Byron Katie has numerous Stories about getting robbed at gunpoint. Those are all layered metaphors, in nested loops, stories within stories. They are designed to make people feel passive when they think of being robbed. That is called priming the pump, for when the seminar leader, or cult leader, robs you blind by asking you to empty out your bank account and hand it over. They have already co

Owen Fitzpatrick is doing far more than the public can perceive, except those who are trained in this area. His entire page is loaded with material, top to bottom. With guys like this, there are always at least 2 levels of communication going on at once. The basic text, and then everything else. Often the basic text is the misdirection, even though it may convey some general information. The

ah, why didn't Stever Robbins disclose that he attended a Byron Katie seminar? Did he attend the full 9-Day School for the Work? _______________QUOTE_____ Stever Robbins Message posted: 15th Feb 08, 11:58 pm "For example, Byron Katie had more murderers, ex-convicts, and child molestors at the seminar I attended than I've ever seen at NLP seminars. Does this mean Katie i

this thread has flamed up a number of times, as its dealing with very very COMPLEX situations, which are highly emotional, and its easy to miscommunicate with plain-text when people are rushed. There is nothing simple about what is going on here. There are very skilled people who are literally playing with how large groups of people represent "reality" in their minds. Steve Saler

Its fascinating about Twitter. For the average person, its not useful. But for celebrities to connect with their "fans", its great. But it might be MOST effective, for various New Wage culty Guru's, to connect with their flock, on a daily and hourly basis. They are even called Followers, on Twitter. very convenient. So the supreme LGAT New Wage Guru, can send out little

I agree with much of what Steve Salerno said above, but some parts need more refinement. One of the things which has been mentioned in this thread many times, is that those who SELL these advanced persuasion techniques EXAGGERATE what they can do, so they can charge more money for it. Its the scammers, scamming the wannabe scammers. That is why one should never purchase any of their products

even more interesting, is if one takes an even closer look at the text and the metaphors in the article by Stever Robbins, on that site that appears to be run by Steven Sashen. The basic Story of the article by Stever Robbins, is that if you take your best suit to the CLEANERS, and it gets wrecked by their negligence, then you are supposed to feel HAPPY-JOY-JOY about this, as opposed to se

Byron Katie's good friend Stever Robbins is an extremely complicated and sophisticated persuader, and would have to be disassembled piece by piece. He is all over the place. For people who have been familiar with the advanced NLP world for many years, this guy sets every alarm bell ringing at once, and not in a good way. The most healthy response when you see someone running these kinds

There are also links and posts by Stever Robbins on Steven Sashen's blog...of course. All in the family. These guys like to try to associate themselves with SHAM by Steve Salerno, as it makes them seem like critical thinkers. Carol Skolnick tried it too. And speaking of sneaky, the sneaky text from a website that was mentioned here has now been removed. Subtle. (website embedded ke

Meadow is right on the money. There is so much information there, it will take a lot of time to go over all of it. Notice the embedded commands right in their advertising blurbs, and how the Byron Katie Story is told in the images. Byron Katie did do some stuff for cheaper or even "free" for a while, that is to build things up. Every group like this offers some stuff for "free

this link is very good..people talking about multiple Stories, its exactly what BK does. I invite you to read it now, and you can even now imagine the joy you feel having already read it. Which reminds me of a story, I once knew this very wiseman, and he told me a long story that was told to him by his teacher...but before we get to that... QuoteThe Anticult At that level, they tell "

Jay, by the way, thanks for the quote from Jeffrey K. Zeig above. Very disturbing, and nice job bringing it up. Ericksonian hypnotherapy, was certainly NOT derived from Zen. It was highly idiosyncratic to Erickson, and never fully explained by him. But if anything, it was about getting people to adjust more to reality, it was therapy. But it was never systematized or written out. Jeff

Hi Christa, The point you make is very important. "It's a shrewd, subtle bit of marketing that points to a great deal of ego inflation and a propensity for risk-taking". B-i-n-g-o and Bingo was his name-o. Its no accident that they made it sound like Byron Katie appeared at Harvard, that is the type of tricky advertising they do all the time. BK always tries to make it

recently read some info about what are called "Nested Loops", which are used in this type of hypnosis that was coined by Richard Bandler and relates to the hypnotherapy of Milton Erickson. Byron Katie uses these techniques as well. These are basically stories within stories, sometimes 5 stories at once, that can set up a symbol/metaphor system, and in the confusion they create, serv
