With ALL due respect to the enthusiasm of Prettyboy, every time I read "merries" I also rankle. We are not Robin Hood's merry men, and the title makes light of the very diverse members of this forum by suggesting that we have one group temperament and hence we shall be named and known by it. Just sayin'.

NancyB: "Oh, yes, I want to see the criminals go to prison to be some bad mad's girl-friend and get what they deserve..." I very often read things on this Forum that I disagree with wholeheartedly, but I learned long ago to keep my opinions to myself. This particular post is too heinous to ignore. It's not cute, it's not funny. It may even be part of a mindless rant

kBOY, I had a revelation of John and left the walk well before the 1980s, so many of these crazy terms are new to me. Here is an oldie but goodie: Warfare: "I think I'm getting a cold."

The Unwrapping! That was the other one. Thanks, Lone.Wolf and Reepicheep. But I still don't get it. Was something unfolded and something unwrapped? It is mentioned so often, it must have some significance, like the kingdom showed up, or Marilyn became twice as perfect, or a timeline was offered up, or god decided to go in a different direction, or the sheep are about to be punished, or

Can anyone explain what the "unfolding" was? I have seen the term quite often, and it is often paired with another term which together seem to be walk lingo for some miraculous "spiritual" events. The significance of these events appears to be so ingrained in the culture of the group that it is assumed everyone agrees, accepts and understands it. Even though I have read the

KBoy, I read the last few lines of your last post with interest. By the way, I haven't weighed in on my prediction of the direction that the walk will be taking. But if in your opinion we have a choice to be game changers or spectators to some event, which precisely do you believe we can or should be doing? As you personally move the ball down the field, what steps are you taking and w

KBoy, You're sorry you're not bilingual?? Wizards and harlots with a foul odor?? Stranger and stranger. I simply mean that parroting analogies can make it difficult for the reader to interpret the meaning of what is being said. Also it is reminiscent of being in a cult, where only those in the same cult understood what those phrases even meant. But I don't intend to rehash it f

RRModerator, you are way out of line. You do not have the right to tell someone to drill down and do some serious reading. No one seems to want to read your damn literature, no one is obligated to read your damn literature, I will never read your damn literature, and I do not care what your damn literature says. Stop attacking KBoy. No one is on your side in whatever your personal vendetta ag

To Tell The Truth--I haven't posted here in a long time and recently started catching up. I am earnestly opposed to the walk, all of its leadership, everything it stands for, and everything that resembles a cult. My past posts were often met with intense preaching by Larry Bobo, whose message was that I should come back to Jesus since any non-religious person must be deceived by Satan. Th

Southgate, not everyone here feels that an opinion they do not agree with must be squelched. Your viewpoint is every bit as important and valued as mine is. Lots of ex-walkers struggle with where to place the affection and regard they had for Stevens, and have difficulty reconciling those emotions with the reasons they left the walk. It is part of each individual's process, and a good reas

This discussion has been interesting. We have all certainly grown in a plethora of different directions since leaving the walk. It is wonderful that there are so many attitudes and viewpoints represented here, which may be honestly expressed, and are equally valid. And after our collective and individual experiences in a cult, it is great that there is no pressure on those who have broadened t

Howmidoing, I enjoy your enthusiasm and quest to galvanize the troops for change. I imagine we have all dreamed about bringing down that organization once and for all. Go for it. Have you thought further than the theoretical? Optimally, to whom do you see a letter or letters going, and what reaction are you hoping for? Would we all send approximately the same letter? Considering those here who co

Catholicism--One man at the head of that religious conglomerate does not begin to erase centuries of domination, harm and abuse, nor legitimize a belief structure no less insane than the cult we all came out of. Francis is about as infallible and holy as Stevens was. No pope or cardinal ever came to power because of his spirit of austerity, sobriety and poverty. Take a look at the Vatican. Simple

Stevens' death was caused by cancer, not "the sin nature." Cancer is in no way some divine punishment, nor an indication of innate evil. It is superstitious nonsense to suggest otherwise. This is 2017, not the middle ages, and anyone can and should break open a biology book and be educated as to the physiological reasons for illness.

SouthGate, I feel you are entitled to your opinion, even if your opinion extends to a certain tenderness towards Stevens that others do not subscribe to. Many of us turn up here because we have negative views about him and the Walk, but I have observed great variation here as to whether he was a man of God, how bad he became, and where and when he went wrong. No two posters seem to agree, so yo

I am glad to hear from Tmason, who was at the mine as a child. The information I had about the mine in the 70s, when that debacle was going down, was limited for a couple of reasons. First, all things pertaining to monetary investments were irrelevant grown-up problems, and I was temporarily trapped in a teenage brain that simply did not care. Second, it seems that the leadership really did lim

The Sarge--And I thought I was the only one, along with pbxguy, possibly. Everything in your post is so patently obvious I cannot understand why so few of us figured it out. Eventually we questioned the walk and found it lacking, and that is great. Now we wonder why it took so long to employ the logic required to dismiss those contradictory and irrational beliefs. Oh, the kingdom, the kingdom!

And there it is. "God often turns people over to a depraved mind, and they become homosexual." I appreciate the honesty, frankly, to just come out and say what Christianity believes, but which most Christians are too politically correct to say out loud. All homosexuals are depraved. Depraved. Because of some Bible verse. But I like this new twist, that God did it to them to begin w

I am grateful for the gay movement and support it. I have never been anti-gay, but did not recognize that I had some remaining biases, which if gays had remained silent as a group, I would not have uncovered and tossed out of my thinking. I appreciate that they have helped me be a better, more compassionate person in that regard. Years ago it annoyed me that they were so visible and loud, but

The Jewel, of course I agree 200%. Everybody used to pray the same "language" every time they worshipped in tongues. At the time I was familiar with the style of tongues of people I knew. If called upon, which I never have been, I could still do a pretty good parody of them. I never observed tongues in any practical useful function, like communicating with someone who did not speak Eng
