Cheryl & Dave or should I say Chez & C? Sorry I find it oftensive to use your pals name, which in my dictionary is slang for poo!! Certainly not “very godly” or holy. Why do you blame others eg Lifegate Church for your problems? We don’t pray against anyone, we pray in love (you know that word your so devoid of dear Cheryl) for people/family’s Kirkby to be saved and for unity

QuotePaul submitted to the elderes in Jerusalem. Depends on what you mean by submit. He certainly did not "submit" in the manner you suggest and a close reading of the New Testament shows when he disagree with them and felt he was right, he taught different things, minor issues admittedly for the most part, than they did, and he rebuked Peter, perhaps the leading apostle/disciple to

Every time I read a post in which someone claims to have been "hurt" by Religious Science, Unity, or a similar group, I find myself thinking, "Let's place the blame where it belongs." Spiritual Mind Treatment, for example, is simply a method of prayer. That's all it is. It's not taught as magical thinking, and it's not intended to be a substitute for per

I must say that reading these posts makes me wonder if any of those proclaiming Unity a "destructive church" ever actually attended a Unity Church. Proclaiming the teachings of Unity "magical thinking" belies a complete and profound misunderstanding of the teachings of the Unity School of Christianity. I've been to many Unity Churches, and the greatest mistake they

Pastor Sees Room on Mall for Slave Tribute By David Cho Washington Post Staff Writer Saturday, March 8, 2003; Page B01 Something is missing from the Mall, says Herndon pastor Brett Fuller. When he walks its length, Fuller sees monuments to great presidents, marble parks depicting history-changing events and walls of black granite bringing comfort to relatives of war casualties. First, I haven't read through the articles you posted much. I don't have internet connection at home, and I'm posting this from work (dangerous, I know!) I did notice that much of the opposition to IHOP and Bickle is based on the Kansas City Prophets movement and the Metro Christian Fellowship, both things passed away. Bickle stated in Charisma Magazine in 1993: We had an e

Kastlefeer, my thoughts go to you and your family at this time. Your mom needs a healthy dose of whup-ass. I am all for a comprehensive approach to illness (including "non-traditional"), however, these should always be adjunct with mainstream, allopathic medicine. I think many times we want to be distracted by "magical thinking" or new thought when we don't want to

When accusations started coming against Phil Aguilar, the Pastor felt it necessary for the sake of the congregation to change our name. That does not speak to the accusations whether they are true or not. We simply felt it best to change our name and disassociate with them. We still continued in the things that we learned there. People spontaneously moved to the city on their own and we continued

To brainout: Joint (860) (haphe from hápto = to connect, adjoin) refers to a juncture or point of contact of one part of body with another. Joints or parts of contact are very important among the members of Christ's body even as the joints are to the body (see note Colossians 2:19). Spiritually, these joints receive their nourishment from the Head, Christ (see note Colossians 1:18), but h

Like all things we can't go into extremes ... but Unity is Christian per se but endorsing of New Thought/psuedoscience techniques that border on woo woo New Age. One of the hallmarks of something to take into consideration is what is the doctrine. Unity is liberal and its endorsment of the Secret movie leads me to believe that it is definitley edging towards LGAT in a religious context. Once

I have been attending a Unity Church in North Atlanta for about the past three months. The meetings are in a lovely chapel (bereft of any symbols) and feature a "traditional" style of service (music, prayer, sermon, offering). What troubles me is that the services are exactly the same. Despite the slight variation of the sermons, the events are extremely repetitive. I have witne

Its more than a little ironic that often those who go to Unity and RS, and places like that, have their heads in the clouds, and their feet in the shit. Perhaps they have stuck their heads in the clouds to escape that fact that their feet are in the shit and they can't get out. When in reality the best thing most of them could do is take a good look at REALITY, and then try to handle that f

In my undergraduate studies accounting was not one of my strong suits and is, frankly, of no interest to me- I trust the accountants who are hired by my church and the fact that they report to the government is enough for me personally (plus I know that there are others in the church with better financial skills then me who are keeping an eye on things!) And I’m not sure how (and even surprised

I see. I feel for you. It's amazing to me the way these things get turned around where the abused falls so quickly into a guilt trip and then apologizes to their abuser. It's the Stockholm Syndrome all over again! Talk about enabling the abuser and making him feel entitled so then he can feel like he is doing his best for 'god' err Mitchell.
