I was in a vintage clothing store last week. I saw a used hat that might fit me. I tried it on. Before I put it on my head, I blessed it with my hands. After I took it off, I did a quick pass over my head with a hand to remove any oppression that might of transfered from the hat to my spirit. Then I stopped and laughed in disgust. Old habits die slow.

It's too bad I was not in this store when you were. I would have come over to help you bless the hat, and after you took it off, removed the spirit of Anak from your head. The other shoppers, I think, would have loved that!

So true. And btw, cancer was the cause of John's death--not the rebellion of his sons.

Sometimes the shit comes down so hard you need a hat. When that happens to me I have caught myself sending it back to whomever I think is responsible. Now I am realizing it was a LW teaching. I am going to rethink that.

Found the following: Patterns in Cults at www.watchman.org/ProfilePatterns.pdf

lily rose - The link you recommended (www.watchman.org/ProfilePatterns.pdf) was excellent. TLWF meets all four criteria. What is so blatantly obvious now was so hard to see from the inside. Each little tibit of truth wears away at the deception. I think what helped me the most was developing new deep spiritual friendships outside of TLWF that patterned healthy living - something most of those in TLWF may never have the opportunity to do. Because we were kept isolated from other believers, we really had nothing to compare TLWF with, and falsely assumed it was the best thing going. Freedom in Christ is so much more liberating than life in TLWF under oppression. It seems to take a crisis to break the grip of the brainwashing that has taken place - and more often than not, God gets thrown out with the bath water. The few that are still open to God unfortunately want nothing to do with living in community again. I would suggest both agendas are the enemy's intent.

I appreciate this forum. I can share “whatever” without resurrecting the old injuries of being rebuked, rejected, shunned or reminded in no small manner of my “spiritual underling status.”

Couldn’t agree more.

The page views for this discussion surpassed 104,000 a few days ago.
I don't think it is the dozen or so regular contributors that accounts for this number :)

Lurkers. I'm sure LW folks read and report to G&M if anything offensive comes up about the personalities of their inner circle.
