QuoteBraveHeartbjw, The over whelming theme of the bible is reconciliation, God Reconciling man to himself. In looking at your guys Charles Ryrie, Bob George and MacArthur I see some of the basic similarities with all of these guys. This is completely false. Ryrie and George (and I know Bob George personally, he is a good friend of my Dad's) both disagree with John MacArthur and both ha

QuoteBraveHeartHmm? you did not answer.... To you what is the gospel? What is Salvation? and why? Salvation from what? What are the essentials of the Christian faith? You gave an example of what you think a cult looks like or behaves like But then according to that example, or understanding your logic; Are the "Girl-Scouts" and "Boy-Scouts" are displaying

QuoteBraveHeartbjw, I'm sorry but I am having a hard time following you in your arguments, as they are creating a lot of confusion, to fully understand your accusations you are making. I'm in the Sacramento area and I'm still looking for a good church. I'm not really interested in getting into a personal attack especially someone I have only heard of, but don't know.

QuoteBraveHeartjasonc65, bjw, isitacult and the others here in this blog. I have read this thread and I find the accusations being made here are simply opinions without any proof or substance to back up the accusations being made, simply fools airing their own opinion. My challenge to all of you is please post what you believe the gospel is....and why. Please remember this teaching f

QuoteCalvarypuppetHello, I was wondering if anyone has had any experiance with this church? The pastor is a very strange person and does not understand what confidentiality means. He has shared personal things with me about other members of the congregation, which are absolutely none of my business. He also feels he has the right to look into a persons background under the guise of &q

John MacArthur has finally completely flipped! I am still on the cult's mailing list and I received a postcard from The Master's College a few days ago that has a picture of the college's Rutherford Hall (an administration building that houses the on-site offices of both John MacArthur and his secretary Sharon Staats plus the cult's financial offices.) Amazingly, the build

I have read the last two posts. I did much more than listen to sermons from this MacArthur hundreds of miles away from him. I was a member of his church, attended his college, have been to his mansion, lived in an apartment building/dorm complex owned by him, and was taken for thousands of dollars by him. I can tell you unequivically that his teachings are not biblical in any sense of the term

QuoteconcernedbroI am a deeply concerned man, from Ireland, who has seen his younger brother (18) become heavily involved in right-wing fundamental Christianity. He has began to express an interest in trying to get scholarships to the States and study theology at Master's in California. The only universities that my family ( being so far away) would have heard of in California would be Be

Quotewanda laroseHi I am new to this forum. I have a lot of questions but I want to start with nouthetic counseling. I have looked at a number of sites on it and it is used widely in it seems all types of denominations. It is widely praised. At first glance you wonder why it would be a bad thing to try to heal yourself from scripture. But then I read what you said about the father bein

Quoteisitacult?Quotebjw One good thing was that Macarthur telling me I was saved gave me some ammo against his followers that continously told me I wasn't, but unfortunately that didn't last long. There were still many that kept telling me I was lost. That is interesting. His followers were more "MacArthurish" than MacArthur! And that makes me wonder if his followers ar

Quotearchaeologisti find it dangerous to label individual churches as cultic. yes the evangelicals tend to elevate their spiritual leaders to a high status but that doesn't mean they have gone cultic for many of those leaders would and do refuse such promotion. sometimes the leader gets too big a head and just needs a good head slap to help him regain his proper perspective. then in read

Quoteisitacult?Let's go back to this conversation with MacArthur: I talked to John MacArthur about George's views in his office and he told me that he knew I loved my father, but it was time I made a choice. What prompted this conversation? At the time my roomates were concerned about my salvation because I was reading the Bob George books that my father was sending me, and I was

Quoteisitacult? So we can take it that when MacArthur speaks like Free Grace men are heretics, what he means is that they are not saved men, not that they are saved but have fallen into serious error? That is truly amazing. I find it incredible that anyone could read Ryrie, or L.S. Chafer, or any of the early Dallas men and draw the conclusion that they are not saved. Right, he feels that any fre

Quoteisitacult?I am surprised they would think that about Graham since his gospel presentation does call for a Lordship commitment. Did MacArthur or anyone in leadership ever say specifically that Ryrie or any other Free Grace teacher was not saved? Were those in the Bible studies that felt that way about Ryrie ever corrected by anyone higher up? At the time I was there the chaplin of the c

Quoteisitacult?BJW, Thank you for sharing your story. I had almost made up my mind that GCC was not a cult and maybe not even cultic. I decided it was not really a safe church or a church I would recommend but was pretty sure it wasn't right to call it a cult. But your account tells me I need to reevaluate my conclusion. You are the first person I have heard from who has been to t

Quoteisitacult? Thanks shakti. That helps a lot. Thanks for your honesty. I understand your position and see how it affects your view of MacArthur. I will say this for him- it is a point in his favor that there is no retaliation for leaving. I didn't even think of that before. I appreciate you pointing it out. This is completely false. They do retaliate for you leaving. The chur

I was in this cult 12 years ago for 2 years when I got suckered into going to his college right out of high school. I haven't been to this board in awhile but I'm glad I've found others that are willing to talk about it. It is a very destructive counseling cult that masquerades as Christianity, and you are not told how they really believe until you have paid your money and moved

I am looking for other people that have been hurt by a cult called Grace Community Church (aka Lorship Salvation movement aka Masters Seminary) in Southern California that is headed by leader John MacArthur. They use a mind control counseling system similar to Scientology where someone must sign a clause where the church can't be sued if you committ suicide. They use very abusive tactics.
