I read somewhere that JRS’s PhD comes from some mail-order, unaccredited Bible school. Meanwhile, at Shiloh U, Gary Hargrave awards himself an honorary PhD. Rather unethical.

This is an interesting read. A master’s thesis about ex- members who were raised in a cult, then exited after they became adults. It discusses the challenges of that transition.

I agree. It doesn’t look like she was “marginalized” at all. She said she would only post a few times then leave. And that’s what she did. There were several on-going threads going on at the same time, but it doesn’t appear that anyone was trying to suppress her.

This statement from YouTube has been posted several times here: "The hardest day of freedom is better than the best day inside a cult." I have to disagree with this a bit. There were some good days in the LW cult and I’ve had some awful ones post-cult. I would say it is true for 95% of the days of my life. Life is much better now. I am so glad I left. I just wanted to say thi

Hey everyone. Here’s a few of the RR rules for this forum. There was one situation of sexual abuse that I was familiar with. It had to do with a sheep submitting themselves to an elder as their “designated relationship” and as “christ in the flesh”. The elder took advantage of the situation and coerced sex acts with this sheep against the sheep’s will. The person was devastated. G&M heard about it and thankfully removed the elder. At a meeting

We are definately on the same side here. I think those old posts quoted above are accurate. The names are out there. There are other victims that were hurt much more deeply that I’d rather not name in public. I’d rather not be someone who increases their pain. Perhaps those victims (when they are ready) would join this conversation and give their testimony. I’m pretty sure some of them are re

Like a lot of other churches, the LW has had plenty of pastors & elders abusing their authority over a person for sex. It has happened both male-elder to female-sheep and male-elder to male-sheep. Lives were really messed up by this. People were hurt deeply. LR, I won’t mention names, out of respect for the victims. But these things did indeed happen. And JRS and G&M worked hard to

Here’s an interesting TED talk from a woman who left a cult. There are some differences from hers and the LW. But there are some significant similarities too.

There’s an interesting short article in the 4/30/2018 issue of People magazine about the Branch Davidian cult in Waco Texas. Some guy named Charles Pace is attempting to rebuild the place. I guess the seeds of a cult are difficult to destroy. That got me to thinking about the Living Word and all the crazy teaching that has come over the years. I’ve never heard Gary renounce any of JRS’s m

I was recently talking to someone and I was trying to describe the LW cult. I was trying to think of a more well-known cult the the LW is most similar too. Any suggestions? I came up with these two: William Branham The Branch Davidians But maybe there’s a group that is more similar.

People who worship the “God in the sky” are often ridiculed. It is the “Christ in the Flesh” that really matters to LW leadership.

Here’s a question: Besides the First Principles, we were also told in the LW that JRS was the one who started the act of “singing in the spirit”. I suspect that is not really true and that other early pentecostal groups were doing this long before 1951.
