QuoteBestLifeWow, I love the diversity of perspective on this forum ...and I love that everyone here is questioning reality and I love the passion. From my perspective, I am not here to promote Byron Katie or The Work. All I can say is when I question the thoughts that make me unhappy and angry, it brings me to a place where I am kinder to myself and those around me. When I pray and meditate, I a

a little follow-up to this post. Byron Katie Backstory: its also interesting to have brought up the concept of the Byron Katie backstory. Its very obvious to even a casual researcher, that basically the entire BK backstory, has been re-written many times, even in her earlier books, the Story is quite different. She studied A Course In Miracles, has copied Ken Keyes' material, attende

It is normal to appreciate a technique from which one has benefitted. But, IMO, people dont just seem to appreciate The Work for its purported benefits. They seem protective of The Work, even when they express concerns about BK. Being appreciative is not the same as being protective. If you were capable of benefitting from The Work--you might have had the same benefits or perhaps even

QuoteCruzThe other day, my friend who led me to Byron Katie's (no longer) Open Forum shared a recollection that intrigued me to some extent. She recalls being rather surprised when the very first BK book came out, several years after Katie’s alleged experience and quite some time into their friendship. For, prior to this publication, all this time not a cockroach had been mentioned. Not even

There are more posts from "arienariadne" at the Guruphiliac forum. Here's the next one. Keira, I love The Work, too. I applaud any intervention or technique that helps us interrupt an uncomfortable story long enough to think about what's happening rather than being what's happening. There are lots of great techniques for this. Stepping out of a miserable story to ga

It's obvious that Byron Katie got a lot of her material from Krishnamurti, and many others, either directly from their books, or from those who copied their stuff. For example, Ken Keyes didn't make any of that stuff up, they were all copying from everyone else. The old No-Mind = Enlightenment idea was big at the time, and everyone was marketing that. Byron Katie took many Workshop

I have been studying the Ken Keyes document a bit, the one that Janaki links to on her weblog. This is the last page of the document and it is interesting. In her comment Janaki calls this a ‘description of someone who has done the work’. I actually think it is a description of BK, that is to say, a description of how BK wants others to see her. Janaki writes in her story that she noticed a chang

QuotecorboyPilot, I owe you an apology. I let myself get rattled, after the troll visits weve had. Thank you Corboy, I am sorry for the misunderstanding, I came in here without the benefit of research and have been schooled, the Janaki blog sure opened my eyes. I hope to hear more from people like her in the future, I told my friend about the blog-you know the one who does the work-he real

So much of what Stephen Mitchell says does not add up. For example, in the email quote below, he denies that Byron Katie studied Ken Keyes material in the Halfway-House. How does he know? Was Stephen Mitchell there in 1986? Was he also hiding under Byron Katies bed in 1986? (she says she slept on the floor anyway, with no bed...Stephen Mitchell doesn't even seem to remember that part of

hey, can I made a suggestion? No question, this thread has attracted "trolls" from BKland at times, and this is irritating, and its also disturbing for people trying to deal with this stuff. Its not easy. Look at that new blog by Janaki, she was in the Katie rabbit hole for over a decade, and even now is only starting to come out of it, partly! She still seems to frame her realit

Quotesolea13 Ken Keyes wrote a lot of books about the 'science of happiness' and apparently began claiming in the last years of his life that he lived in a state of permanent happiness. His apparently turbulent emotional life (he was divorced three or four times!) tells a different story! Parallel to Katie's story you mean? Stephen Mitchell being husband #3.

Thanks to Pilot for finding and linking to Janaki's Byron Katie Story. It was a fascinating read. Here's a couple of quick links to Ken Keyes info. for those who don't have time to go looking for it: Ken Keyes Wiki Info Ken Keyes Science of Happiness The links are just for reference and a general overview! ... Be careful with the Wiki stuff as always - it doesn't

sadly, BK would have seen Janaki slipping away for some time, and has done major damage control. Not one link comes up with the word Janaki on the BK public forums. BK will just blame her, of course. That's probably why they left that other Janaki webpage up. Janaki has not yet truly realized what was done to her, and how it was done. She is still proving to herself that Byron Katie is

a quick word about this blog Byron Katie and Janaki First off, its good that someone finally stepped forward to give a little hint of how the sausage is being made behind the curtain, even from afar in Europe. The fact that she is still deeply emotionally enmeshed with Byron Katie, will probably make it readable for those deeply involved in the Byron Katie system. (every single one of t

That blog also says...(in more flowery words)... Chapter 36 - Byron Katie kicks people who criticize her out of her seminars. (that is meant as a lesson to others...open your mouth too far, and you are kicked out) - deceptive advertising costs one guy $20,000, for the Turnaround House - Doing The Work makes people feel more SHAME and GUILT. It has to, its all about too much self-blam

Finally, someone being honest about Byron Katie, and using some common sense! Notice Stephen Mitchell is a completely unreliable source for any information whatsoever. To prove this she will ask Stephen who sits on the front row

This passage shows what a conscious manipulator Stephen Mitchell is, trying to pretend that Byron Katie doesn't read books, what a joke, what a scam. Just bold-faced BS, right in your face.. Read this thread, and it shows how in the suppressed Byron Katie book, A CRY IN THE DESERT, they talk in detail about how Byron Katie studied A Course In Miracles, and many other programs and methods.

Another quote from the Janaki-Byron Katie saga: QuoteAfter these emails, I spoke with my friend from the Muktananda days, the one who first introduced me to Katie, and I told him what had happened between Katie and me. He said, "And she got most of The Work from the Course in Miracles, because they were all reading that in the halfway house, that is where the turnarounds come from. She al

Pilot, I definitely feel differently since you have shared the link re Janaki's experiences with Byron Katie, which I did not know about. Can you understand why I might have felt suspicious? I urge people to read Janaki's very detailed tale of her long-term (more than a decade) experience with Byron Katie. Once again, here is a link to it: [Byron Katie and Janaki] In Chapter 2

Sadly for sure it will be reported back to the man that Rama posted here and there will likely be repurcussions as there already has been. The outside world is portrayed as such an evil place when within these people clearly have consciousness lower than animals - even a dog will fight to protect it's babies from a marauding wolf. They lie because they are ashamed - which means they know

Howdy.
