Great question, StopLGATs. It will be interesting to see how LGATs adapt to COVID-19. With a treatment coming in the fall, I wonder how significant the impact will be.

George x, thanks for posting. I found the Sedona Method in 2010, and I agree with everything you said. The best part was how they don't even know it's a scam. I believe the creators scammed themselves, charming subsequent people into believing. I honestly believed in it, but it's nothing more than a meditative exercise for imagining concepts as actual objects we can let go of. I

Are there any lawyers who would be willing to represent me in a lawsuit against Landmark "Education"? I completed the "Curriculum for Living" in 2012, and I apologized for Landmark until early this year. After reading that 500 page research paper that breaks down their induced-mania trick, I realized what's going on. I see now that they are not a scam, a religion, nor a p

Hi, kdag. You said, "Are you trying to tell me that there's no > manipulation intended" I said, "I don't think they are taught to manipulate people deceptively". I do believe they teach to manipulate, just like my school training had an entire course on how to manipulate teachers into doing what we want; or how salesmen are taught psychological tricks.

Very interesting, kdag. I experienced this staring effect on many occasions in Landmark. In my Advanced Class, I looked over and saw a girl staring at me with a smile, like she was in a trance. I was caught off guard but started to feel special. She seemed like a regular Landmark customer, but later I found she was "reviewing" the Advanced Course in order to become a leader. I know

Corboy: thanks. I've read that document several times. This question is for anyone reading: do you know where I can get more specific info about Werner's library? What specific books did he read, for example?

kdag: thanks for your thoughts. "I don't know how much it matters whether or not they/Warner believe that they are making you a "better" person." If I understand you correctly, you're saying we should look at the consequences more than the intent. Whether Werner really wants to help or not, the consequences of his words and programs are so bad that everyone sho

I've tried to convince so many people that Landmark is not good, but because Landmark is so good with its psychological tricks, it's hard to find one solid reason why it's not good. For example, abuse? Rip off? Scam? Unsustained progress? Sounds like regular psycho-therapy to me. Of course, there's one predominantly crucial difference between therapy and LGAT seminars.

I have a question about Werner Erhard's intent behind Landmark. I'm watching a documentary on him, and it's creepy now that I believe it intentionally brainwashes people. However, here's my thought: do you think Erhard's goal from the beginning was to start a scam he knew would trick people and make him a lot of money? Or do you think he believed his own lies and thought

I replied to a cult post on Reddit and decided to share my answer with you. If you have any questions or need clarification, I'll do my best to help. I'm an ex-cult member of applied behavioral psychology (ABP). It's one of the most powerful, detrimental cults and is at this very moment ruining our children, friends, and society as we know it. I'm not calling psychology

Yeah, I recall Landmark offering full refunds for all courses I was in during 2012. I'm also aware of some workers in 2015 who acknowledged that you can get a full refund if you argue long enough. Never heard about a partial refund.

GloriaG, I too was a group leader in the seminar. I didn't see it as a form of control. I saw it as trying to show people the benefit of committing to your word. Saying sorry doesn't get back the time lost waiting for someone to call in or the lost benefit from having been on time. It was an exercise that helps me put more effort into being on time and honoring my word in all faces o

GloriaG, thank you for writing that. You're right. This past day I spent several hours on the phone with a friend who did the Forum, and we started to unravel all of the BS behind the company and its business model. It's all starting to make sense, and I could write a whole book on what I'm realizing. A couple brief points. One, it hit us that Landmark sets up difficult rules (n

My upfront opinion is that you didn't come off with the intent of getting anywhere with that person. You were venting valid frustration, and as a Landmarker, I can say a Landmark receptionist would've answered more "profoundly". But I don't blame her for giving up after the rapist part. In all fairness, how do you know your therapist isn't a rapist? And why would it

Hi, thanks. Are you actually Rick Ross or just a forum mod? I've now read every one of this site's Landmark articles. I'm still struggling to understand why anyone would take this route to making money. It seems convoluted unless there's a sincere belief that the effort will help people. The only way I can imagine someone going through all this effort is if they dropped aci

I've been reading this site's database articles on Landmark. A few of them are very helpful. Thanks to Rick Ross for compiling all of this, however I must say that 4 years ago when I looked up Landmark and cults, this site nor its articles were high in the search engine results. Perhaps we ought to get these articles more up front for those searching for info. I'll start to link th

Some more thoughts: Landmark states that integrity is a mountain with no top - it can never be achieved. The best we can do is constantly restore it. For years, this made sense since all people are fallible, and it's foolish to think we've reached a place where we no longer err. I'm also seeing it now as a guilt-trip, similar to original sin in Catholicism. Like constantly havin

Hi, I found this forum today after researching Landmark and cults. I apologize for the length, but I have a lot to say. I'll share my Landmark experience and why I think it's good / bad. I was introduced to the Landmark Forum 4 years ago. Since then, I've considered it the most important weekend of my life, yet I'm struggling to decide whether it's ultimately worth it. I
