melmax, probably the reason your post took so long to appear is NOT your own error, but that rrmoderator(s) need to see a number of your posts (10? 20? More? Who knows?) before they give you "automatic" posting ability. They don't need trolls or "true believers" who are not open to back-and-forth with un-believers or people who are always insultive or crass in th

I think this cryonic thing looks pretty sweet! If I understand it correctly, I can give strangers total control of my cadaver's head along with all my money! But what do I get in return? A terrific little used tunafish can for a hat! Talk about being stylish in the freezer! I wonder which cryonics business gives it's members the "Fancy Solid White Albacore in Olive Oil&q

I want to be nice and civil about this. I do hope this is the kind of forum I'm on. I'm 28 yrs. old and have a suspension contract. I also have an irrevocable trust with a cryonics agency that I had a legal aid review. The one I consulted with is really good. She told me it was one of the best trusts she had ever seen. With that said, pursuing a cryonic suspension was an individual choi

Why should crematoriums and funeral homes need to be so closely monitored by the state to make sure t

Sparky: SteveHarrisMD, I do not know your specialty in medicine, but I really must think that as a medical practioner you especially would be skeptical to any potential mental "Re-Animation" of brain cells (let alone "memory" which is a whole other ball-of-wax) . Justin Loew, to me, the "highly speculative science and engineering" is a bit of a turn-off. I would prefer some accepted/established science to feel comfortable about shelling over hard-earned money to a salesperson shilling for a questionable firm. I have no doubt they are well funded. Your story of a beetle being frozen and unfrozen is an intentional misdirection handed to you

The plaque reads: Theodore Samuel Williams First Life Cycle 30 Aug. 1918 to 5 Jul. 2

The next news article states what has been stated in this thread many times. Its what most cryonics promoters consciously deceive the public about in their advertising. The cryonics salesmen lie about it continusously, to give people a false sense of security about cryonics. They exploit the naive idealism of their customers. Once the cryonics company has your body, they can do ANYTHING THE

Book: Frozen Ted head battered by workers By Dave Wedge Friday, October 2, 2009 - Red Sox great Ted Williams’ head was treated like a “grotesque pinata” by a pair of Arizona cryonic lab workers who bashed the legendary slugger’s frozen skull with a wrench to dislodge it from its pedestal: a Bumble Bee tuna can, an explosive new book alleges. “Little gray chunks of Ted’s head flew of

That is good news for the family. Hopefully that is the end of it. That is interesting about how some of the interest checks from the $50K were not cashed? And that there are questions about where the other interest money went? And since the cryonic company didn't do anything, why do they have the $50K? For what? Cryonics is really shaping up to be a new type of con-game targeted at a

Its almost unbelievable how far some of the beliefs of some cryonics believers go. Some of them literally don't believe in death. They are trying to call it "deanimation". This falls in with all of the other cryonics "jargon" they are using. And using "jargon" is actually another criteria for a cult. Why is it the Luke Parrish is literally starting to sound

To quote the Cryonics Insitute main web page "catch phrase": "Your Last Best Chance For Life--and Your Family's." PhilOssifur, Sorry you feel you must go. I don't think anyone on this thread thinks you are involved in the cultic nature (the vice-like grip of control from the "higher-ups") of the cryonic movement, in fact, I have felt you are a hopeful believer in cryonics and as I have pointed out, desire to live forever/cheat death or just live longer than currently medically possible is

Welcome, PhilOssifur. Cryonics has yet to show it can "bring back" a dog let alone a human. That being said I know that the thought of death vs. possible re-animation via cryonics is a powerful recruiting tool...I mean who ever really wants to die? Very few. The hypnotic allure of ever-lasting life/re-animation is very powerful. A quote attributed to Wernher von Braun (Amer

Charles Platt is doing his job with attempts at understated viral advertising for Alcor. There are a few people in the cryonics movement who seem to be able to break out of the Cryonics Talking Points propaganda, but not many, and they are viciously attacked, and they try to silence them, which is typical. Of course, there are a slew of people who are impervious to facts, and just want to propagate their cryonic memes, like Mike Darwin, Jordan Sparks (raging against regulation), e
