Hi Tent, That statement seems to be used as gas lighting. Its a very black and white statement which is a huge red flag. Any intelligent analysis of what the mind can do shows that this is only one thing the mind can do. Its a dismissive & crazy making statement so its gas-lighting used to make people to doubt themselves and control them.

Dear contantg, It is very hard to leave. After reading what you wrote I can see you have taken on much brainwashing. Here's the thing, each time you go to a sahaj yoga meeting you are told to meditate and then a talk of Shri mataji is played while you are meditating. That is how you get brainwashed, they put you in a receptive state and slowly and gradually expect you to become more and m

Yes, be skeptical because they are selling you on your own bliss, and any decent hypnotist could also do that and more because u r obviously a good subject. Just because u feel some bliss and it is very intense does not mean that anything else is true....

Dear Forum I am in a religious Movement called Sahaja yoga. I am there since 3years and I tried to get out but it is impossible to lo leave this group. I it impossible because it is sooo convincing. Yes she says that she is the holy ghost or the adi shakti. But her system really has no laws. It is about self realisation and once the kundalini pierces the sahasrara you become self-realize

There are various kinds of cults: religious, meditation, political, business, etc. Are there any forms of yoga that are branded and sold, which attract cultish like devotion? Like Dahn Yoga, Sahaja Yoga. Are there other brands of yoga that are similar? If so, how?

I would like to tell you about an interesting experience. I had been a devotee in the movement "Sahaja yoga" for several years. In the terms later years, I traveled to be part of the emerging music school administrated by Nirmala's family brother we called 'Babamama'. Babamama and I did become friends of sorts, as I was also commencing Sanskrit qualifications in my native

Openmindedskeptic, what you refer to as Sahaya Yoga--could that have been Sahaja Yoga? If so, your gut feelings saved you. And you are right, the point of Buddhadharma is not to feel like a rock. A teacher should not tell too many stories about him or herself, anyway. Mythologizing is an ego driven activity, not a meditational one. If you take a Driver Education class, you dont want a

Hi Brynhild, If what I wrote helps you or any other reader, that's a good thing. Too many people (not just New Wage gurus) are happy to play with our minds and make huge promises with the goal being not to help us, but to empty our minds so they can empty our bank accounts. If there's one thing I have learned during my years on this planet it's the importance of listening to

I didnt payed anyone. Nobody saw my money in Sahaja Yoga. Because its not about that. Its about energies. People who meditate together, and a guru who helps them. In my region this is all what is Sahaja Yoga about. And this is how it works all over the world. I know because I were in some countries already. But u must understand that we are talking about people here. And everyone has their proble

Ok! U have the right to doubt my words! U have to understand, that if u want to feel the Kundalini energie like a cold breeze u have to be purified very deply! I met many people (christians) for example, who had negative thoughts about energies and the energysystem. But when I went to their houses they always talked about purity and purification, and the simple words that Jesus said: U have to b

Marvel 23 - Maybe if you want people to accept the truth you could let them feel the breeze gushing out of your head? That would impress me as to the claims of your guru no end. I know thats ometimes its hard to understand and to accept Gods ways. Shri Mataj only talks about what she knows about this world. We all do that! We are talking about our experiences in life. It's all about the bottom line. Sahaja Yoga always claims to be free and that "no money is ever taken." But Mataji (the cult leader) has amassed a fortune and she, along with her husband and daughters, lives luxuriously on income raised through lucrative "India tours," mass weddings, pujas and "voluntary" contributions provided by her followers. These day

There was a time you could just go and do yoga and or mediation without affiliation to any specific living guru or group. The yoga classes were just the asana excercises and mediation was for relaxing the mind run by individuals who had no interest in 'power' play over other people. But the more I read here and in other places, I can see that things have gradually changed over the years

Sonnie Dee is right. Even my local library put revenues first after being warned about Sahaja Yoga. . In NJ, it appears LEC owns their conference center in a corporate park near Edison. Until 9/11, they rented floors in the World Trade Center so it's not only hotels that are renting ballroom space to them.

I took free meditation classes with someone involved with Science of Identity. Then it became a little too religious, with a lot of "shoulds" aimed at me. I stopped. Over the past couple of years, Sahaja yoga has made a presence in the public library. I went to the first class and exited when I saw the picture of the Mother on an altar with candles. There was no need for a yog

Well, the whole Landmark thing was a great educational experience. Now I can spot red flags right away, like the Sahaja yoga group at my local library last week, the slightest bit of love-bombing, pseudoscientific claims, and even legal junk like Landmark's. I did discuss the waiver, the potential stress, "adverse reactions" etc. with the doctor who so highly recommended LF.

I've been to a couple of her free lectures in NYC, but I don't know much else about her. She gives a talk and then has you put your hand over the fontanel part of your head and you're supposed to feel hot air blowing out of it. She's married to someone who works at the U.N., I think.

I was pretty disappointed to find that the free yoga classes offered at my library were Sahaja yoga, but was happy to say my prior experience with Science of Mind, Landmark, and pseudo-gurus, and all the support here, helped me sum up the room, the materials, and get the hell out fast. A few people showed up with yoga mats, but there was no space open on the floor, and the shrine to Shri Dev
