Great to hear from you GS. Here was so much interesting content on the old FactNet forums. When it was fading away, I tried to grab the content and save it to my hard drive. I probably only got about 20% of it. There was so much. (except for the flame wars)

LR, did you ever go out on one of Rocky Cowie’s herb picking trips? I remember picking a plant that we used for salads. We called it malva, as I recall. The running joke was not to pick it around fire hydrants. Yikes! Old, weird memories.

I agree. This is very sad news. Carol was a very kind human. Very loving person. She will be very much missed.

A lot of these posts have been about JRS and the LW as it existed decades ago. I would like to remind everyone just how well John taught his young ministries. A lot of his quirks were duplicated in the new LW leadership. Alcoholism, adultey, hubris and narcissistic behavior are all alive and thriving in the currect LW leadership. Yes the cult started in 1951. But it’s still just as cultic as

GTIO. Welcome to the RR forum. I love your screen name. And wow, I remember that slut-shameing message that Marilyn brought to the YASPers. So messed up.

To those of you still active in the Living Word that are monitoring this forum. Here's a few thoughts for you to think about: Why do you suppose that the Living Word is listed on nearly every cult web site and published lists of toxic churches? Mainline Christianity and mental health professionals call the LW a cult. Why is that? I suggest you find out. Do your own research on this.

So true, Larry. Summer vacations are frowned upon. You are not allowed to “take a coffee break from God”. Summer vacations are for going to Shiloh for 2 weeks of hot labor and long services. “Sleep Deprivation Camp”. And of course your local Palmer Lake pastor bought a fixer upper house and remodeled it with the help of work weekends, where the church members provided free labor. They cam

I remember hearing a similar word given to the sheep of a LW church that was being shut down and sold off. They were being rebuked for having put roots down in the city the LW church was in. Never mind that many of the sheep had careers and established businesses in that location. If they were truly kingdom focused, they were to walk away from all of that. Funny how little of that Lilies

When a church stops giving enough to the central apostolic ministry, it’s time to close it down, sell the assets off and move the funds into a corporation that has ultimate ownership by the “apostolic fathering ministry” (i.e. Gary) Seems like Shiloh probably runs in the red most of the year. It probably is on the chopping block. San Diego as well.

Mental health professionals will tell you there is an inner self that is deep and private. A normal person keeps this place secret and private. It is very unhealthy to expose this place to another human. But the Living Word demands that you open it up and give it all. You are expected to tell your “designated relationship” everything. Including these secret places. This is very harmful IM

Regarding point #3, I’m trying to think of specific points of actual deception. What do any of you recall? I guess one is the basic appearance of a regular Christian church when in fact, the LW is barely Christian at all. Heck, most members are inclined to never say the name “Jesus”. They say “Christ” or “Lord” instead. Any other deceptions you can think of?

Corboy, by my estimates 1) What proportion of people in LW were also attending the back room meetings? Probably only 10% 2) Were these back room meetings generally known about, or secret? Only known to those invited 3) What did a member have to do before he or she was allowed or invited to attend these back room meetings> Worked at the LW building, Blix house or be an elder in good st

I recall hearing in LW services, teachings about the “unforgivable sin”, i.e. blaspheming the Holy Spirit. It was said that to deny that Christ was coming forth in his people was equivalent to blaspheming the Holy Spirit. The LW teaches that the 2nd coming of Christ will happen with Christ coming forth in his body first. Then later, the actual reappearing of Jesus. This doctrine empowers the l

Acesandates, it is my opinion that you were not in long enough to suffer the negative effects of the Living Word. You were injesting rat poison but you probably didn’t reach a toxic level. And Casa de Oro saved you. Ray filtered the word to reduce that toxic, cult crap from the LW teaching. If you had been living in LA, I think you would have had a very different relationship with the LW and

Another expression that was used often was “taking a coffee break from God” It was used to shame anyone who had outside interests or wanted to go on a vacation. This is high-demand cult tactics. It is so unhealthy.

These are excellent points, Corboy. I recall a line constantly said “Rebellion is witchcraft”. I also recall Marilyn saying that any member criticizing the LW is like a rattlesnake sticking it’s head up. The only thing to do is quickly chop it’s head off.
