There are comparable labour laws for unpaid volunteers who may be actually considered employees in other countries as well.
Might be interesting for residents of those countries to contact their local departments to inquire and/or register a complaint:

Now that we know that there have been investigations by the Federal government in the United States and France - one wonders if there have already been investigations into unpaid labour practices by other countries' Federal governments and the equivalents of their Department of Labor as well...???
