Nerveno, how were you first drawn to the Rosicrucian Order? I am interested in all things "unusually" religious (no offense is meant, but lets fact it AMORC is an "unusual religion"). Yes. Yes. I know it claims not to be a religion yet the rituals speak religion to me, otherwise why the need to do them even if it is to "center" a person. I also understand t

Nerveno, how is Michael Jones "picking" on AMORC? I love this site for all the information it provides and how recovering cult-members can vent and illuminate about their experiences. I am only aware of "bullying" on this site by active cultists and cult apologists, IMO. Also, I appreciated the information of lung problems from heavy users of incense.

I know you said it will premiere in Jan 09, but things change. I understand it is a "student" film but so was "THX-1138". Will this get released with a studio or is this such a small film it will be seen on IFC only?

Freidenker, I got this from a quick search of Wikipedia (I know, not the best or most trusted of sources): The Second World War temporarily hindered the anthroposophical movement in most of Continental Europe, as the Anthroposophical Society and most of its daughter movements (e.g. Steiner/Waldorf education) were banned by the National Socialists (Nazis);[11] virtually no anthroposophists e

Gulab Jamon, After further exploration on the web it appears that these charges are baseless (Daily Kos removes posts). In a heated election cycle, we must be aware of propaganda from one camp or the other. Thanks for your vigilance, but take all propaganda with a grain of salt or we are each personally responsible for spreading baseless stories. God, I hate politics.

Hi, Gulab Jamon... Thanks for the post, but I must admit I didn't see anything in your links about "Jew Hating" at the church. Since the links you provide to these blogs are "August 29" and "Sept. 2" respectively with the video link is from "Sept 4", yet none of this appears to have any legs at this point and probably never will. In the age of the

Kwinnky, I am not aware of the Egyptian mythos directly influencing Christianity as much the Greek mythos (Virgin Birth is essential in many of the god-fertilizes-virgin-and-gives-birth-to-a-Hero). In fact the only reference to Jesus' supposed "virgin birth" is the Greek translation of the Gospel according to John (I believe, biblical scholors, please correct me if I am wrong). T

And of course, Eckhart Tolle and "The Power of Now" is mentioned this week in Newsweek....It seems that Rielle Hunter, the mistress of the failed presidential hopeful John Edwards, is big into Eckart Tolle and thinks it is her mission to spread the word. Here's the story link:

net1261, You are to be congratulated on making this first (mental) step to escape. I have friends and family who are caught up in the JWs. They would never have searched for "forbidden" information on the web (anything critical of the JWs) so my hat is off to you. I hope you have no close family members caught in the JWs that will "shun" you. Please search the Rick Ros

I have had anonymous death threats (I'm assuming) made against me on my answering machine on more than one occasion. I used to have a pest control business and I actually got a message like this (paraphrasing, but close to original message): "Murderer! F**king butcher! We are going to get you! Hitler only killed a few million Jews and you probably are responsible for killing twic

I have attended (several times during college in the mid-late 70's) charsmatic catholic meetings, so, Zinga, I think the mid to late eighties is putting the date a little late. I don't know if in fact they were going from the 60's or what not. And yes, everyone spoke in tongues (Not me, I was an observer). I was told by a priest in attendance and several nuns, that everyone

These cats were shut down here in Connecticut by the State's insurance commissioner when they went under another name years ago. They changed their name and got back on track with the State. Transparent, thanks for the video. Personally I would be wary of any group that recruits with such an odd video. I was especially distrubed by the phallus (cucumber) being the "I" in "instruction". Hmmmm. Very "Clergy abuse" to me. Seriously, having been personally subjected to christian "cults" before, I can see the allure of showing young people a

Ding Dong, Sylvia Browne's ugly career could be dead. Montel Williams made her career by pushing her lies and sloppy "cold reading" to his mind-numbed audience. Now, Montel's show is ending. Unless High Priestess Oprah or maybe Jerry Springer has her on frequently, her star will hopefully be setting. Please check out this website for ALL your Syvia Browne needs...

Peter, Could you perhaps put the telephones in your name? The bills would come to you to make things "easier" for your mum. If the phones were in your name, could you therefore put (legally) a "block" on the phones so the psychics numbers could not be dialed from your mum's numbers? Your mum would be mad as a wet hen, but it could save her from the frauds and you c

Blaze, there are 12-step programs out there which are completely secular in nature. I also understand that they have a slightly higher success rate than 12-steps in which you must surrender to a "higher power". A simple search on line for "12-step programs non-religious" will reveal a slew of sites. I am sorry your family is being torn apart by this. This sounds like A

Peter Jones, is your mum of "sound mind" (with the exception of the dial-a-psychics)? I live in the USA and over here we can put "blocks" on phones from dialing certain numbers. If you are a guardian for your mum, as your sorting out her bills seems to indicate, you may be able to contact your UK telephone providers and legally block all your mum's phones from dialing t

Excellent point, The Anticult. Great post. Keep up the good fight as I am not a big follower of the "High Church of Oprah" and her "loon of the week" she is foisting on the uneducated jackasses viewers and selling her brand of new age religion. Thank you and rrmoderator for keeping us aware of the complete liars Byron Kaite's and the Eckhart Tolle's of the world.

Excellent point, The Anticult and also, as always, rrmoderator. csp is clearly trying to defend E.T. ("phone home") and is willing to "take one for his/her team" by taking on the Rick Ross community. The Anticult, when you say "trance" you can't mean hypnosis, since that "wears off" rather quickly. I, too, believe that Byron Katie is an abusive figure raking in as much dough as she can before the gravy train dries up, but I, as a skeptic and as I know you are, find it hard to believe a "trance" can last years. It is obvious that Gee is a "true believe

All I know from a minor web search is it is run by it's founder Peter A. Michas and according to some links has Kabbalah influences. Many of their teachings would appear to re-write the Torah and Christian Bibles (diehard claims of and underground river in Jerusalem and other odd geological differences from reality). I have not encountered any "cultists" from this peculiar faith.
