I may not be a "credible" RR poster, but I would like to state the following observation. In my long tenure in the LW (even until recent), I never heard Marilyn referred to as the Holy Spirit. I do not think they ever crossed that line. But it was said she was the "Lamp of Israel" and had the "Mind of Christ". Whatever that means. I think it was left to the shee

So Lilly Rose, are you now stating that any post here on the Rick Ross forum is not "credible" unless the person making the post completly identifies themself and provides scriptural references to back their statements? I do not recall that being a requirement of this forum. As ex-cult members, yes are posts will sound biased and yes, most of them will sound critical of the LW leader

LR, now that you are explaining it better, yes, I agree with you. Sure, a lot of this is speculation. I am not psychic, however. Ha! Far from it. I am an ex-LW member. That is all. I was there and saw a lot of these things first hand. And now, it is really sad to learn of Marilyn's passing. Our hearts go out to our LW friends and loved ones that must be devastated by her pas

WTF, Lilly Rose? What grounds are you using to dismiss what I posted? I won't reveal my sources, but they are extremely reliable. Do posts now need footnotes with references before they are considered valid?

Let's not forget that Marilyn was advertised as "John's perfect other half". This was a strong theme at their wedding. And after John died it was brought out in a word how John's big sin had been not opening up to Marilyn fully. Those close to G&M have observed that it is not a 50/50 relationship. Marilyn is running things. Gary is just her mouthpiece. Th

I received an interesting note from someone in San Diego: The San Diego church is not healthy. There are terrrible reports about the Larsens. Especially Gilee Larsen who has become the Marilyn-empowered monster down there. An ex-LW-elder said that in the whole history of the walk, these are the worst cases of spiritual abuse he has ever seen. Gilee has become really mean and nasty to peopl

That reminds me of something else Larry said. The Palmer Lake church was trying to reach out to other Christian churches in the Colorado Springs area. It failed. What they didn't realize was that all those C-Springs churches have a nickname for the Palmer Lake LW church. They call it "The Cult on the Hill"

So here's the question of the week for you all: When you were inside, did you ever consider that the Living Word might, just might, possibly be a cult? Did you have little nagging thoughts in the back of your mind? Feelings that it might be an unhealthy church. I sure did. I remember when the Jonestown tragedy happened. I thought to myself: " Crap, now they are going to inve

A lot of people do not want to leave TLW. It is their whole world. All their friends and sense of security is attached to this group. And maybe for some of the older members, it is best if they stay put. Hopefully TLW as they know it will outlive them. And for many, it is sort of like long-time prisoners that decide they like it better in prison than on the outside. So much easier inside

AD, what is interesting is that I can recall being in the LW and being taught that to deny that "Christ had come in the flesh" was to deny Jesus. And they said that was akin to blaspheming the Holy Spirit, which was the big unforgivible sin.

I'm sure the South Gate congregation had no vote in the shut down decision. Even though they were the ones paying the bills and maintaining the church. Unless you were deemed a "kingdom facility" your head was (is) on the chopping block. It was difficult to survive as a lowly local church. 80% of the tithes and offerings were sent to the APCO support fund and "word for

I think for some of us the hurt goes very deep. We came in by our own choice in our teens and 20's. These are very formative years for a young adult. We opened up deep. We swallowed the whole enchilada. Kids born into the LW mostly do not do this as strongly. And when it comes time to question their upbringing, I think a lot of them can walk away easier. But those that chose the Wa

Let's not forget that Gary Hargrave was never a "little person". He came into the San Diego church while in college and was very quickly included into the eldership. After 6 months, he was an assistant pastor. And it just escalated from there. I think being a part-time cop in Redlands really helped him develop his bullying skills. All of this made him the out-of-touch cult l

Well said, Saw. Also, I understand that G&M have taken a strong stand against same-sex marriage. My impression is that Marilyn has always been extremely homophobic. To the point of kicking her own daughter out of the fellowship. "They will know we are Christians by our love"

This thread has been talking alot about things that happened years ago. But I would like to point out to you all that these bahavior patterns have not stopped. There continues to be affairs, "spiritual wives", abused sheep and womanizing conducted by the leadership even now. Perhaps they've just gotten better at hiding it now.

I recall that "getting a revelation" was a big carrot on a stick that was constantly presented before the sheep. First is was "get a revelation of JRS", then it was "get a revelation of Marilyn". And other important and vague, magical concepts. I think now it wasn't the Lord revealing to us, but us "snapping" and closing off our inner BS detectors a
