The fact that she puts that show out exactly at the time when Death Ray's preliminary proceedings are underway shows exactly how little she cares about her victims.

James Arthur Ray - John of God - Oprah - unholy Trinity

Oprah promoted James Arthur Ray several times, and people ended up dead, and hurt.

Now she promotes John of God, another brazen con-artist making millions, offshore. John of God is likely even more dangerous than James Arthur Ray, he is offshore, and he is cutting into people with unsterilized instruments, and exploiting desperate people who are sick.

Why doesn't Oprah go see John of God herself, and let this unlicensed quack-con cut into her with with dirty equipment, and bare hands, with open blood?
Oprah never ends up in the death lodges, or with infections. She has a private medical doctor.

For Oprah to refuse to have any of the critics of John of God on her show, is beyond reproach.
She is also promoting the fake John of God in her magazine. Awful.

"update: 17 Nov 2010. More than five years after John Quinones did his piece on João Teixeira de Faria, Oprah sent Susan Casey (editor of Oprah's magazine, O, and an even less curious journalist than Quinones) to "investigate." The result is more of the same: no real investigation into the deceit, but every effort to find a "miracle" and a doctor (Dr. Jeff Rediger) to validate it all."

Is James Arthur Ray the guy who wrote The Secret?

During the summer quite a few z-list celebrities here in the UK kept going on about 'The Secret' during interviews. There was one person on Big Brother who seemed completely obsessed with it. She was adamant she got on Big Brother because of 'The Secret'. I had absolutely no idea what they were on about at the time.

This is the customer-killing James Arthur Ray who is due for trial in February for the manslaughter of 3 people in a sweat-tent in October 09. He has a significant history of doing damage to his customers including a suicide, Colleen Conaway, previously that same year.

A cautionary tale:

He featured in the Secret but did not write it, Oprah plugged him and his fellow Secreteers mercilessly until the deaths last year, after which it was pastures new.

Salty Droid witness caren Wendt's connections to James Ray

Salty Droid has just posted that witness Caren Wendt, who claimed seeing no problems with the 2008 sweat lodge (fine, there's no reason to exclude prior evidence then, is there), seems to be in James Ray's downline in an MLM company called GreenSwitch.

There is a lawyers video blog here:

[ireport.cnn.com]

where Mr Cantor attempts a lame defence of James Arthur Ray----the victims were adults so have no reason to expect anything in the way of safety considerations from the leader of the sweat-tent to whom they paid $10.000 for the event. Ergo-- it was their own fault.
Comments are open if anyone cares to enlighten Mr Cantor.

Re: James Arthur Ray - Dr. Oz, Oprah, James Randi, John Of God, scam

The whole cutting thing JoG is doing is also likely to be sleight of hand (people like Randi have demonstrated how this trick can be done). Real or not, what I find truly scary is that the people, many of them with very high education levels including doctors, who come to him believe he is actually doing all those things and are willing to submit to that. This is an indication to me of undue social influence processes at work that are turning off healthy reflexes such as flinching away from someone going at your eyeball with a knife and any ability to think critically. The John of God, eye-ball slicing and nose-pliers are carnival tricks.

They showed an apparent video, where John of God cut a hole in a guy, and was sticking his bare fingers in there, and none of his stuff is sterilized. Then people go home, and have to deal with the infections, which don't make it on Oprah.

That is probably mixed with the sleight of hand, like they did with psychic surgery scam.

Its shocking that anyone from a first world country, with an education, would let some random guy in Brazil cut them open? Its truly scary.
