This thread began with a posting by seabass on 5/4/06, and since that time there have been in excess of 45,000 views. That works out to be in the nearly 38 months since that first posting, about 1200 views per month. Even in a recent week of views that I looked at there were views of this thread at the rate of about 1000 per month. Folks have an interest in this thread to a degree unequalled

Here is a link to "The Wave." Quest graduates will appreciate this short movie about cult formation and find familiarity there. It was produced in 1981. Could this have been part of the inspiration for the 1984 formation of Impact Trainings? Pay particular attention to posture (open body position), seating, actions of the teacher, procedures for sharing, exploitation of sense of gro

Well, almost enough said on that. I just want to add the Christian perspective by quoting Romans 3:8 in part; "...Let us do evil, that good may come?..." To get the LDS spin on that, you need to look at the JST (Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible) and read the next sentence, "But this is false." This perhaps explains why I was so offended by the "twisted" doctr

DisiectiPoetae, Here's explaining a little more about glorifying Satan in response to your perfect question. In Lift Off, Sally Berger tells a little parable from, "The Little Soul and the Sun." The fly leaf of this book says, " The little Soul and the Sun is a simple and powerful story that brings children a very profound truth; there is no absolute good or bad---that un

DisiectiPoetae, I do have a few questions. What is your take on the following notion? Impact "twists" trainee's religions as a tool to control their minds. This twisting is evident for your religion and mine. It is not important what the religion is, but that they use the religion of trainees, including atheists, to get to their bottom line, which is always enrollment/money.

On May 31, 2009, DisiectiPoetae made an initial post that is profound and deserves comment. This contributor is a Pagan and offers a perspective that is most enlightening. From a little Internet research, it seems that about 45% of all humanity are Pagans, so it's important to know what they think about Impact Trainings. I hope more detail will eventually be posted, but I understand the d

GratefulRage, I am grateful for your enlightening comments. There is so much to ponder on the subject, it will take a while to factor in what you suggest. I may PM you with some specifics, since you seem to understand the issues here very well. Thanks again.

Spiritual? Thanks for the comment on your dealing with PTSD and anxiety. I had to look up PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). That is now another rival explanation of behavior in LMT folks that I know. I thought that Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Bipolar were what I was seeing. PTSD seems to fit better than the others. I am beginning to see better now the whole range of me

I have begun to realize that there is a good, though very discordant, fit between Impact Trainings and many of the writings of C. S. Lewis. I'm thinking mainly, but not exclusively, of "The Screwtape Letters," which has become classic literature. Anyone familiar with Impact, or any LGAT for that matter, will enjoy surfing the mutiple sites on the Web loaded with C. S. Lewis writ

Reviewing some of the Impact testimonials on youtube, I can't resist commenting on the above clip example of bland B.S. that these two folks are trying to convey. Their experience is so different from my own experience, and that of severall others I know about that I have to question their understanding about the sugar coated panacea cure all that they are trying to attribute to Impact

The first youtube.com video above listed by Glaucon begs for some anal-ization, a though stopping word Impact uses in their process to disparage the word "think." This young man is so confused that our hearts should go out to him. He says that he has created an awesome person through being in Impact Trainings. It is true that he has been subjected to the sounds of the training room,

I have been looking through my notes and homework from the Impact core trainings. There is not much to be alarmed about there. It is interesting how different my memories of the oral training stuff differ from the written stuff. It's like living in two different worlds. The written stuff is the usual benign human relations touchy feely stuff. The memories of the oral training room stuf

The distinction between eximpact and exImpact is understood and is still preserved. There is much to be said for anonymity, a most useful weapon against the secrecy and deception of Impact Trainings. bubbleboy, You can do your roommate a big favor by disccouraging continued career pursuits with Impact. Impact has already tried the expansion of their trainings to areas out of the Salt Lake Valley, and it did not work. The reason it did not work is that this species of LGAT needs a critical mass of Mormons to operate on and there is nowhere else in the world quite like the Wasatch Front en

Glaucon, You are right. My purpose in quoting Ballard was to show what he said about right and wrong being in contrast to Impact doctrine and to show what the authoritative position of the LDS Church was. When an apostle speaks in conference, that is scripture, official doctrine of the Church. To point that out is describing what is happening, not prescribing what I think or believe should

I have some thoughts that I could PM to exImpact and Glaucon, but I hope that they have wider impact. Their comments are the kind that have propelled this thread to 1490 posts and 41,355 views. They have important relavence to Impact Trainings and why folks get so conflicted over them. The terms "key enrollment demographic" and "impotent cautionary fliers to protect congregation

Below is an interesting link to an edited excerpt from Chapter 22 of Robert Jay Lifton's book, "Thought Reform and the Pschology of Totalism." Eight topics are listed. I will comment on just one, "Loading the Language." This chapter is a must read for anyone trying to understand the Impact process. In the introduction to the chapter, the author says this: T

Talk to your friends and family who have gone through this program. After talking to them, make your own decision...." This "Glaucon thinking" is exactly the kind of bogus, illogical thinki

Brainwashednomore, Sounds like you have valuable, current information to share on Impact Trainings. Here is something to think about with the perspective you now have in your post-Impact, state of mental recovery. Impact would never use the following quote from Ben Franklin because it goes against their core training doctrine. It concerns right and wrong and thinking. Impact is fond of quo

Continuing in response to whatthe: LMT stands for Life Mastery Trainings. This is a name change from Traininer In Training (TIT), as it was formerly known. The continued reference to TIT created some discomfort for the Bergers for obvious reasons. Hans in late night core training sessions credited Sally with the creation of TIT and for what ever success it has had. Hans said he was against

I don't know much about The Great Life Trainngs, but from a quick google and information that pops up on the Web, it appears to be a clone of Impact. It has the same appeal to LDS folks as something that will enhance their religion. It appears to be riddled with the same subtle, apostate type of stuff that was denounced by LDS Church letters from the First Presidency. It is clearly Large

Enrollment in Quest has declined further to the point that there is no advertized waiting list to get into the 11 Feb. 2009 class. Is it the economy, or is there a possibility that potential trainees are doing their homework and checking out the the ample information out there on the undesireable side effects and mental health safety risks posed by Impact Trainings and all LGATs? I recommend th

corboy, You have hit the nail on the head for me. Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is something I had never heard of, but it fits the issue I am dealing with in someone. Fear of abandonment and a disorderd parent child relationship are clear factors here. The fit is much clearer to BPD than bi-polar in that the mental and emotional instability/mood swings are shorter term, 24-72 hours.

I know that several folks contributing to this board have formal training in sciences and disciplines that deal with the human mind. I envy their knowledge. I do know from personal observation that Impact traini

Impact continues to seek celebrity aura as with the stories of John Denver's planning on taking Impact Trainings. All grads day 2009 included intertainment by a Celine Dion impersonator. A visit to impacttrainings.com will show that for the first time in a long time there is no waiting list for Quest. December Quest is now history and January Quest is advertized as "Open." Measurable progress is at hand I think! Who should get the credit? Is it the economy, this forum, folks becoming more critical and coming to their senses? Are there other explanations?
