"Both of these defendants were brought up in families of immigrants to the UK from southern Nigeria. Neither of the families were from a Muslim background but appeared to be nominally at least 'Christian'. Both young men were converted to Islam in their teenage years. During the trial it came out that one of the two defendants had been brought up in a 'Christian' home w

To whom it may concern: if I'd have known about SP's comments concerning rape that are to be found in the purports of the Bhagavatam, then I'd have renounced ISKCON long ago. These quotes cannot be justified or excused away by the ISKCON apologists. It's just plain wrong, in every sense of the word. Evil it is, in my eyes. So let it be known as of this moment that I reno

Tony, I suggest that you begin by familiarizing yourself with the social-science experiments carried out by Stanley Milgram, Soloman Asch, and Phillip Zimbardo. Read up on their works pertaining to obedience, conformity, and the power of social role-play (respectively). This is my two cents' worth of advice to you.

ODB has not posted anything to that forum since last July, tho. He's probably just trolling around somewhere else, predator that he is.

Sic semper Tyrannus. (Does that name sound familiar, David?) To whom it may concern: "Tyrannus" was David's "Bible name" during his time among the COG/Family. His consort's name was "Lebanon".

To whom it may concern: David has reportedly been sighted in Sacramento area as recently as two weeks or so ago. Also, he has reportedly been posting from an IP address originating in/from the Sacramento area. I personally believe that this information is "solid", so to say.

To whom it may concern: I have received new information, telling me that Dave McKay has been sighted in the United States. My report is that he was very recently spotted in California, in the Sacramento area. That he was spotted in the Sacramento area is not so surprising to me; after all, I believe that he and his consort were raised there as children.

QuoterrmoderatorThere were former students and/or associates complaining on this message board about Swami G. Apparently some people that abandoned her as a teacher felt that she was abusive and unenlightened based upon their experience with her. Not to mention a terrible singer/performer to boot (IMO).

Here is a set of Hare Krsna in-jokes, an example of what I'd call ISKCON humor. A friend of mine who has been a Hare Krsna devotee for over forty years recently gave me this. Enjoy, everyone!

Dave McKay is selfish, narcissistic, committed to his own pleasure, and committed to the feeding of his own grandiose self-image, no matter what it might cost anybody else. Never forget that. "Dialog" with him at your own risk. What it boils down to, is that David hates anything or anybody that he cannot control. DM derives pleasure from manipulating people, period. John has a l

QuotefoofooanandaI, like Holly, was a member of Swami Gs cult. I struggled with her inconsistencies and behavior that was so controlling it was unbelievable. When I finally got up the nerve to walk away I was told that all my "Grace" would be instantly taken back and my karma could possibly kill me. Oh, and my life would completely fall apart and turn to shit. She was so mad she was ac

Yesterday (I missed posting this message then) was 27 July, and the 60th anniversary of the signing of an armistice that "ended" the Korean War. This marked the establishment of one of the most durable political cults this side of the Cuban "revolutionary" government. Interesting that these anniversaries are only a day apart in date. Sic Semper Tyrannis.

Today is 26 July, the 60th anniversary of the assault on the Moncada Barracks, which marked the beginning of the Cuban Revolution and the establishment of one of the most durable political cults the side of North Korea. Me, I've got mixed feelings about the "revolutionary" history of Cuba, but regard Castro as a dictator, and Che Guevara as a very sick man. These were not &quo

The Tribes, like the JCs, do actively seek out new membership, and run a series of restaurants and bakeries as outreaches. Anybody can go and visit one of their locations at any time. Friday nights they have a kind of "open house" and the public is always welcome. They are hardly secluded. I am by no means their apologist or anything, I just find them to be an interesting group to study

The Tribes' teachings are wildly racist and homophobic. first off. The Twelve Tribes are a very high-control, totalistic and destructive group, or a "cult" if you prefer. I have personally spent a good deal of time among this group (as a sort of participant/observer for research purposes) and know them pretty well. Further, I have visited and spent time in three different

With respect to this tentative project of mine: my object is neither to vilify nor to apologize for SOIF. My idea is to merely write a history of the CB group, taking into account cultural context and the sociological perspective. On a personal note: I have a buddy who is a second-gen SOIF kid. The things that my friend has told me, and the things that I have read on this thread, are abou

To whom may be concerned: for the record, I no longer work for Steve Hassan or Freedom of Mind. My tentative book idea is purely "my own thing", and I am working with, nor being paid by, anybody at all on that project. Any help would be welcomed and appreciated. Like I said earlier, please pm me if you are interested.
