I guess I should explain that a bit. Sounds kind of nasty. Let's just say, I've encountered some LW folks recently who would prefer that I simply dropped dead. Sorry to disappoint them. : )

A note to you current LW members: we're still alive and talking here. Maybe you need to pray harder.

I asked a relatively harmless, minor question to my pastor about something. He turned and glared at me, then his response was this question: "Why don't you trust me? Do you have trust issues?" Looking back on it now, I realize what a cheap-shot that was. His intention was to shut me down. (Didn't work very well, however.)

I happened to hear that "John took Satan down" teaching in person. I remember thinking how absolutely ridiculous it sounded to me. It was a real wake up call and a big, bitter pill I could never fully swallow. Talk about hubris !!!

I mention it merely so we can celebrate the destruction of Satan on this day in 1984, as taught by G&M.

If your family member is moving to Iowa to be a part of Shiloh then I would be concerned. They have hired PR firms to help improve their image. They will tell you how much they have changed. My opinion, it's still the cult it has always been. The leaders still claim that "Shiloh is the center of the universe", for example. The main pastors are very ruthless people. If you ques

We were often told that the first thing you were to do upon waking up in the morning was to "put your spirit upon Marilyn". And to keep it there all day long.

I quoted this song. It hit a raw nerve. I was told constantly that I needed to die. That is an awful way to live. Never measuring up, as long as you're still breathing.

I finished watching the HBO documentary on Scientology. I retract my prior statement. There are very few similarities between Scientology and the Living Word. One similarity, however, is when the founder (Hubbard) died, a young aggressive man siezed the leadership and started taking the church into more ruthless practices.

Another common thing they will say is: "You never had a revelation of John" or "You never had a revelation of Marilyn" I tried like crazy to get a "rev". Hours spent "waiting on the Lord" to no avail. I just never got it. At some point I decided there was only a revelation of God. The rest was just a carrot on a stick.

I heard a current LW person say that we "blow outs" (that post on this forum) were never real disciples when we were with the LW. This person said that we were phoneys. And we were never really a part of it. That must be how the current members see us and are able to marginalize what is being said here. See, we don't matter. We were never true believers. : )
