QuoteVic-LucAnyone take these quack cult Landmark Education / Forum classes with Gaibrielle Stockdale leading? I'm curious. She is an Advanced Course Manager, and a Self-Expression & Leadership Program Manager. Possibly in San Francisco, London, and Sydney

QuotenettieI think the communication course leaders are unpaid assistants. Right? I know that the SELP leaders were unpaid and also the seminar leaders. They were really used by landmark. All under the pretense thet it was good for their progress. Am I right in this assumption that they are unpaid assistants Sonnie_dee? Gaibrielle Stockdale is a paid staff member, 41K a year.

Again, what people don't get is that Australia has scant therapists, counselors, and psychologists. The "governing board for psychology" if you can even call it that, because it's a pretty buck-ass system that looks like it was cobbled together for PR...doesn't do much. I could show up in OZ, put up a shingle, conduct therapy, and no one would bother me. SO...

QuoteskepticI just connected two more dots I hadn't connected these past several years. It always seems so *nice* that part of an lgat program is to send out "participants" to reconcile with estranged family/friends. While reading this piece I now understand WHY: to recruit more people. Of course. I mean, when you've reconnected with and regrained trust of people from whom

CONGRATULATIONS BROTHA! QuoteZorroI'm happy to report that I landed a new and totally bad ass job today!!!!! I really pulled myself together these last few weeks and have made a serious and positive impact on my future. In the past few weeks I've literally had "Headhunters" calling me with job opportunities. It's been unreal how busy I've been with taking car

QuotevlindenAh, the late night spirit of cruel self-analysis has descended upon me again . . . must be due to Nutrino's Freud-laden post earlier demanding we all take a big uncomfortable look inside our dank inner caves . . . I guess when I posted this thread I was thinking the same thing I'm still thinking, and I know my lesson lies here. In a way, my unwillingness to see parts

QuotevlindenYour story about the man who committed suicide is what makes me shake myself out of my own head and really feel concern for my ex. But I know he just can't/won't hear me, so what can I do? I know he's fragile and I just hope to God he holds up through all of this. It's part of why I'm still talking to him at all. He was an adult, but he was just a confused k

QuotevlindenHi Nettie, I know, I'm sure you're right. It was actually a very big deal for me to hear him say these things to me yesterday. After he got out of the Forum a few weeks ago, he displayed all the same signs that so many people have posted about here on this board. He was totally self centered, he seemed disconnected from me in a new way I'd never seen. And of course h

Quotevlinden However, I am very tired and stressed out from everything I've been through, and as a therapist I think you could have a bit more understanding as to how your original comment to me would put me totally on the defensive. Vlinden, yeah you have been through a lot. You're forgetting...so have I. LE took someone really important away from me, a week after she finaliz

QuotevlindenOkay, Vic, let's call a truce. I'll believe you're a therapist, and you believe I'm not a troll, and we'll move on. I just think you shouldn't call people names and scream at them in forums because they interpret something you said as an attack. Instead maybe consider why they would interpret it that way. Okay? Have a good night. Fine, just ask fo

QuotevlindenVic Luc: I asked a question and she went on a tirade. No, you didn't ask a question. You made an inference that could have many negative assumptions attached to it, considering what this board is about, and how many trolls are indeed here. Then you went on to infer that people were PMing you about me, asking if you smell "a rat." I smell a rat, and it ain'

Side note: I'd be fascinated if anyone took up the torch to see if there were noted personality changes in people after taking LE courses...pre-tes/post-test. It was done before, I think with est, before the myriad of LE legalese. Everyone in HS takes a form on the Myers-Briggs, which would mean the pre-test is already there, somewhere.

QuotevlindenAnd another thing, Senor Luc, Let me be right up front and tell you that I don't appreciate your attack nor do I particularly need it in my life at the moment. Nor did I ask for your twisted psychological diagnosis (in fact, it reminds me Landmark's or Byron Katie's reversal of reality -- are you a disciple of hers??), so save that for your patients who pay you. QuotevlindenMust confess I do worry for the next generation. Many kids are so over supervised while growing up that they are robbed of opportunities for real adventures--fewer kids get safe, unsupervised play in vacant lots. So when they grow up, they will need adventures and be quite vulnerable to being sold fake ones. That is true, corboy. I know that some wilderness programs for tee

Quotevlinden All of this has made me want to examine the different schools of analysis and therapy. Clearly any dissecting of the human psyche can be helpful or harmful -- maybe sometimes both at the same time. It seems that people with relatively minor issues of dysfunction or unhappiness could be helped by a trained therapist who can guide them through unraveling their thought processes in

QuotevlindenAlso, Vic-Luc, are you a therapist of some kind? What are your thoughts on Transactional Analysis? Yes. Transactional Analysis? In a purist sense, Berne was asinine. "Curing" clients? Some general concepts are universal. Myself? Adherent to Client-Centered Therapy, mostly. Hard to fuck up that skill set. I use it in conjunction with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy wh
