NXIVM and the Dalai Lama

I don't know much about the Dalai Lama, but when I think about what he stands for, I imagine him as a kind, compassionate man who values humanity. It would seem he would encourage community involvement and helping people less fortunate above all else. Why in the world did he agree to associate himself with an organization like NXIVM? Besides holding seminars that promise to help people help themselves (for large sums of money) what have they done? I don't see them in the community, donating time at homeless shelters, or holding fundraisers to raise money for cancer research. They are interested in one thing, above all else... money. And not money that they earmark for charity. What a shameful farce, inviting the Dalai Lama to speak in Albany with the intention of making their group "look Better". And, the poor guy didn't even see it coming.

The powers that be at NXIVM should begin a hasty round of public charity work if they want the Capital District to believe they have what it takes to hang with the Dalai Lama. The images from yesterday will fade fast, leaving them right back where they started. Why not shovel some of that money into the local food pantries or organize an Oprah like "big give". That might make their group look alot better. They might actually feel better about themselves without having to take a NXIVM class.

The Dalai Lama's schedule is completely handled by his "handlers".
There was a travel-doc, in where the famous host met the Dalai Lama. It was all handled by these Handlers, and they gave him 5 minutes with him, then cut him off, and brought in the next person.
Teh Dalai Lama might meet countless people all day long like that.

Its all arranged by these other people around him.
So its not hard to imagine people setting him up to do these speeches, and he has no idea of what its about. The Dalai Lama would not know anything about NXIVM, or whoever.

He probably lives in a pretty intense "bubble" due to security as well.

Cult and groups have always "used" guys like that to try and increase their own reputation.
If Werner Erhard were not hiding on a boat, he would also bring in the Dalai Lama.

That's true, Anticult, but I was still shocked that this group was able to get him. I know that many of its main backers are extremely wealthy and powerful, but to give a group as bad as this any sort of cachet at all seems dangerous to me.

So many people seem to take any sort of connection to a famous person as a kind of legitimacy. I just got a note about the Wright Group, and the person who wrote it presented the fact that Judith is going to appear on Dr. Oz (Oprah's shill doctor) as proof that Wright is not an exploitative group. I was saddened.

its interesting about the Dalai Lama, those monks practice very serious "non-judgement".
For example, countless of his monks and people were literally slaughtered by the Chinese government and then repressed, etc, land taken, etc.
Its been said that he doesn't even really speak out against those who slaughtered his own monks!

So who knows, the Dalai Lama seems like a good guy, but he's pretty detached...one can't imagine he knows anything about or worries too much about things like LGAT's.
He just wants his country back.

In reality, his speaking for whatever group, doesn't give them any more legitimacy, he speaks everywhere! Imagine the list of everywhere he's spoken, it would be hundreds of pages.

also, he has to live in a security bubble, as there are many people who would like to assassinate him.
So one can't blame him really for not being hip to the latest LGAT scam!

Maybe someone should send him an email? He might read it, unless one of his weaselly Handlers from NXIVM deletes it!

National Geographic has a DVD of a 2007 talk by the Dalai Lama in NYC, most libraries should have it.

Its interesting hearing what he has to say, its obvious he would meet with anyone on earth for discussion, including someone like Stalin or Bin Laden, or anyone else.
He even addresses one of his ideas is to reach out to "secular morality" and try to get through to the people in this world who behave poorly towards others. So who knows, maybe his appearance with these folks might be a bit like a Trojan Horse and backfire on NXIVM?

Of course NXIVM will try to use his appearance, like Werner Erhard used other famous personalities, to try to bolster their own image, and to use large financial "gifts" to get leverage.

also, at the end of the speech, one can see the very large security detail around the Dalai Lama, like any other world leader. So there is a bubble effect around him.

But doing a speech for NXIVM doesn't give an endorsement to NXIVM at all. Its not related.
Perhaps he even knows full well what they have done to people, and makes a point to try to get his message out to those who are running around hurting people, and are greedy, and dishonest?
He does talk about those who falsely act nice, and appear to be "nice" yet are out to deceive others, and how that is a form of violence.
Maybe he makes a point of meeting with some of the "bad guys" to try and convince them to behave ethically?

