A bullet pointed fact sheet/backgrounder With links can be faxed and e-mailed to assignment desks in advance of James Ray arriving for one of his seminars. When sending these out, don't forget the Features editor, columnists and consumer reporters.

As a news story, it works for print, TV and radio because it's a VISUAL story - Ray, likely surrounded by bodyguards; protesters with signs, and people willing to go on air who are both for and against the 'Controversial Sweat Lodge Guru.'

Including a separate page of sample questions for journalists to ask is a nice twist on press kits which do the same for interviewers.

The last times James Ray appeared in public for a seminar, he was using personal security guards.

Also, any venue that is going to rent space to James Ray, should be made aware that he has blamed and implicated a former venue Angel Valley Retreat where the Sedona deaths and injuries happened. [www.phoenixnewtimes.com]

If the senior management of any venue/hotel is given full information about what has happened at the James Ray seminars, one cannot imagine the management being willing to risk their own company's reputation, and get entangled with such a dangerous operation.

An interesting aside, the obviously self-penned puff page for Death Ray's legal representatives. I like the description of themselves as taking on 'bet the company' cases, an acknowledgement perhaps of the clear risk involved in representing someone like JAR in this case. They have certainly been 'creative' in presenting in the Whitewash Papers their interpretation of the evidence.

They make perfect sense, for James Ray.
They were advertised to James Ray subscribers by email, its not targeted directly at the general public, but are listed on the public seminar websites.

Why not sell more expensive seminars? Its because of price point.
James Ray knows many followers do the same LGAT seminars over and over, as that is how they are designed.
He was also told not to do seminars which have serious physical risks, so he just will do the more basic verbal seminars, without the physical torture, for now.

And James Ray could also be selling more "advanced" expensive "private" exclusive seminars for his inner circle followers who have taken the intro seminars, and those could all be booked person to person over the phone, without advertising.
He could even have those "meetings" in his own house, like many LGAT Gurus do. They have seminars on their property and in their McMansions, as that makes it a tax write-off, and makes the inner circle followers feel special. All the main LGAT Gurus do a version of that for the inner circle followers.

He was doing that with his ridiculous scam to exploit vulnerable James Ray followers desperately seeking his approval, to try to cash-in on the Kabbalah cult craze.

Why schedule a seminar in June 2010, when that could be in the middle of the trial? Because it doesn't matter. If James Ray followers send in their money orders and checks now, then James Ray can reschedule or cancel any seminar at any time, for any reason.
What are people going to do? Demand their money back? Join the end of the line.

Or if the seminar goes ahead, then he makes even more money to pay his bills.
Its just a technique to get James Ray followers to send in money.

People could call the James Ray toll-free number listed from a pay-phone, and inquire about the details, the number is listed at the bottom of this page.
A person could even ask about booking a hotel room, and inquire about the hotel location.

But just because the seminar is advertised and they collect cash money-orders, doesn't mean they have to hold the seminar. All they have to say is they are rescheduling it for any reason, and they have the money.
If they can get a few hundred people to send in $1300 each using money orders and checks, that is money in hand.
That is why they won't use credit cards, as a person could do a chargeback if its cancelled. And/or, as stated by others, perhaps their account got cancelled, because perhaps there were hundreds of chargebacks on the account, from people cancelling their pre-payments for the events and seminars that got cancelled in the last few months.

You better believe they would have tried to charge everyone for everything they signed up for, even if it was cancelled.
They charged people who died at their seminars, for later seminars they did not attend as they were deceased.
