Sometimes it will have red letters that say something about somebody hacking, when it does that you just have to wait a while before you try to post again. I think there was somebody hacking or whatever and they put up some safety device on it and it just won't let you post more than once or twice and then they stop you.

It's kind of a pain. A few times I have typed something and didn't see it on the forum so I post it again only to find that it is there twice.

Hi everyone. I'm a new poster who is curious about this church-specifically how they handle dating and marriage. I am not affiliated with any church, and I dated a member of LWF about five years ago when we were seniors in high school. Her family was very nice to me and seemed to be ok with me dating their daughter. Then after several months as things got more serious, she ended it abruptly, saying that she needed to be with someone who shared her faith. Her parents seemed to make the decision (they asked me to come to the house to talk), and she was weeping as she broke the news to me. Shortly after, she also distanced herself from her friends at school.

I heard she moved to CA and just married someone from her church out there, so I guess she meant what she said. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? Thanks for reading.

It sounds too familiar. Consider yourself fortunate, as kBOY noted. Marrying this girlfried would have likely led to becoming immersed in the cult...and then searching for answers after the fact.

I was reading Reflections From the Wall, by Woodrow Nichols. I saw something that I had never heard of, he told about JRS doing something called "the probe." What exactly is that? Nichols seemed to indicate that it had something to do with hypnosis and digging deeply into their subconcious.

A bit of pseudo-psychoanalysis. (What else is new?)

No idea--but I hope it was not a painful experience for the recipient.

My goodness. I had completely forgotten about the "Probe Sessions".

I'm happy to say that I never had the pleasure, but one of my housemates did. Basically, it was a process by which the elders took one of the 'sheep' into a room and went about the process of ridding them of whatever 'spirits' were afflicting their ability to properly intercede for 'The Man of God' and/or generally function in a spiritual manner. The idea was to spiritually cleanse. Sort of like a colon cleanse for the soul.

My housemate was a different guy afterward. Engaging him in conversation was impossible for a couple of weeks. He eventually went back to his normal self, but the elders really did a number on him.

I remember it was all couched as a loving, shepherding thing, but it really was cruelty.

That is exactly what I thought about when I read that. "Probe?" hmmm.