Time to apply your razor-sharp intellect to the Dalai Lama, AC, and I mean that in the most complimentary way!

1. Despite his "nonviolence" spiel, the DL cooperated with the CIA in a "secret war" against China. He was on the CIA payroll at least up through the 70s, possibly longer.

2. He describes the Tibetan situation as "worse than the Holocaust".

3. He has never explained his association with Bruno Beger, convicted Nazi war criminal who experimented on live humans.

4. He complimented NXIVM, said that he had looked into the complaints and found them baseless, and endorsed Raniere. Sorry, THAT is an endorsement for NXIVM!

5. He says one thing to his liberal hippie Western audience, but another to his Eastern followers, particularly on issues of sexual morality.

This is an interesting new book called Stripping the Gurus, which includes chapters on many of the worst gurus out there, many far worse than the DL.

"By contrast, though in line with the teachings of his own more conservative lineage, the current Dalai Lama obeys and enforces well-defined limits on the “pleasures of the flesh”:

His adamant stand on sexual morality is close to that of Pope John Paul II, a fact which his Western followers tend to find embarrassing, and prefer to ignore. The Dalai Lama’s U.S. publisher even asked him to remove the injunctions against homosexuality from his [1999] book Ethics for the New Millennium, for fear that they would offend American readers, and the Dalai Lama acquiesced (French, 2003).

Expounding further on such restrictions, the Lama (in P. Harvey, 2000) has said:

Sexual misconduct for men and women consists of oral and anal sex.... Even with your wife, using one’s mouth or other hole is sexual misconduct.

As for when sexual intercourse takes place, if it is during the day it is also held to be a form of misconduct (Lama, 1996).

Thankfully, some “fun” is still allowed, albeit not during daylight hours:

To have sexual relations with a prostitute paid by you and not by a third person does not, on the other hand, constitute improper behavior (Lama, 1996).

Interesting. Yet still, speaking of “the other hand”:

Using one’s hand, that is sexual misconduct (the Dalai Lama, in [P. Harvey, 2000]).

Masturbation ... includes emitting semen on another person, a monk getting a novice to masturbate him, or himself masturbating a sleeping novice, which could be seen to include homosexual acts. It is a lesser offence, of expiation [i.e., atonement], for nuns “tormented with dissatisfaction” to slap each other’s genitals with their palms or any object, with the slapper “enjoying the contact” (P. Harvey, 2000). "

hmm, was not aware that he actually endorsed Raniere and NXIVM. But it really doesn't mean anything for NXIVM, as what does the Dalai Lama know about that kind of stuff?
Does the Dalai Lama even know there are things called LGAT's?
Maybe its about donations, due to his high expenses, with the security force, travel, etc. Who pays for all of that?

and as far as sex, one would expect that so-called celibate monks should not talk about sex.
Its amazing that people would take the advice of Popes and celibate monks on something they supposedly know nothing about?

It would be interesting to look deeper into what the Dalai Lama is really about.
Of course, China spreads a lot of propaganda against him, and the Chinese army literally slaughtered many monks when they attacked Tibet. They literally butchered them, it was a massacre, attempting to wipe-out all the monks for good, in a genocidal manner.

It is interesting about the western audience. They do "project" their fantasies onto the Dalai Lama, as they were laughing at many of his comments, that were not even jokes.

The Dalai Lama did say in that speech he has no supernatural or healing powers at all.
But you can see his monks and followers don't believe that.

So in no way am I defending the Dalai Lama, it would be very valuable for credible researchers to look into what he is really all about.
Looking at some of the links out there, it would not be easy to sort the facts from the propaganda from all sides.

Hello. I have read a lot about NXIVM and now I have heard about this initiative started by its founders called the World Ethical Foundations Consortium (WEFC). They even have a facebook group associated with them. Does anyone know how this organization differs from NXIVM?

pinkunicorn:

Not much difference other than the name really.

Both groups are Raniere spin-offs.

It is essentially run by NXIVM people, and closely intertwined with NXIVM.
