation for anything I do. I reason things out for myself and make decisions

Larry Bobo, I'm going to go ahead and disagree with your statement that those who want nothing to do with God or other Christians is evidence of the enemy at work. I don't think I've even heard anything like that since I was in the cult. So I'm not sure what anyone thinks the devil is up to these days since we are no longer trying to wrestle the kingdom of God into existence

FCSLC and Pale Face, I agree, it is embarrassing. What a schmuck I was. I didn't even really know what we believed through all that shouting, but I believed with all my heart. I came in as a teenager and people hugged me, so I figured it was a great place. At least I can point to a time of my life when I was an unqualified idealist. And I left before I became an old schmuck, well before

Lily Rose, I have seen the Woodrow Nichols expose' referenced here before, but with your comment yesterday I located and read it today. Thank you. Way more detailed and in depth than I imagined, very well written. He did a great job. Also now I know much better what I used to believe than when I actually believed it. The description of the mine debacle filled in a lot of details I alway

Still the newbie and trying to catch up with the thoughts and attitudes of the group here. I'm getting that no one out and out denounces Stevens, although I am not following the logic that if what he started was a cult from the get-go, that he was simultaneously speaking the word of god with all sincerity. I am also curious as to how common it is for ex-cult members to hope to meet up with

Hm, if I saw Stevens again I would expect an itemized confession of wrongdoing. Then perhaps I would shun him. Yes, that seems more fair.

Thanks for the welcomes! Anyone who self promotes herself as the Lamp of Israel is asking for derision, hence my username. I left the Walk in 1977 before the really bizarre things with Stevens, Gary and Marilyn started occurring. But I'm still learning--did not know about the nephilim debacle. Good grief. So thanks for your answers about when it became a cult. I know we have all th

I found this website a couple of weeks ago. I have read all the posts and notice that everyone seems to think they came into the walk when it was pure and holy, and left after it went downhill. So I am really interested in knowing everyone's opinion of precisely when it became a cult. I will start. Day 1.
