Concerned for a friend

A friend of mine joined Christchurch London when he moved here just over a year ago. Since then he's been changing his life dramatically, and on Friday told me that he could no longer see me alone (we used to hang out at least once a week for the last 3 years) because I'm a girl. This apparently goes for all girls. His personality has completely changed, he rarely goes to see his family anymore, instead calling the church his 'family' and is increasingly judgmental of 'normal' lifestyles.

I am becoming very concerned that he's losing his identity and pushing away all his social ties outside this Church.

Any advice would be very gratefully received.

Sounds like he definitely got wrapped up in a cult. Cults seek to cut off all relationships outside of the group and also demand tremendous changes in one's life. Also, cultic groups in general view female sexuality as a society evil that must be kept at bay at all costs.

Since you say that you cannot see him alone anymore, perhaps you can send him a letter outlining your concerns?
