puddington and Invisible the caged bird is a great metaphor for life in the LW. I thought about how the LW clipped our wings through control over our lives and coercive persuasion. There's a beautiful poem if anyone cares to google it by Maya Angelou called, "I know why the caged bird sings." Godspeed Reepicheep. Your concern for the caged birds in TLWF was evident in your contr

12. Are you told that you are specially chosen as > “saviors” of the world, as long as you remain in > the group? I think it can be so difficult to unlearn the false destructive teaching of the LW regarding discipleship and being special. Nickle, Reep and changed-the events at Grace Chapel Honolulu were happening all over the Walk. It was 1979 and the kingdom didn't come. Woodrow Nichols said JRS was restructuring the Walk and removing leaders he didn't trust. He mentions in his book some 34 changes. JRS also removed Bickhart and RD. It also seems that by 1979 or maybe earlier JRS had received his cancer diagnosis. The

I used to feel the most extraordinary anointing when I prophesied in an Italian accent. "The Lord has prepared for you a table of resurrection life, sonship, and spaghetti." Sorry about that.

I never attended any backroom meetings. But I did continually hear about people receiving words from the Lord and hearing from God speaking directly to their personal situation in personal ministry from the leadership or through prophecy. Most in the forum now recognize those words were just opinions, non authoritative and fallible words. The leadership followed ideas that entered their minds whi

Thank you Corboy for pointing out the numerous posts on this message board containing the problems and concerns relative to the ministries of JRS, G&M, and others. Some have written that JRS and G&M were/are charlatans, deceptive, liars, or having untreated mental health issues. Others, though far less in numbers, who adhere to the LW combo of Scripture and extra Biblical revelation, writ

TheycallmeJonah sometimes I get a little nervous when I learn that someone just left the LW. For me, ten years of false visions, false revelations, false words of knowledge, false wisdom and spiritual manipulation (which the leadership said was the Holy Spirit) almost did me in. But you seem to have the resilience of youth. I am happy for you and your newly found freedom. Keep posting. You might

There's so much "new thing" in the LW. I remember the 1970's were banner years for new things. We eagerly awaited each new JRS tape and the next new thing God was doing. Funny that all the new things JRS said he (the anointed one) received from God were the teaching of the entire Latter Rain movement. And then there were the Latter Rain tape reels found in JRS's home. Aw

Hi Invisible, When I joined I didn't do an exhaustive analysis of world religions and decided the LW presented the best theology available. I had no biblical discernment skills and did not realize then that many of JRS's teachings go against the Bible. But I probably hoped the LW would fulfill very real perceived needs. After I left I tried to forget about the whole time I was there.
