Does anyone know anything about a group of Quakers in Africa, led by McKays and voluntary programs?

There is a group under discussion here, who were founded by an American called Dave McKay. If these the McKays you are enquiring about, you will find interesting posts on this board, including some from members, ex members and from the leader of the Jesus Christians.

Dear Matilda and AWebster,

You may also find David's daughter Christine (the only one of his four children to have remained "under the thumb" and currently in Kenya long with husband Robin Dunn and the Gianstefanis I believe) also contributing to the Australian Quaker Forum at the present time ("Christine from Kenya" registered this February).

The saccharine contributions at one point note how "calling people names" can actually be more harmful than physically harming someone (....so whip them all while wishing them "God's peace" instead?).....coming from someone in an organization that "breaths" calumny eveytime it so much as puts finger to keyboard, the sanctimonious cant "inspires" the deepest and profoundest retch....Uiiggghh!!

Are ALL the Quakers really so utterly guileless? God help them....!

As a recovering ex-member of Dave McKay's cult I have brought his connection (he uses the Quaker name and reputation to recruit and raise money for himself) to the attention of several Quaker online boards. I have never received a reply from anyone. I thought you guys didn't care and you had your heads in the sand. I found that very distressing. Please, please join forces with us. This man needs to be stopped forthwith.

The distress that David McKay has caused is eclipsed only by his denial of any responsibilty of his actions.

Interpreting sacred writings in such a way is reprehensible. The McKays are Australian Quakers and have some support of local Australian leaders on the Australian Quaker forum, which represents Australian Friends on the web.
Dave McKay describes the moderator on the forum as the 'captain ess of the ship' and she has responded by confirming that ' he walks the walk'. They appear to ignore criticisms and search for the light that exists in everyone, in him. Yet there may be questions being asked privately as can be the way of friends.
An element of censorship is discernible on the AQF on this topic.
Friends are a very diverse and tolerant group, free thinkers rather than censors tend to find an attraction to the freedom thereof.

The moderator of the AQF has slowly been taken in by Dave's flattery of her. He likes to do the "leader to leader", "captain to captainess (in this case)" inner circle type conversations thereby setting himself above those classified as "followers".

The Quakers are simply one of a number of organisations that Dave has over the years infiltrated by being a chameleon. They give him money, and by being a member he is able to use their name to protect himself when the heat is on him, such as he did when writing to Kenyan authorities previously.
