Its interesting how the "stories" from Landmark are very similar to other systems, like Byron Katie, and many others. Check out the Byron Katie threads. "Stories" are a way for them to get into your Belief System. Control the "story", control the person.

by the way, here is an outsiders viewpoint on just how "bad" Byron Katie is, in case that perspective might be useful. Obviously, she and her Katiephiliacs think she probably is the new Jesus Christ, or whoever. Clearly she is not, she is a very fallible human, just like anyone else, and of course, even much more fallible than the average Jane. That being said, BK is also very v

thx for sharing that jj, others in the same boat are going to be helped by it. And unlike so much of the madness coming from The Goddess of Guilt, it "makes sense". Why? Because its honest and true, its not a sham. That is the problem with some New Age ideas, they are just plain wrong. There is such a thing as "true", not Absolute True, but a reasonable true. Its ok for us

Quotecorboy Erasing Personal Integrity and other ‘Sorceric Techniques’ By David Worrell If he is not being sarcastic, that is Antisocial Personality Disorder, and being a sociopath, and literally a psychopath. He also left out the part about getting caught, ending up in jail, and saying everyone is against you. One wonders...it was said by Carol that Byron Katie was molested as a child,

Man, this gets more disturbing each day, as each layer is peeled away. Byron Katie is manipulating something called "Automatic Thoughts". Here is an excerpt from Dr. Aaron Beck on treating Delusions, with a comment about Automatic Thoughts. Using Cognitive Therapy to treat Delusions I do think Cognitive Therapy, and Assertiveness Training might be a good antidote to The Work.

I think is where some people who don't know any better say that The Work sounds like Cognitive Therapy. That is like saying a monkey and a mountain are the same as they both stick out of the ground. Cognitive Therapy examines Thoughts-Cognitions, but in a very balanced and careful way. One of the things one does is look for Cognitive Distortions, and work to modify them. Like the list fr

Right, I would not love to see Katie's definition of a "study"...a collection of Testimonials, anecdotes, or rigged one's like they do with TM. any study would have to be carried out by objective 3rd parties, like a university or the NIMH, then peer-reviewed in major journals, then replicated by other people, among many other things. There is not one LGAT system I have

this begs the question...about how Katie and Katiephiliacs represent "stories". If to her, everything is just a "story" and there is "no reality", then there is no just thing as "objective reality" or "truth". So one story is no more "true" than the next story, they are both just a story. So in that cosmology, even a story from imag

Oh lord, have mercy on us poor mortals...her "story" is called... Going to Work Naked: My Journey to Byron Katie Carol L. Skolnick I am speechless reading that. Carol seem to be a guru-jumper, one to the next. She does appear to be completely indoctrinated. She SAYS she only heard of Katie in early 2001, and then had a conversion experience. (no proof if that is true, or not).

I think this is very serious. For example, this doc came up from a on-site search for Byron Katie, dated February 20, 2008 Index of Chaplains. Maybe she is in the Chaplain Index, as she does preach a type of religion? Nope, the sir name Byron was in there, but not her name. How can she do work with Veterans, and have no registration whatsoever anywhere? What's the story? Not

I cannot find a single peer-reviewed controlled scientific study, or research from an independent university, evaluating the efficacy of "The Work" by Byron Katie and PTSD. Zero. Only testimonials, which are completely useless. Byron Katie's company needs to produce those studies immediately, if they are going to make those claims. Carol L. Skolnick should get those studies,

She clearly thinks she can fabricate anything she wants. If Byron Katie wanted to PROVE her claim, she could go get an MRI or CT scan of her brain, while she is being Triggered for that, and watch the reaction. She will never do that, of course. That is beyond evil, about the PTSD. Some of us happen to know a bit about PTSD, and Katie is preaching a dangerous, even deadly doctrine. That one

Quotejj52 However, she does repeat this phrase like a mantra to trance-induced people: "If The Work were the only way to God, would you take it?" That is what they call Presupposition in NLP, and also hypnosis. It also has the illusion of CHOICE, its a Forced-Choice. Presuppositions: If its the ONLY way to God..that presupposes God exists, and that The Work exists and works.

hmm, I wonder though, as she talked about lower-fees etc, for those specific professionals? I think they could offer it free or heavily discounted to psychologists, or psychiatrists to try to get them to take it. (if any have ever taken it? Lord I hope not.) Other groups do similar things, like Scientology giving it "free" to firefighters, etc. Its PR and social proof. Makes one

you know, some aggressive Entrepreneurs should get organized, and put all of these several hundred concepts about advanced seminars and cross-business synergies into one Knowledgebase, so they could streamline their operations. I just noticed this text from Byron Katie. She is offering FREE/discounted FEES to her School, to respected members of society, who actually might have the money. Why? Byron Katie Turnaround House. Question: how can that even be legal? Does she have the credentials for in-patient therapy? Is she a psychiatrist, with specialized training? She is saying by her symptom list, if you have CLINICAL DEPRESSION, give me $20,000. They are going to treat SUICIDE in that House? I agree, they want your valuable property, AND they want the stuff with the MOST MEANING to go to Katie, this gives her maximum Transference power over you. It will be interesting to see what information comes out about the DAMAGES sustained at the Byron KAtie School LGAT seminars. That type of Mind-Distortion, and Thought-Manipulation, going on 18+ hrs a day, 9 days in a row. For many people with a problem, that could easily push them over the edge. They claim NO OVER WAS EVER HURT by The Work. Oh yeah, then prove it? Where is the evidence

Yes, lets all try to remember (including me) that we are dealing with plain-text email, and its very easy to misinterpret that text at times. Also, we are dealing with complex, and at times highly emotional material, which can trigger the occasional Flame-War, especially if one has had one too many coffees. That being said, there is nothing wrong with expressing strong emotion, as well as lo

something really hit me today about this LGAT stuff, including the Byron Katie LGAT. One of their main techniques is to keep as much about the LGAT School and seminars SECRET. They want the subject content secret, and they certainly want to keep the LGAT techniques SECRET. Why? Because if you understand the subjects, ideas, and more important the LGAT TECHNIQUES they are going to use on y

one other point...is that helping to creating an environment of confusion around a specific LGAT seminar, is actually promoting that seminar. For example, this is what Landmark Forum does. If you go and ask anyone who helps promote it, what's it all about, you will get a string of confusing comments, jargon, conflicting statements, controversy, etc. This is called... Pogrammed Confusio

There seems to be a debate...who's worse? Eckhart Tolle or Byron Katire? ET or BK? Eckhart Tolle is no bargain. He claims to be an Enlightened Master, and people believe him? I would agree that outright "supporting" Byron Katie is not the correct word. Its better expressed as creating a "distortion field" and more confusion around Byron Katie, and trying to minimize and deflect from the LGAT aspects of it. To me its not the personal opinion, its the deflection, and the bias and conscious distortion. That does create an open door. In my book, when
